Luckily temps below -20 are not too common. but we do get a couple weeks in Januaray and feb that can and do drop to and below -20 and -30 can be fairly common for short periods. Probably only see -40 once every few years. But then wind chill factors are another story when its -20 with 35 mph winds.

As far as I know They all came with OD from 94 on with the release of the 47RH. The first gens 89-93 had a 727 in them with no OD.

Front spring replacement
one of 2 ways, use a coil spring compressor or unhook the front stabilizer links so the axle will droop to get them in and out. Done it both ways and either way works. Nothing technical about it. Got to pull the shocks out of the center first.

Great example is the TSA now. Everyone is guilty and needs to be proven innocent:nono: guess they forgot about our constitutional bill of rights specifically the 4th ammendment.

Electric Oil Pump
Amsoil has or had,"haven't checked for a while" a prelube pump that mounted on top of the dual remote filter head or could be used as a stand alone prelube pump. Lots of heavy equipment still use it Mainly with Cummins heavy duty engines,They are not overly prone to problems.

A few years ago I saw about 20 sleds melt down/lock up within a few hours time. It was around -35 to -40 overnight at a snowmobile lodge and that morning about half of the ones that actually got them to start had some serious issues. Most due to the 2 stroke oil being to thick on the sleds with oil injection to work properly. Talking with some of them I think all I talked to had synthetic oil in them also.

I run Schaeffers soy shield fuel additive every tank on all 3 of my rigs. The last mine I worked at goes through about 35K gallons of fuel everyday of the year and over the years of testing found schaeffers fuel additives to be by far the best. I have ran the amsiol additives for years but have noticed better traits with the schaeffers versus amsoil. I run straight #2 until temps drop to and stay below -10 for extended lengths of time before running a winter blend fuel only when needed. One thing to note is if you do run winterblend fuel do not mix it with normal #2 as the additives in a preblended winter fuel will cause more issues than straight gelled #2 fuel. Run your tank as low as possible before filling with winter blend fuel. I am not talking about blender pump blends where you can choose % of #1 and #2 mix, I am talking about the specific winter blends you find at the pump. For example Cenex harvest states stations have whats called a "WinterMaster fuel" which has a specific additive package already added to it.

Quietest muffler?
I am going to order a 30 and put it on my 02 and take the 17 off and put it on my 05 in place of the cat converter. With the stack on the 02 it took the drone away but the exhaust noise behind my head is still too loud for me now days.

Quietest muffler?
Proof is in the results and we have another success story, glad to hear it worked for ya. Did you get the 17 or 30 inch?

Injector Install
You answered your own question. Its all in the cylinder pressure it creates which will reduce the life of the head gasket regardless of egt or hp levels. I have seen wmi take out fire rings and o-ringed gaskets in extreme situations where they upped the jet size for dyno runs or pextra performance.

For the 6.7 DD/Tow rig, smarty or XRT are the best choices for programmers.

Injector Install
The last couple times I have done just this as the suggested torque was not enough to keep em from leaking on my 02.

Injector Install
If it is an hx35 then no but if its a hx40 hybrid it will have the HX40 4 inch exh flange so there lies the need for a new down pipe. As far as injectors I would stay under the 90hp range with a stock sized turbo. I had a BD super B with BD 90's and could bury the 1600 egt gauge with that setup with a regular comp. To give an idea, Industrial injection only reccomends 90-100hp injectors for the silver 62 turbo I have when I talked to them before buying it a few years ago and it is a WAY bigger than stock turbo. Do you already have a H2O meth system installed on the rig? Personally I would never run a water meth systems unless the head was o-ringed.

Injector Install
You will need a different down pipe if you go to any turbo that has an hx40 style exh hsg. Not only is the mounting different but it is 4 inch right out of the turbo.

what size injectors for towing
I would have to agree with the above if you want to run it hard with a load as you stated above. The 150's will still get you real hot real quick. But then you will probably have to go back down to stock crossover tubes also as I have read that oversized ones will cause it to run rough with small injectors.

Happy turkey day folks
Eat well and drive safe as I know a lots of areas got bad weather the last few days including here. HAPPY THANKSGIVING

what size injectors for towing
I would have said 150 max on your setup anyhow, why in the world did you go with 240 injectors? You got enough fuel to spool about twice the turbo you currently have. I run 150,s and a hrvp44 with a silver 62 and run it with the comp off or on level 1 when towing and I am running at 1200 pretty consistant depending on road and load. I go between OD and drive a lot depending on the road and what I am towing to keep the rpms up and temps down when needed.

Transmission Issue
ECM will not allow it to shift into OD until the coolant temp is around 140* IIRC. Edit;I see you have a 96 what I posted is for newer 47re trannies not the older 47 rh like you have.

Why are you taking pics of a small red x in a box?

Torquing Head Bolts
You need to realize that you are after a clamping effect rather than a specific torque. New fasteners are designed to stretch and give the clamp effect. This is important in head gaskets as they tend to compress over time and heat cycles and having a stretch on the fasteners will allow them to keep the head pulled down and still retain a specific torque value at the same time. This is why you do not have to do several retorques like you do with studs, you are taking up the gasket compression through retorques versus the fasteners doing it through the initial 90* stretch factor which will allow the fastener to do it naturally. There are many many high performance engine builders be it cummins or others who use nothing but factory head bolts without any issues.

stihl ms880 vs ms660
I have run an 036 PRO with 20 inch bar but need to go to a longer one as most trees I cut are always too big around "Old Cottonwood trees". and I love it. Reason I like the pro series is that they are a lot easier to handle and have a better power to weight ratio than the regular models. It has been flawless for almost 10 years now.

coworkers 07 has poor mileage
If its an 07 then we need to ask if its a 5.9 or a 6.7 before offereing up any sort of advice.

03 5.9 in a 01
I want to know what he is going to put under it for an axle to handle the extra weight of the 8.3 as its about 800 pounds heavier than a 5.9.
