  1. They are father / son companies. Fass was the original that the father started and then he drug his son through the mud, its a long story but the son developed his own company with his own design and became Airdog which in my opinion has a better product and a better man behind the company.
  2. Better not forget to send in that warranty card in the first picture or FASS wil not honor the warranty.I fell into that trap with them on one but after a long arguement with fass, the company I purchased it through got involved and fass decided to warranty it but the new one came with no warranty. Luckily it has been trouble free.I forgot to send back the warranty card and when I found it months later in a pile it was too late for me.:mad:I will never buy another product from fass again after finding out how they do business. My business goes to his sons company, Airdog.
  3. John you are running water meth aren't you? If yes then I would suggest studs. Just because boost pressure is around 40 psi doesn't take into account the increased cylinder pressure from any sort of injectables like water / methenal or nitrous or propane ect. My setup is fuel only which is a big reason for the long lucky streak with the factory head gasket.
  4. You have a regular revo smarty, mine is a standard JR which is known for the smoke. If I am on a normal low load cruise its clear but any sort of hill or any other little load will cause it to haze really good and if I have a trailer on it smokes pretty good pulling hills ect. Drop down to level 2 towing level and it doesn't smoke at all driving but it will still smoke pretty good on hills with a trailer. Just the nature of the standard smarty jr, If I would update it to the POD version I could tone it down a bit but I am happy with it the way it is for now.
  5. Which new caddy model runs the vette engine in it? I have seen advertisements and heard talk of it several times. they are awesome looking cars.
  6. This is a very good company. http://quad4x4.com/
  7. Sounds like its time for a refresh, new sliding collars synchros and bearings.
  8. Gonna have to open it up to see whats worn out.Could be several things. worn shift fork not getting it in gear far enough, or most likely a bad sliding collar happens when it grinds, it grinds enough of the cogs off as to where it does the said symptoms. first and reverse are always the gears that catch this the worst as people usually grind just a bit when first stepping the clutch down and tranny hasn't stopped rolling yet.
  9. DPF regen cycle. When my 05 smarty jr is on level 3 it smokes pretty constant with any sort of load at all during DD.
  10. With a population just over 200K, Boise Idaho is a small but industrious town. Several U.S. companies are headquartered in Boise including URS Corporation. One of the great Pacific-Northwest cities, Boise is similar to many American towns of its size. In response to the ‘economic downturn’ Idaho Gov. Butch Otter traveled to China to drum up interest in Idaho. China has been quickly climbing the ladder of superpowers, surpassing Japan for the number two position in 2010 and has been consistently gobbling up U.S. debt. Sinomach, the third largest Chinese contractor, answered Gov. Otter’s invitation and is currently in negotiations to build a 30k acre technology zone south of the Boise airport. The plan, according to an article in the Idaho Statesman, is to build on the Chinese model of self contained cities with all services included. Because Idaho’s aggressive approach, they are leaving themselves wide open to negative the impacts a deal of this magnitude and focus could manifest. “Whatever makes the deal go forward,” Jeff Don CEO of Eagle-based C3 told the Statesman. According to Statesman, the state constitution has even been amended to allow the Boise airport to borrow money to build facilities: “The proposal could get a boost from this year’s voter-approved constitutional amendment that allows the airport to borrow money to build facilities that can be leased to companies on a long-term basis. The airport commission also has the authority to grant long-term leases and landing rights to air carriers, including those from China.” There are plenty of figures as to how many people will be employed by the proposed venture, but there are no specific assurances that those numbers represent American workers. “Anything we can do to work toward having good industry opportunities for investment is important whether we get a piece of that work,” Doug Sayer president and CEO of Premier Technology said. Furthermore, veiled threats contained within the article by the Statesman outlining the plan inform readers that if they don’t accept these deals, Chinese companies will simply bring their money to other out-of-state locations. “Sinomach is not looking only at Idaho. The company sent delegations to Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania this year to talk about setting up research and development bases and industrial parks.” As the designed implosion of the U.S. economy continues, states and cities will be forced to welcome opportunistic foreign interests in a last ditch effort save their troubled economies. Like a wounded animal squealing in dark, predators will begin to descend and feed on the easy target; even as the prey fights to live. http://www.infowars.com/chinese-company-sinomach-poised-to-takeover-boise/
  11. Studs are not the issue, its the gasket itself, o-ringing the head and or fire ringing them is whats important. There are probably just as many highly modded cummins running stock head bolts as are running studs. If running injectables or boost over 50-60lbs regularly then I would definately run studs, otherwise stock bolts are going to hold things tight enough for the masses. My 02 setup sees 42psi regularly and has 120k on it and being at 560hp for around 4 years and 60k miles of being a DD and sled pulling and drag racing at that level is still a virgin engine meaning the head has never been off it yet and it has stock head bolts in it. --- Update to the previous post... As far as safe psi for the original post do not go over 35 psi Max if you don't want to be digging turbo pieces out of the aftercooler or exhast system, not to mention the high egts you will see at that point.
  12. Some forums will allow the thread starter to change the title within a few minutes or until it has a view or another post before it is locked which sometimes is as soon as its posted.
  13. One thing I hate about almost all forums is the lack of being able to edit thread titles. I have always thought they should be able to be edited just the same as the thread content itself by the thread starter. There are a couple forums I am on that alow it but 99% do not and I have never gotten an answer as to why.
  14. He needs to get the drive shaft balanced and check the u-jounts and hanger bearing. The bottoming out excuse is as lame as they come, won't happen.:clap:If the T-case is cracking the CV joint on back of front drive shaft goes bad and causes this most times but drive shaft balance and bad u-jounts can do it also.
  15. Every thing I have read and seen on the lock and stitch method is very spotty with few long term positive results on the blocks. Most have developed a leak again even after the stitch. Problem being is that blocks still flex a bit and expand and contract so in short once its cracked I would not waste any time or money on it. I have seen articles on people who have looked inside the coolant passages of these blocks and found in pretty much every case that a small crack exposed on the outside it always a lot bigger inside the block what you see externally is just a fraction of the crack.Kind of like the pencil holder crack on the outside but on the inside you find:moon:
  16. Do not need to replace the nut or the lock both are reusable.
  17. I can'tremember what size socket fits it as I have a full set of 3/4 drive sockets that go that big myself.I just grab one that fits as they are shaped kind of goofy. The correct axle nut sockets are cheap and can be gotten from most parts jobbers.
  18. It is just a nyloc nut with a locking tab that just pulls straight out. the pics posted above are a great visual of what I am tALKING ABOUT. You can use a channel lock or a chisel and hammer to get the nut off if you don't have big sockets or the correct axle nut socket like pictured above. I just reuse the tin gasket with a thin bead of silicone when reassembling them, don't think I have ever used a new gasket actually think I just pitch the tin gaskets on mine and just used the 'Right stuff" or ultra black sealant.
  19. AAHH I got ya going through a step one learning curve. Glad to help. Even if it grinds a little it will not hurt a thing unless you got one foot on the dash and you are trying to pull through the grind lol, have seen people try this before also. If ya can't find em grind em, I'll take a pound of that also..........Old jokes for people who like to grind gears.
  20. I would steer clear if its already cracked.
  21. Adding products like that into a tranny are nothing but snake oil............DON"T DO IT!!!!
  22. Bad part of it for us and a slap in our face in ND is we are the soon going to be the second highest producing oil stae behind only texas within a year as they are predicting and we are among the highest priced places also. We ship it all out of state to have it refined just to ship it all back it and we are at the end of the line for finished products. Story goes on and on about building refineries in state but nobody will commit to the huge expense with the epa running unchecked now days.
  23. Won't hurt anything, You absolutely do not need to even slow down to pull it into 4 high as it is synchronized just like manual trannies. You created a road hazard if you pulled over and shut it down just to engage 4 hi. I just let off the throttle for a split second so the driveline isn't loaded and pull it in. You only need to go through the stop when going in and out of 4 lo. I have run in 4wd for as long as a month straight couple thousand miles without taking it out of 4wd run down the interstate at 70-75 just the same as 2wd won't hurt a thing as long as its not on hard dry surfaces and the front and rear tires are the same size and inflation.. --- Update to the previous post... Bear with my question as to why you would be using 4 lo in the first place?
  24. Bismarck Mandan ND #2 is 3.41 and Cenex winter master is 3.71.There is absolutely no competiton around here, when 1 station goes up they all match the same price within a day.
