SUV talk...go
She doesn't want a wagon style vehicle and she wants to sit up a bit higher and unless the brand new ones have changed the cab design they are way to boxy and uncomfy for long hauls. We both have sat in them every couple years and they never seem to change the front seat area for comfort.

SUV talk...go
OK if anyone has been following the VW emissions thread you know wifes car is getting bought back so the wife wants an SUV. Looking for recommendations as we have never owned one. She has a few things she would like. 1 - AWD 2 - heated leather 3 - moon roof or sun roof. 4 - she wants it to have a bit of pep to it yet get 25+ mpg I just lol at that one. 5 - 30k max price Other than drive by on the lots we eliminated the VW Tiguan as the best milage is 23 on the spec sheets and is also the smallest and quite ugly. We both like the looks and mileage of the Nissan Rogue, the reviews are pretty good but they all say it is about the lowest on power. Honda CRV keeps coming up with the highest overall ratings but have not looked at one yet but many I have talked to around here that have own one say the hondas are really light and cheap and tinny feeling. Mazda cx 5 is another high ranking but no local dealers for them here so that is an automatic disqual. Toyota Rav 4 ? Jeep,Chrysler, Dodge, Kia, Hyundai, ford any GM products we have dealerships for locally. We keep coming back to the Nissan Rogue for some dumb reason having not even looked at many others or even driven anything yet. Advice from all welcome GO!!!!!!

EPA orders VW recall on Not So Clean Diesels
Wife is one step closer she got her buy back offer, now to have it notarized sent in and then once they approve it need to make an appt at dealer for inspection for final buy back protocol. Not a bad deal paid 17500 for car got 1k back from VW when the scandal broke to smooth over the vw customers this just covered the emissions delete i did to it so a wash there and now they will give us 2015 year KBB value when this broke with current mileage of just shy of 22k and they pay off the loan, all said and done wife will walk away with about 16k cash 1500 depreciation for a car we drove for 2 years and put over 60K miles on lol., SUV shopping in overtime mode this weekend now.

EPA orders VW recall on Not So Clean Diesels
Wife is getting closer to being without her TDI, VW requested her loan and account info directly from the bank a few days ago so prolly just a matter of time before she has to turn it in. She is in new vehicle shopping mode now and leaning towards an AWD SUV or Cross over of some sort. She has not driven anything yet but just from drive bys and web searching and looking at specs and mileage she keeps coming back to the new 2017 Nissan Rogue. She is super sad about giving up the fuel economy but having had a car that does 40+ for near 20 years has gotten her spoiled but she wants something more comfy now with more room to haul stuff.

Guest house flooded again...
You would be surprised how easy it is to just jack up a building and redo the foundation or even move the structure, may be worth looking into, either that or drain tile system around the base of the foundation not knowing the ground conditions if its rock or what type of soil.

Passed on the power wagon... picked up this!
Friend of Mine bought an early 70's 2500 4x4 four door crew cab from California with a 440 and auto that is super mint as well but he paid considerably more for his.

Give me more detail and or pics of the power wagon you passed up on, that would interest me a great deal.

Sounds like you are good to go, that is normal gear lash aka back lash and is about right. What kind of metal is on the magnet? it is normal to have some very fine greasy type material on it as long as there are no large flakes or chunks you are golden.- Dana 70 yoke play
What he said^^^^^^^ Rotational play aka gear backlash is normal and would be about right any in and out and or side to side or up and down movement and you have bearings failing or coming loose.- Is 2 micron small enough to pass thru fuel system
You are correct, anything bought through a dealer is a 7UM fleet guard packaged as Chrysler part. I think most now cross over automatically to the 7 micron but it never hurts to check and ask.- Is 2 micron small enough to pass thru fuel system
The thing to watch with 2 micron filters is to make sure you are running the proper blend to keep it from waxing in the cold, even a very slight wax will plug the 2 micron filter real quick. Also goog to keep or go with fuel heaters if running in cold climate with 2 micron fuel filters. The early Duramax diesels had a really horrible time with this issue early on. Guys used to buy filters by the case around here and carry with them not knowing the basics of the fuel system. Guys were dumping 911 and other bad fuel conditioners in like mad and many were killing injectors along with it. I just laughed when listening to them ***** all the time.- Old Timers
December 13 2009 is my join date. I joined exactly 4 years to the day before Mopar1973man joined. look it up for yourself..........- Can anyone solve my mystery clunk
The fuel sloshing in the tank made a wierd noise and feeling sort of a clunk on every 2nd gen i had over time. Not sure why but it would be totally annoying in certain driving conditions.- More showed up for Obamas" inaugeration than Trumps'??
Those pictures and rumors where taken a couple hours before the inauguration started. There are actual inauguration ceremony pics of both and there was a ton more people at Trumps gathering.- VW TDI
The 2015 was when they went to the SCR system with DEF so thats why they had a fix for those versus the pre SCR DPF only systems. For my deletes all said and done was in the neighborhood of 1100-1200. I think if one watches the TDI web sites one can find the parts a lot cheaper now if folks will be stripping stuff off that are going with the buybacks. Plus one can buy a programmer to do the reflash of the ecm now when i did mine one still had to send it in which was 600 bucks alone. I think to get a flash for the DSG reprogramming to go along with it adds quite a bit more to it yet.- VW TDI
There are pics of her hauling around a sheep a couple times but don't think she had time for pics at the time of the calves.- VW TDI
If cab space is not a priority the older ones are awesome too and no deletes necessary. 1997 to 03 was a nice looking jetta we still miss it a little but 03 was the last year of the 1.9l ALH engine which was a bullet proof platform then in 04 they switched to the pump deuce fuel system which was their version of common rail I guess along with a bit different body style, with every newer body style they keep getting bigger in the jetta platform, if a large back seat area is important then look for a passat.- VW TDI
If you do find one this site is by far the best I have found for VW TDI performance and general repair items. Top notch customer service. I dealt with him quite a bit while doing my 2014 deletes. http://www.fixmyvw.com/ If ever I replace my 05 cummins it will be with a gasser, I have no practical purpose going forward for a diesel anymore and do not want to deal with the ongoing expense of the new emissions systems. The new 6.4 Hemi in the Ram 2500 platform would be way more than enough for my needs. And no more VW diesels either the fact they do not offer them in the USA after this and with the emissions systems I just do not want to deal with the added headaches/expenses going forward.- VW TDI
I think they are bound for the scrap heap once VW buys them back but not sure. They have not even came up with an approved emissions fix for those choosing to take a partial restitution payment for keeping the car and having the emissions update done. As far as when I am not sure, wife just filed the new submission forms for the buy back option, thinking a few months from now after reading through a few dozen threads on it on the TDI forum since deciding to go the buy back route rather than partial payout, in order to get the partial payout one MUST do the emissions update repair before getting paid which would defeat the purpose of keeping the car. She has been wanting something a bit bigger like a hatch back wagon or crossover SUV and possibly AWD even before finding this car, she hauls around more stuff in her car than most pickups on the road will ever see, I am amazed at how she fits it all in sometimes. She hauled 2 bull calves home in the trunk last spring, tied up their feet and had the fellows at the sales ring help her stuff em in lol. This is by far not the first for livestock in the trunk or even the back seat of her cars over the years. She really likes the VW cars as do I they are bullet proof rigs but its up to her on the next one she has some time to shop, I just know there will be no more diesels in the future plans.- VW TDI
The 2010+ with the 2.0 may become a novelty item as most are opting for the buy back option as my wife is currently in the paper work process of it now too. For what we paid for the car versus what VW is paying for the buyout they are paying a premium price with little depreciation for age and mileage, if they approve her buy back we will pocket around 5K figuring in the 1k they already paid out to all involved as the prelim customer smooth over once this all came about lol. Never had a VW auto or DSG so no input there, last Jetta was an 03 we sold at just shy of 300K had a 5 speed and did nothing but basic maintenance in the 10 years we had it, kept it 100% stock and always averaged 45+-. Current car 2014 jetta has 60K and have not touched a thing on it other than doing complete emissions delete right after buying it and ecm retune has a 6 speed manual, stock never hit 40 mpg after deletes averages 45+ daily and on road trips 54-56 mpg with my wifes extremely heavy foot. There are numerous TDI forums with tons of info, I frequent this one but there are others just as full of info. The VW forums have some of the most in depth technical info I have ever seen other than this site but they are way more detailed very impressive and sometimes overwhelms even myself at the amount and in depth info there is. http://forums.tdiclub.com/- Long Haul
I don't think that will buff out very well. WOW Other than a few minor fender benders i have never been involved in a major automobile accident. Used to Demo derby in high school and college and had 2 vehicles up on 2 wheels and was lucky enough to bring em back down ion to all 4's without incident other than a puckered orifice.- My addiction
