Pilothouse/RAM3500 build
I found this site while looking at conversions a long time ago. Emailed back and forth a few times and they seemed fairly knowledgeable and friendly. Other then that, no personal experience. https://high-impact.net/nv4500-conversion-kits/

A/C leaking
Two questions with that kit. How do you verify the systems empty? How do you avoid doing anything other then putting a vacuum on the system? Id hate to get something like that and end up doing more damage then good haha.

Fuel temps?
So just an on/off above/below type thing?

A/C leaking
I’d assume it’s still stock but not sure. If it is it has close to 180k on it. I wish I had a way to pull a vacuum and check this stuff myself but I don’t. My version of what you did will be to replace a part, out cheap a/c recharge kit and see if it lasts any longer then before. Or pay someone to check for leaks and actually find it. Problem is these parts aren’t cheap! Thanks for the advice though, I’ll start with the compressor and go from there. It sure did cycle a lot.

A/C leaking
So I’ve been having A/C issues for a while now and haven’t had the chance to really track it down. It’s got to be leaking somewhere as I’ve had a shop charge the system, add frion and such, and within a couple weeks it was back to blowing like warm air at best. Had to use one those cheapie Walmart cans to boost it back up over a weekend trip with the fam, knowing I’d need the cold air and that it’d leak in less then a week. I’ll be home in a few weeks and want to start tackling this (along with heater core swap) but before I start buying parts, are there any places prone to leaks I can check right off the bat? If worse comes to worse I’ll drop it at a shop and have them run dye to check for leaks then fix myself.

Fuel temps?
What temp does the stock fuel filter heater turn on and off?
-
Oil pressure drops when temp gauge goes up
Why is that? High compression?

Hello
This is one of the few forums I’ve ever seen that doesn’t and it’s quite refreshing. People just want help with their trucks and don’t always think to ‘use the search function’ or have a problem that’s slightly different enough to warrant a new thread. Most of the forums with people who berate those types of folks are the ones who just spend way to much time on forums to begin with. We got a happy bunch out this way so glad to have ya!

Making a choice on Tires for tow duty
Awesome news about the 4th gen potential! If I’d known any better I would’ve got wife one instead of her GMC, but now with that almost paid off, it’ll be a huge bonus to the 2nd gen spending fund

High amp alternator
@W-T Wow!! Thanks a lot for that. Have you been able to find an alternator that meets the criteria you spoke of?

Making new battery cables
Are the stock alts and wiring like that?

Consensus on tapped pump
Gotcha, I have two Donaldson’s waiting to be put in next go around.
-
Consensus on tapped pump
I got a newer FASS but it still uses 1-14 thread.
-
So I made a decision
True Mike but you don’t have a stock HX anymore!
-
Consensus on tapped pump
So what do you recommend for fuel and water separation filters on the FASS and Airdog pumps?
-
So I made a decision
Not to be a party pooper but 450 with the quad and 75hp sticks doesn’t sound feasible with a stock HX/HY. I’m by no means the turbo/inj/tuner combo numbers output guy, but from doing a lot of reading I think you’re gonna need more air to support the 450 mark. As far as the DDRP, I’d those are your goals, I’d run a big boy FASS or Airdog. DDRP I’d only recommend if you were going to stay stock power.

Consensus on tapped pump
Definitely agree, get that fuel pressure up! Also, those boost numbers sound about right for a HX with no elbow. AFAIK the edge comp does boost fool, which just means it won’t throw an overboost code. You still need an elbow for the HX before you’ll see boost above that. I’ve seen upwards of 25lbs on stock injectors, HX and running a smarty or quad xzt just an fyi.

High amp alternator
I do the same as @Dieselfuture. My truck doesn’t like the cold so typically when I see temps anywhere in the 30’s I plug the truck in, 40’s I’ll use factory grid cycling and anything else is always in MPG mode for minimal grid cycling.

Consensus on tapped pump
I understand what you’re sayin Mike, but how does that even happen? How does a smaller micron filter pass up something and a larger micron filter catches it?? That’s what I can’t get around.

New 7x10 injectors max fueling question
I’m sure if he babies it he’ll be fine for a while, just really hard to baby it when you got the go fast parts on!
-
Consensus on tapped pump
It definitely is curious, but I wouldn’t be so quick to blame the 3um for missing it, especially when it’s impossible to know where the debris is actually coming from. I would say those numbers do indicate some restriction, I see 18-19 on anything but a really cold day all the time, never below 17. There’s no way it’s going to run fuel through another filter and it not have even the slightest bit of restriction. Not to mention two extra fittings. How well do you think the fuel heater works with all the extra fuel coming into the basket from an Airdog/FASS opposed to the stock LP? I’m not calling your findings rubbish Mike, just doesn’t make sense to me that the smaller micron filter misses debri that the bigger micron filter catches

New 7x10 injectors max fueling question
That’s kinda what I was gettin at Mike and the stock 47 is even worse! Make sure you mind your p’s and q’s @Kodiak24V!
-
Consensus on tapped pump
If anything you should just run it back through the stock filter. I personally chose to run straight to the VP from my FASS and rely on the fass filtration alone, 3 micron is good enough for me.
