Front Crank Seal Help .... and show and tell of what the dealer did
Ii it were mine I would check that cover real good for warpage or any deform and check the OD of the seal compared to the OD of a factory cummins seal with a caliper gauge and also the seal housing in cover. If all within specs it should fit. the press would be a great idea. Even a shop with a hydraulic press could install it with ease , sure would be cheaper than ruining a seal

Front Crank Seal Help .... and show and tell of what the dealer did
I see that I'm not the only one that destroyed first seal. I got a few thousand miles out of my first install before it started leaking, and I think it was due to not being seated square. I put another one in and now over100k with no leak. I know I posted in earlier comment and it's been posted in others is that you need to lay that cover flat on a bench and secure it. And put some blocking on the underside of the cover so it does not flex when you drive the seal in.

Camper vs trailer
NADA usualy has used RV values. Selling outright is probably best option. Find out the value and advertise a little lower if you can without going in the hole. Thier is a lot of used rv,s out thier for sale, you are just going to have to be competiitive

Wood Burners
Sounds like my part of the country, We usualy burn until after Memorial Day. It's not uncommon for a snow storm the first week of June. i like these spring time snow storms it can snow 6 inches or more overnight and be all melted by the end of the day?

Wood Burners
I always have a kettle of water evaporating on my stove. It takes the dryness out of the air. When the stoves burning hot sometimes fill it up a couple times a day. My wife's just the opposite, she lets me know right of way when the wood supply's getting low.

Front Crank Seal Help .... and show and tell of what the dealer did
Im sure that their are more than one version of the speedi sleeve out their, Ive put over a 100k miles on my truck since I installed it so I really don't remember. but one thing to check, Does your install tool fit in that bevel? if that's the way the directions say I would lean toward that way.

Their is not a lot of these great musicians left. sad to see them go. ive never posted a video before but here goes

Advice on RV trailer fender
Ive been looking to repair mine after a blow out couple years ago, Its just been siliconed back to gether, but needs replaced. I like the idea of those metal fender flares, I didn't know they made those. for the money I think that would out way the labor of trying to fab some up.

Front Crank Seal Help .... and show and tell of what the dealer did
wow, that is quite the hack job of a seal replacement. Ive done a couple of these and the second one went so smooth from learning from mistakes on the first one. If you file those nicks down and clean it up I'm sure a speedy sleeve should fix that. ( I got a speedy sleeve and seal through local cummins dealer.) and you have to use seal that comes with the sleeve, factory seal isn't going to stretch over it. when installing seal put your timing cover on a work bench and place some wood block under it to support while driving seal down or you will warp it, if it aint already. a trick I learned when installing back on the gear case is to get four metric bolts about 8" long or so and use them as studs to help guide cover on ( since its going to be silicon gasket material on it and you don't want to make a mess of it.the studs also help hold it while sliding seal over new sleeve. Also a trick I got off another forum is the credit card trick. ( go ask the wife for hers if you can, Ha Ha) take card and cut it length wise, so you have a strip about 1/2" wide the length of card. when you get seal next to the new sleeve just stick card in their and work around shaft as you slide the cover in place.you are just placing the lip of seal in the right position when doing this. hope this helps

Pyrometers install
Same here. I had to do both trans and pyro amp. Fit the pryo amp up obove brake assembly on metal bracket and trans amp on an electrical box below it. I just found some good two sided tape and a little super glue just to make sure they don't fall.

automatic transmission late shift
Personally if you are worried about transmission overheating I would look into installing a trans temp gauge and go from there Depending on your driving habits and towing situation the factory cooler usualy performs well

Brake shudder at higher speeds
I would have to agree those ceramic pads are no good for heavy duty use. For the most part they will heat up and cause pre mature brake fading. So for me I just throw a set of cheap brake pads every couple years and rotors are still in good shape. I tried the high end metallic pads, but quit using them do to scared up rotors.

Edge comp
Any way to test for small suction leaks on fuel supply, like if there is no visable leakage by looking at them? Just wondering becouse I've lost about 2 mpg lately but just passed it off as the quality of diesel fuel and winter blend fuel. usualy in the summer I used to get 19 on the highway but last summer I had to baby the truck just to see 17.5. With this fuel were getting now I'm lucky to see 16 mpg

what grease to use where.
https://www.etrailer.com/faq-grease.aspx all the infro you need on grease really, if i only had only one type of grease it would be the red moly high temp stuff, if its good enough for wheel bearings it should be good enough for universal joints and ball joints, and spring hanger pins, ext..... about the only time i would use a cheaper multi use is if I was greasing large tractor pins or impliment pins. the blue marine grease is good stuff too, its all I use in the boat trailer wheel bearings

Charging a/c
I can't tell exactly but that spot looks like looking south just a mile or so south of Rico. The actual ball field been closed for years, It had a back stop and remenates of an old baseball diamond. It was about a 1/2 mile north of scotch creek.
-
Charging a/c
I got all my supply's, but I might as well just wait until I can get a good vacuum on it and do it right, I shouldn't need it right away anyhow. I thought it was going to be a lot hotter down in Arizona, but I think I can handle 80 without a/c. I live 10 miles south of the Slippery Rock Fall in River Ranch, They outlawed camping at the old ball park, but still a lot good places along the river to camp close by.
-
Charging a/c
Good info. Thanks, I will look for an accumulator while I'm at it. Do you find the PAG oil where you get the freon or is it already in the freon cans. Im not around my truck so don't remember what amount it takes but I thought around 2 or 2.2 lbs or so. I guess I could get extra just to be sure.
-
Charging a/c
I don't have a service manual or a vacuum pump. I was hoping to just do a charge, and like IB mobile says I will get an accumulator while I'm at it. (If they have one) the system was opened up for a while when replacing the cores under the dash. as far as camping at the old ball park, I played a few ball games thier and drank a lot of beer with the Rico VFD. I live about 20 miles south of thier. In stoner, of all places. Ha

Charging a/c
So I need to charge my ac tonight. I was wondering how much freon it holds. And if I need to add oil. Since it is empty since doing the heater core and evaporator about a year ago. I'm close to some parts stores and would like to get my supply's before going home. I got a set of gauges too and would like to know what pressures should be reading. Thanks for any help

Power steering
Hydro boost is the big unit on firewall that brake resivour is connected to. Just follow lines from PS pump to the hydroboost. The return lines are fastened with a hose clamp and high pressure line with a fitting. Just disconnect return line from either end and follow flushing procedure

Power steering
last time I did mine, I pulled the return line off at the hydro boost (easy to get to) because I couldn't get it off at the pump without cutting it off. I pulled it at the hydro boost and just added a few feet of hose to get it in a container. mine was pretty contaminated it took about 4 quarts to clean it up.

Notes from the wilderness!!!
I'lll share some pics of my girls, this was before thier first winter, now they are 3 years now, they are buff orimgtpn and are very adaptive to cold weather, I do what Me does and give them a little light when the temps go below 0. They are also free ranging chickens. I open the gate in the morning and close it at night when they are on the roost. even with all the critters around here in the mountains I've never lost any. Even though my retriever looks like he is waiting for dinner they get along well
