  1. Im not sure with this truck but my 03 got better mpg at 75-80 than 65-70. Im in the same boat as you, I run 305/70/17 (34x12.50) and usually get about 15.5 or so mixed driving. I have 4" exhaust and flow through muffler with bhaf, edge comp and contagious diesel 7x.010 injectors and im still trying to find my best setting on the edge. I recently adjusted my valves but dont know if that will effect mpg any, hopefully it will for the better.

  4. I guess me color blindness got me again. I have cranked it many times throughout the day and morning and its always black smoke.
  5. I adjusted my valves a few months back and set them at 10 and 20, so I thought. I checked them again yesterday and they were all out, intakes were at 17-20 and exhaust at 30 or better. The engine had sat over night the first time and this time too. I redid them again setting them at a tight 10 and 20, by tight, I mean I had to force the gauge in and out not just go in easily. There is no way a 12 or 22 will go in now. I noticed this morning that when I started it it blew a little grey smoke instead of the usual black.
  6. My buddy just ordered the fix from somewhere he saw on tv, I think he was watching TruckU. He said it was a few dollars over $200 and came with metal or aluminum replacement parts. He also said it only took a few hours to do and was pretty easy.
  7. I just ordered an outerwear for my bhaf and hopefully it comes in today. I will post back in a few months on my findings.
  8. This is a great site and for $1200 I would love to find a few injectors changing gigs a weeks. Heck for $1200 that should include the price of injectors too.

  11. Got mine fixed today. Started thinking when this all started and it was this last winter, what did I do this winter, hmmmm, put a high idle box in the truck, ding ding ding ding. I unhooked it this morning and it went right up to 188 and floated between 188-194 like its supposed to. I guess it never was running low it just read like it was so now maybe I can recoop some of my lost mileage. Thanks Winslow:doh:Just playing bud, I will hook it back up when it gets cold outside again.
  12. The new cap seemed to help it for a while but it still wont get up to 190, it acts like its got a 180 t stat in it and then its back down to 155ish. The new cap seems to make it more steady, instead of 150 then 170 it just sits at 155 now and then all of a sudden it will jump to 183 and sit there for a while. I drove it an hour home last night and it road at 153 for 45 min of the trip. The old radiator cap had 15pounds on it and the new one says 16 so IDK.
  13. Pulled the cap off of my 03 that never fluctuates, will see how that works tomorrow.

  16. I dont know if I have ever heard it come on or turn off either way because it always sounds the same. Im going from Tx to Tampa Fl with a small trailer this weekend and maybe it will get up to temp and stay there.
  17. My temp is still all over the place, usually get up to 184-186 and drop to 16-170 and never get bback up to 180+. I just replaced my new thermostat with another new 190 from napa and its doing the same thing. Is it possible that my fan never stops spinning? I felt it earlier and it will move while the truck is off but it doesnt spine freely.
  18. Your juice does boost fooling so you will be good and it should feel like your getting alot more power. I used to hit 42psi with my edge comp boost elbow and 150hp injectors.
  19. Nothing will happen if you tap the wrong wire, my friend I had helped me and tapped the wrong wire. I tapped the right wire and dabbed a little silicone on the other one and all has been good. The wire that needs to be tapped is the top wire, if you look on the edge site at the instructions for the juice its got good pictures but the comp pictures are horrible.
  20. Look into some contagious diesel injectors, Lee builds them and is quite big in the 12v forums but builds them for us too. I just got soem of his 7x.010 which is 125-150hp for $350+core but he said he can build whatever you like. You cannot beat his price and these injectors idle/run great with hadly anymore smoke than my stockers. Contagious diesel is thier facebook page.
  21. No doubt, keep the corolla! I used toyota's on the mail route for years and the last was a 01' corolla. I would rather have a 200k mile corolla than a new pontiac anything.
  22. I didnt check the ohms but but it cranked up and idled fine today. I messed with the iat plug a little but dont know if it changed anything. I did use the high idle today and it worked but at soon as I turned it on it went to 1300rpm, then I turned it off and it went off. I then turned it back on and it didnt do anything but when I turned the switch off it idled up. Its fishy but I did get my new brushes in my alternator and havent tried the high idle. My alternator is charging at idle now too.

You can probably use your fancy Paris/New York hairspray too Mike. lol I just put on a BHAF too but my brother works at a parts store and got me the Wix 42790 for $34 so I didnt think anyone could beat that price. I also cut the bottom out of a 5 gallon bucket and set my filter in it so the oem airbox bolts wouldnt cut into the filter.
  24. Good thinking, I just put injectors in and may have hit the iat sensor. I will check it tommorow.
