  1. I have never built one myself but my tranny is doing sorda the same thing. Before it shifts to 4 it revs up a little higher than it used to, not alot but enough that I noticed it. I though it was a solenoid or something though.
  2. Welcome to the forum Alan, sorry no secrets out of me.
  3. Depending on where you get the pump, you can actually get 2 for the price of 6 injectors. I have had good luck with my 03 HO 6speed. It hasnt needed any injectors since I ditched the quad with high rail pressure. Most people say that the 03-early 04 get the best mileage but the 04.5-newer respond more to tuning.
  4. Its a bolt on, I put it on a lift and it made it alot easier. I adjusted it on the ground but did my drilling on the lift. You have to drill 3 or 4 holes in the frame and crossmember.
  5. You Sir, are asking to much. The only way I have ever seen them is you drill a hole at the top and bottom of your oem pillar and put some little clips to hold the new one on. Everyone says the autometer brand is the best.
  6. I would get the ebay elbow, it looks the same as the bd but alot cheaper and adjustable. I use my stock airbox and I think its even a junky fram (orange) filter and my turbo, intake tube and top side of the airbox are spotless.
  7. My UG is in the 98 and shows 29 gauges, its been working great for months with hardly any problems. I say hardly because it has gone on the fritz a few times and read "err" in the mpg display, but I just unplug it and its up and working right again. I got a vent mount from ebay to get it off the windshield and use it everyday. I have it settup to show accurate mileage for my bigger tires and it keeps track of the mileage I have on my oil and when I need to rotate tires. Its a cool little piece but I dont trust the mpg part of it because its hardly ever right. If I was in the market for a unit like this I would buy it again. Also, my grandpa and brother got one the same time and havent had any problems with theirs either.
  8. Yes, and it tracked crooked down the road too.
  9. I had a moog bar on mine and I thought it worked good until I recently put in a bd adjustable 3rd gen bar. I needed to move the axle to the passenger side about 1/2 inch because of the lift springs. The truck drives better than it ever has.
  10. Mine usually runs about 186 or so, do you think that is a 180?
  11. Welcome to the forum David.
  12. I have Winslow's high idle box but it doesnt help while driving down the road.
  13. Mine has been doing the same thing but it is very random, maybe every other day or so. My brother works at a parts store and is friendly with the parts guy at the local cummins shop and asked him about a t stat for my 98 and gave him the engine serial number, well he didnt get back with my brother before he ordered it and it turned out to be a 180. I told him I thought it had a 190 in it because it runs around 190 (when its running right) and he said that the engine serial number said it used a 180. I dont know if I want to put this in or not.
  14. I also use the edge elbow but the elbows off of ebay are adjustable so you can set the boost psi.
  15. Boost fooling lets the truck boost over a certain psi without throwing a cel or going into limp mode. It wont make anymore boost than it normally would. Put a boost elbow on your truck and it will jump up the boost and the boost fooler will allow it do jump up with 0 side affects. Get that boost elbow on and you will see a whole different truck. My comp came with one but when I ran my xzt+ I didnt know anything about a boost elbow. With big injectors and the xzt my egts were high and the truck didnt have enough power for what I had in it. I got the comp but before I put it on I added the boost elbow with the xzt and man what a difference, I could hold it wide open and the egt's wouldnt crack 1200 and it had balls. I put the comp on and it was night and day. You will like the juice.
  16. It does boost fooling on 2nd gen trucks but I believe the 04.5 and newer trucks dont.

    Welcome to the forum Hadley.
  18. My dad used rotella in his 03 and it would usually smell for the first couple hundred miles or so but then wear off. I have never smelled anything bad with amsoil, valvoline or cat oils.
  19. This is where I ordered mine but the prices have went up in just the last few months. Mine are manual came with the brackets. I have the stockers on my 03 and they dont have this either.
  20. Welcome to the forum Mike.
  21. Most likely that will fix it, mine was doing the same thing and Timbo's apps fixed all my issues (with the truck).
  22. Welcome to the forum.
  23. My brother works at a local parts store and told me that a 95 chevy 1 ton single wheel and a 99 dodge dually have the same part number wheel cylinders but a 95 chevy dually and a 99 dodge dually do not. These are the ones I put in my truck http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/DOR2/W79768.oap?pt=01324&ppt=C0066 . These have alot better stopping than my stockers and a little better than yours. Well worth the upgrade to me, I had to hit the brakes hard today and I felt the rear anti-lock brake do its thing and I never felt that before with the old cylinders. Here is the part for a 99 dodge dually and 95 chevy 1 ton single wheel, http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/DOR2/W79767.oap?pt=01324&ppt=C0066 You get 1&3/16 compared to 1&1/16.
  24. I will, also got a 1688 today but I erased it and it hasnt come back. I bet its the alternator. My temp gauge is also fluctuating sometimes, it will never get up to temp and fluctuate from 160-180 or so, seems like this idle is crappy when this is going on too. I have heard that cummins has a new thermostat to fix this issue so I ordered one. I think he said it was a 83 (181.4 f)degrees celcius t stat but as far as I know, mines a 190.
  25. Well with the warmer (70+) I havent had any trouble but it got cold (50) over the last couple days and its been acting up again. I pulled the 2.2k resistor and hooked the iat sensor back up and it didnt change anything. I noticed when its cold out, my alternator stays down around 12v when im idleing but then gets up to 14 when I start driving. When the truck idles itself up the volts rise and then they fall when it idles back down. I resset the apps several times yesterday with no luck but after it warmed up in the afternoon it ran fine. Maybe a bad alternator?
