  1. I put some recons on my 03 2500 and my 98 2500. The 2nd gen trucks have holes on the inside of the roof for the wires. I used a 1&1/8 inch hole saw and went straight up from the inside whit the headliner out. I measured the truck in the junkyard I pulled the lights from to get the angles right. I have done my 2 trucks and another buddies 98 truck. The 2nd gen trucks are alot easier than the the newer trucks because of the holes stamped in the roof. I believe the roof lines are close to each other because if you order cab lights from the dealer for a 3rd gen truck, they will order 2ng gen lights. The only difference I can tell is the screw holes are on the sides of the 2nd gen lights and front and back on the 3rd gen lights.
  2. I have heard nothing but GOOD about Schaeffer's oils. I wanted to run it in my 98 on the last change but funds didnt permit.
  3. Thats how I bleed my brakes but I didnt run the clear hose up hill, just straight down into a jar. I ran almost 2 large bottles of fluid through it to make sure it got all the old fluid out. I dont remember if I had a soft pedal because its been a couple years. Take it for a little drive and see if it stops feeling soft.
  4. Welcome to the site Jason.
  5. I had a beta version on my 98 and it had good power after I installed a boost elbow. I never could tell a difference in on the 30hp tune but I did like the 2011 or something like that with engine protection and high idle. Deffintely get a turnbuckle for you wastegate or you wont feel much difference.
  6. and what engine oil do you use?
  7. It will give a good boost but you also need to add a turnbuckle or J-hook to the wastegate or it will just build heat and not much power.
  8. Im not sure, I had my short buddy that could set Indian style under the truck with tiny hands hook all that stuff up.
  9. My grandpa has an 01.5 with an edge ez and we put a raptor 150 on his without a draw straw. We did not lift the bed or drop the tank, and the only hard part is getting your hands on top of the tank and removing/installing the fuel lines.
  10. Mine does this when its cold outside and the grid heaters are cycling.
  11. That is a phenominal feet:thumb1: Somebody is pulling your leg, I dont believe he has been through 1 set of glowplugs.
  12. Thats a code for your map sensor. Is your truck stock? I think you can get a new map sensor from the dealer for less than $150.
  13. Happy Birthday Buddy, its also my wifes Birthday.
  14. I had the same leak you have over 2 years ago and I went to the dealer and they said they no longer make the filter housing for the 98-99 trucks. He tried to sell me one of the newer housings with the plastic lid the like the 2000+ trucks use but it was like $800. I took my housing apart, cleaned it with brake cleaner and then used black rtv silicone on the o-ring and it hasnt leaked since. If your going to get a fass or airdog you wont need this housing anyway. Or you can find someone with a fass or airdog that removed their housing and see if you can purchase it from them.
  15. I just pulled the 65's off and put 27's on mine. The 65's are shorter all around than the 27's except they are a little wider and the battery hold downs dont fit them good. Our trucks came with 27's oem. Most places try to sell you 65's because they are cheaper but I would get 27's. Here is a 27 (left) and 65 side by side 27 measures just under 7 inches 65 measure 7 1/4
  16. There have been a few guys that run tranny temp gauges in there nv4500/5600 trans. Out of the water temp or oil pressure, I would go with oil pressure.
  17. Im in the same boat as you heavyd. I can only get about 26 gallons in my tank and I get about 16&1/2 mpg. I have jammer 150's and I have been playing with my comp settings. I have been running it on 5x5 and the mileage didnt change from 2x5 or 3x5 but I also have an auto and 3.55 gears with 265 series tires. In the last 2 months I have gotten both 0216 and 1688 so my pump is on its way out too.
  18. I would try to find another stock one. You might try sending this guy a message because he just got a new manifold. http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/98-5-02-performance-parts-discussion/343405-new-addition-engine.html
  19. I have mine plumbed in the same way with a needle valve on top of the canister. I just changed the filter but didnt turn off the needle valve and the gauge is working perfect. I was gonna change my line from the canister to the vp but I believe Mike said it might beat the gauge to death.
  20. Got it yesterday for $2.95 at Texaco.
  21. When my apps died, I would just get dead pedal or a surge at driving speed but it never idled bad. If you getting a 0121 then you need an apps so I would start there. Here is where I ordered mine http://www.dodgecumminsapps.com/
  22. I got a mechanical 30 psi di pricol optix gauge with a needle valve and it works great. The gauge was around $40 from Wally at FTE diesel and with the fuel line, column mount and needle valve I have about $125 total in it.
  23. You may try putting some bigger tires and staying in overdrive while towing but that may put you even further behind.
  24. Welcome to the forum.
  25. I went another 20 mies and then filled up and almost got 27 gallons in. I forgot I pulled a trac hoe for a few miles and it cut my mileage down a little.
