  1. I did the same thing, just caught it before it rubbed into the wire.
  2. Rock Auto has just the wire and the wire/sensor combo. - - - Updated - - - I seem to remember a thread here about a new sensor having to be shimmed properly to read the tone ring though. Cant remember if thats the case though.
  3. I just insert the filter into the intake tube and clamp it. I also built a cradle for it using a piece 1" wide aluminum I had laying around. I holds the filter up off of everything. It is bolted to the original bolts that held the stock air box.
  4. If all goes according to plan. CFA will open on 8-1 and I will be gone on 8-2. so far nothing has gone according to plan, so you never know. Late august would be highly doubtful though. - - - Updated - - - If all goes according to plan. 5. We have a similar problem. I am stuck in Terre Haute and cant get back to NC. However I did get to watch the drag races at the dragstrip next to the job. They ran juniors all day yesterday. Those things were running 80+ mph in 1/8 mile on souped up "5 hp" engines.
  6. I am sorry to hear about your troubles. Sounds like the clutch is working as it should and something internal to the tranny is not. I dont know what you can do other than have it pulled and see whats going on inside of it. It would also be a good time to look at the clutch and be sure nothing is wrong in there. The NV4500 is a fairly common tranny though and you might find one at a salvage yard if your funds are limited, but you have to get it out and see whats going on first.
  7. The only 2nd gen dully that has a higher gcwr higher than a 3/4 ton is a manual dully with 4:10 gears. I believe they are rated at 22k. I dont know about 3rd gen and beyond. I entertained the thought of dully when I bought mine but did not want all of that extra truck since only 5% to 10% of my driving is towing. The camper package overload and rear sway bar help for stability. The stock engine setup served me well for 5 years. About 1 year of that was with the current rv. While the Banks and the rv275 are nice,I still don get from point A to point B any quicker unless I drive faster. Air bags or overloads and a sway bar(if you dont have one) would be the first thing I would do. - - - Updated - - - My 96 did not have either and it was a touch bouncy on the rear and not as stable as the 02
  8. I .got the one from Advance when mine blew. I did not have time to review any of the specs. Teh only problem I had with it is the windshield washer bottle did not fit back properly. I could only engage on the the tabs. Not sure why, I have been on the road since and have not been able to compare the 2, but itwas not a perfect match. It looks the same and installed quickly. Maybe the inlet is a little low.
  9. Thank the lord for the bendy end. 5 gauge pod:think: hhhhhmmmmmm!!
  10. I have seen the gasket you describe but not on mine, I think they go on a 12v not sure. It is possible they did not tighten the back bolt on the valve cover. I have had mine off several times and it is still not leaking. Might be the only place that is not.:lmao2:Mine is a rubber gasket(or similar material) and can be reused many times. You might want to put a wrench on it and see if it is snug. There is a torque spec on it but i cant remember what it is. Might not be installed right either.
  11. Mine will be low on start up and seems to follow the volt meter in the dash. First start up in the morning it takes a few seconds for the volt meter to come up to 14v and the pressure moves with it. This happens even when warm, just takes a little less time.
  12. I am making house payments in Hickory NC, but working in Terre Haute IN at the time. All you have to do is get on 40 go east down the mountain and about 60 more miles and you are there.
  13. All very good advice above, though I know nothing about towing with an auto. The wind is going to blow even a dully around. Our rv's are near the same size and when its blowing out you just have stay concentrated on the driving. No way out of it. We have stretch of I40 near Asheville NC about 6 miles long at 6% to 7% grade. Up is no brainer. Down is a bit differant, keep it slow. It is much easier to stay under control at slower speeds. I still have pucker marks in my seat from the first few down grades like that I made. Its just a matter of getting used to it.
  14. Welcome. Not a 12v man myself, but many others are. You are sure to find what yo need.
  15. Good job, Ryan. That was an easy start.
  16. If you can get a load on it it would help you get the temp up and hold above 1000*. The longer you do that the easier it will burn the carbon off. When I bought mine new in 01 I strapped a 12k # trailer on it that day and took off. 285k miles later, she pulls better than that first day. The owners manual even recommends loading it up and driving to break it in. you wont hurt it by loading it up and driving it.
  17. a very small tourist.
  18. Beautiful country in the blue ridge. I dont get there enough and I live there. We used to camp up there alot when the kids were young. Never had a bad time. You gotta love the down hill mileage. I hope you enjoy the rest of your trip.
  19. She dont need steel toe boots. she never got the ax near the rocks she had the logs on.
  20. I would rather have them there than on the a pillar. Just want it clean and no exposed wires or holes in the dash pad. Still thinking of what I am going to do.
  21. Sounds like a good time to get an Edge comp to me. If mine goes that is the route I think I am going to take. Smarty looks good to. Just dont know. You could just disconnect it and see what happens.
  22. I wish I could park my truck and be close enough to work on it. I have quite a to do list.
  23. :lmao2:Thats pretty good. I have been thinking of adding another gauge to mine and dont want one on the steering column. Just so happens I have and old 2 pod mount myself. hmmmmmmm. - - - Updated - - - I have seen a 3 gauge pod that would mount on the dash pad. I just dont think I can bring my self to cut a whole in my new dash pad, but you never know.
