  1. It has to be either E-Brake controller or mystery switch; they will not work in tandem. I tried this when the E-Brake was first installed, and the torque convertor would not unlock unless it turned the ignition off. Made for a very exciting stop. I've been thinking of a work around design to try out later next year. Ok, no more hijacking this thread.
  2. I'm still waiting for the fun part. Upload the pic and I'll flip it for you. My truck from 30 feet away at Grant Lake, CA while waiting for Mopar Man and Jag1 to finish their bike ride around the June Lake loop this past spring .
  3. I just put on my tin foil hat and I'm good to go.
  4. ~30MPH When I say the E-Brake is on that means it is powered up but not functioning. when engaged it is functioning and slowing the truck down. If slowing down with the transmission in 4th gear and the E-Brake engaged the transmission will stay in 4th gear and the E-Brake will not disengage until 1000RPMs is reached at which point the transmission shifts normally. With the E-Brake engaged the 4-3 down shift can only occur manually, the transmission will unlock, and the E-Brake will disengage for the downshift. Once down shifted to 3ed gear the E-Brake will not reengage until the controller sees there is an RPM over 1500 and the accelerator pedal has come off idle circuit then back to idle.
  5. Up shifting is normal. The trans will not down shift from O/D to 3ed with E-Brake engaged until the RPMs drop below 1000 or you do it manually.
  6. With the E-Brake engaged, If I manually down shift from O/D to 3ed the E-Brake will disengage and not operate until the accelerator is depressed and released. I find this very disconcerting when trying to slow down. A manual override will give more control to the user.
  7. Yes, there is a controller that keeps the convertor locked when the E-Brake is engaged. I installed one in the truck that was used to lock the torque convertor with my own mystery switch setup. When I installed the E-Brake I removed the relays but left the switch. I'm now thinking about using the switch to manually activate the E-Brake when I down shift and going slow, 2ed gear and 30mph down a steep winding road.
  8. I have 127K miles and use it to haul an 8k pound 5er with a 500+ pound boat and trailer behind that. Of all the things to think about fixing the head gasket is not even on the radar. If it's not broke don't fix it.
  9. If you wire the FASS fuel pump through a relay and the relay is triggered by the fuel pump wires from the ECM then no code will be set. https://mopar1973man.com/cummins/articles.html/24-valve-2nd-generation_50/51_engine/59_fuel/installing-protective-lift-pump-relay-r501/?tab=comments#comment-55 Is the truck registered in a zip code where a California biennial smog test is required?

  11. Here is the thread, started by @Dieselfuture, about the change in valve guide seals. https://mopar1973man.com/topic/14508-top-hat-valve-seal-and-valve-train/#comments
  12. The cheapest I can find is $5.51 with some stations at $6.25 in Escondido, CA.
  13. Thanks for the offeror of paying for the group site. I'm still doing preliminary work on trip planning to Mt Robson, BC via Seattle: trip route, milage, fuel usage, projected area fuel cost along with camping and food expenses. Hopefully I'll know more by January. If I do make it there, I'll prepare a dinner of Carne Vinha d’alhos or maybe hot dogs for everyone.
  14. Nothing but rightwing propaganda trying to destroy my illusion that driving an EV is stopping global warming and saving the planet.
  15. With low beams on check with a voltmeter if there is battery power to the blub. If no, trace wire for open circuit or check for a bad fuse. If yes, then check with an ohm meter if there is continuity between the blub and ground.
  16. Extinctions have been a natural part of the planet’s evolutionary history. 99% of the four billion species that have evolved on Earth are now gone. Most species have gone extinct. There have been five mass extinction events in Earth’s history. ¹ So, taking a pragmatic view, if there is a 6th mass extinction event this blue marble in the cosmos will still be spinning around. Man's 2-million-year existence will be but a small footnote in the Earth's history. . ¹ourworldindata.org

  19. I made this bracket out of sheet metal from an old road sign and mounted a Carter "campaign" fuel pump with an added fuel filter. It is mounted to the frame using self-taping sheet metal screws and fender washers. This was done 11 years ago. When I installed the Fuel Boss pump this Airtex pump was fitted to the bracket as a backup pump that has been used to prime the fuel system when work is done on it. The bracket is still on the truck.
  20. Got back from the Fall season camping trip with my grandson, JAG1, and the gang. Now in recovery mode from surgery I hod on Friday. Next, I'll get my truck prepped for the body shop to have the right door and fender repaired from the damaged that was done to it in May. After the holidays I'll be gearing up for our now annual Haystack Mountain gun range camping trip weekend.
  21. Went back to the theme. New one with black background was hard on the eyes.
