The amps at the front door speakers are used to power the front speakers. My son changed out the front door speakers with 6x9's and kept the stock radio head. The front speakers have no base but the rear speakers sound good. I'll probably replace the radio with one that will power all the speakers.

On some of the Volvos that I work on the Speedo get it's signal from the ABS control module. When the speedo goes out and the ABS light is on I open the module and solder the main power wire coming into the circuit board. You find that the solder joint is bad from the hot/cold cycling.

I picked up 5 Michelin 245/75R16 LTX A/T2 off the totaled van today. The fronts have 11/32", the rears have 12/32" left and the spare is new. I paid $185 for the 5 tires. It cost $25 to have them mounted and balanced with new high pressure valve stems at a tire shop that I do a lot of business with. Even though I went from the 265/75 to the 245/75 the price was just to good to turn down.

Last month replaced front door speakers, cut the power and ground wires for the speaker amps, had a 16xx something code when done. cleared code and no problem since.

So that's where it came from.

I've pulled A 23' TT @ about 6k lb and the 5er @ 8k lb and i'll take the 5er any day. I just didn't like the up n down bounce the travel trailer gave even with a load lever hitch.

I've got a line on some nearly new Michilins on a totaled Ford van. He thinks they are 245s but not sure. I get to see them on Monday. I'll try to get the lot for $200 or best offer. The speed limit when towing here is 55 so most of my driving is 55-62 and never over 65. Only in 3ed going up hills.

What's the benefit by going tall or with the 265? The Queen was driven 4,061 mi last year so any tire I put on will rot off before its worn off.

75% of the time it's pulling the 5er and the rest is running empty. The 5er GVWR is 8k lb and the hitch weight is 960 lb.

The Driveway Queen needs new tires. She has 265/75 on stock wheels right now and thinking of going to 245/75. I was wondering what the advantage/disadvantage would be other than the obvious truck height, revolutions/mile, and cost difference.

It's a little crowded here. My city size is 24.37 sq mi with 89,387 people. San Diego County is 4526 sq mi with 3.2 million people. The freeways are 3 to 6 lanes in each direction not counting the car pool lanes.The I-5 freeway along the coast is backed up south bound for 20 miles every day. With Sea World, Lego Land, Balboa park, San Diego bay, Tijuana, and a whole bunch of other activities here the tourist problem is nonstop.

You load the front of the trailer with more weight for control so put them on the front axle.

The winter here lasted about a week. It got down to 33° one night and almost snowed.

My son replaced the front speakers the other day. He cut the wires that were on the speaker/amp and butt connected them. The rear speakers and the speakers in the A post work by doing that. With out the amp and using the factory head there is no bass out of the front speakers but the rears sound fine.

I think you and your wife got a good deal. The damage wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Not major damage, just costly. Those 2 aluminum A/C pipes are about $300 each.

That's a lot of work but be proud of the finished product because it looks great. A job like that is why you keep children and grand-children around. I'd do it to my boat but the prevues own scratched and gouged the sides taking it on and off the trailer. I'd have to sand the hull so much that it would probably lose its integrity.
