  1. Thanks for the replies. Just wondering if this was something I should plan on going bad in the future or what. Would it help to retorque all the head bolts if I would have the valve cover off for another reason. I don't think I have to worry about excessive timing like @Mopar1973Man. I don't really have any major mods and don't plan on many really.
  2. So @Mopar1973Man, you've changed head gaskets twice on your '02 I assume? Are these engines just prone to head gasket issues or is something else going on? I realize the miles you have on yours and the mods to, are those a contributing factor? Just curious. I noticed a bit of oil below the head gasket on mine, passenger side rear below the exhaust manifold. Couldn't tell where it was coming from for sure. Difficult to see back there. Didn't mean to hijack, I'll be watching this thread.
  3. Believe me, there are times I could use on e as well!. Lol
  4. Here ya go, a light and a magnifier. https://www.harborfreight.com/fluorescent-magnifying-lamp-60643.html
  5. I hear ya. I'm 50 years old and high milage myself. I don't solder so well, it works but isn't always pretty.
  6. @Mopar1973Man, I don't know exactly what the issue is with the cluster but GM had an issue for a while as well. All I had to do was take it apart and reflow some of the solder connections. Pretty easy fix and free if it's a similar problem.
  7. You could put weights on the bottom of the flap to keep them from sailing like that. They also make brackets to hold them that goes from top to bottom. The weights do a pretty good job. Like those chrome naked ladies you see on big trucks, those aren't just for looks. They're made of steel and have some weight to them to help hold the flap down in the wind. Of course as fast as mike drives he may need concrete blocks hanging off them. 🤣
  8. Love them old fords!
  9. If you figure out what's holding it in let us know please.
  10. I've had eternal-bond on the roof of ours for 2 years so far and no cracks. I have not looked at it yet this year though. Now I'm curious. Also, not that it would matter alot, our camper is an '89. It has a metal roof, none of that membrane stuff up there.
  11. When I sealed around our vents and other roof opening I used eterna-bond tape. Worked good around anything with a flange of some sort. The stuff I used was 4" wide I believe. They make it in different sizes to suit your needs.
  12. Possibly stuck in the bearing? Might have got hot and siezed itself to the bearing and is now fighting you? Just a thought.
  13. Ahh, I see what you mean after looking at the pics again.
  14. Not up to speed on how that all works together but watching this thread to learn. Someone that knows more should be along soon.
  15. Shouldn't be to difficult to set up the hitch to tow the boat depending on weight and type of hitch you have.
  16. Nice camper. What does it weigh? Just curious, looks like it's making the truck squat a touch. Not a bad thing, just made me curious on the weight of the camper. I think my radiator is worse than yours, it's on my list as well. Just been busy with other stuff lately
  17. The head rack is to keep it from falling off.
  18. Mine has a fass ddrp, it's in the factory location but a better pump. Probably one of the least expensive upgrades from a factory lift pump. I plan on moving it to the frame to get it closer to the tank to make it more of a pusher pump rather than pulling fuel so far. Those pumps, factory or aftermarket, aren't meant to draw fuel so far away from the tank. Larger lines wouldn't hurt either. That's also in my plan. Factory lines are small. I plan on going to 3/8" line. My truck will remain mostly stock with so slight upgrades along the way but nothing to crazy. Just want reliable and long life out if her.
  19. Truck looks good with the boxes on. Nice! Truck looks good with the boxes on. Nice!
  20. I've thought of making an account at my local napa. Just haven't done it.
  21. In the first set of pics I noticed disk brakes in the rear? Mine is an '01 3500 4x4 but has rear drums. Was that an option? I would prefer disks. Just curious. Welcome to the forum, there is alot here to learn and gain from reading. Check out all the tech articles that apply to your your truck. Lots of stuff there. Nice truck! You'll love it the more you drive it.
  22. Now let's hope that Mike don't get caught up with the new jet setters he'll be hanging out with and forget us little people. You also forgot one little perk Mike, all these toys will have to be test ridden to ensure they are functioning properly and safely.
  23. Wow @Mopar1973Man, that sounds awesome! Congrats! I hope it pays well and you enjoy it. Sounds like your dream job.
  24. I looked at it briefly but is it possible to remove just the center console? Or even move it enough to mount a stereo amp under it? I want to secure my amp to the floor under the console, would be easiest to remove it if possible. Thanks.
