  1. In the first pic it looks like that pipe plug is leaking.
  2. All good advise. I'll be watching this thread.
  3. That sucks, good luck. Hopefully you will get some results soon.
  4. What a story! Glad you got it figured out though. Luckily that shop had just hired a mechanic familiar with Cummins engines. Perfect timing. Now you have fresh rocker cover gaskets, pan gasket a new gauge trio and soon to have new motor mounts and a completely rust proof truck, at least for a year or so. Thanks for sharing!
  5. @Mopar1973Man, you know we are gonna want pics.....just sayin Lol
  6. Rub it in Mike, rub it in......
  7. Key words there are "within reason". I try to upgrade parts when I can or at least use quality parts. No sense in pinching pennies on a 1 ton truck and find that part failed later when trying to work the truck to its potential. That being said, if you.mainly use it to haul a camper I myself would go with a quality replacement. I couldn't justify the extra cost of the emf brands. Just my $.02
  8. Funny how addicting they are to drive isn't it. I have an '01 3500 quad cab dually that I drive every chance I get. Welcome to the forum, there us alot of experience and know how here to help you keep that old iron rolling.
  9. Mine are still OE as far as I know with 155k on them. I've noticed one of the lowers the rubber has torn a bit so I try to grease it much more often to make it last. I'm sure it will go eventually. Then I will be in the same boat, which one? So many choices ........
  10. Thanks for the replies. Just wondering if this was something I should plan on going bad in the future or what. Would it help to retorque all the head bolts if I would have the valve cover off for another reason. I don't think I have to worry about excessive timing like @Mopar1973Man. I don't really have any major mods and don't plan on many really.
  11. So @Mopar1973Man, you've changed head gaskets twice on your '02 I assume? Are these engines just prone to head gasket issues or is something else going on? I realize the miles you have on yours and the mods to, are those a contributing factor? Just curious. I noticed a bit of oil below the head gasket on mine, passenger side rear below the exhaust manifold. Couldn't tell where it was coming from for sure. Difficult to see back there. Didn't mean to hijack, I'll be watching this thread.
  12. Believe me, there are times I could use on e as well!. Lol
  13. Here ya go, a light and a magnifier. https://www.harborfreight.com/fluorescent-magnifying-lamp-60643.html
  14. I hear ya. I'm 50 years old and high milage myself. I don't solder so well, it works but isn't always pretty.
  15. @Mopar1973Man, I don't know exactly what the issue is with the cluster but GM had an issue for a while as well. All I had to do was take it apart and reflow some of the solder connections. Pretty easy fix and free if it's a similar problem.
  16. You could put weights on the bottom of the flap to keep them from sailing like that. They also make brackets to hold them that goes from top to bottom. The weights do a pretty good job. Like those chrome naked ladies you see on big trucks, those aren't just for looks. They're made of steel and have some weight to them to help hold the flap down in the wind. Of course as fast as mike drives he may need concrete blocks hanging off them. 🤣
  17. Love them old fords!
  18. If you figure out what's holding it in let us know please.
  19. I've had eternal-bond on the roof of ours for 2 years so far and no cracks. I have not looked at it yet this year though. Now I'm curious. Also, not that it would matter alot, our camper is an '89. It has a metal roof, none of that membrane stuff up there.
  20. When I sealed around our vents and other roof opening I used eterna-bond tape. Worked good around anything with a flange of some sort. The stuff I used was 4" wide I believe. They make it in different sizes to suit your needs.
  21. Possibly stuck in the bearing? Might have got hot and siezed itself to the bearing and is now fighting you? Just a thought.
  22. Ahh, I see what you mean after looking at the pics again.
  23. Not up to speed on how that all works together but watching this thread to learn. Someone that knows more should be along soon.
  24. Shouldn't be to difficult to set up the hitch to tow the boat depending on weight and type of hitch you have.
