I happen to be wondering the web a bit and stumbled across Timbo's page and he's added new videos on calibration and adjustment of the Timbo's APPS sensor. http://www.dodgecumminsapps.com/Calibration_video.html

Hey guys, I have been poking around here for some time but mainly active on CF. I have been wanting to get more active here, so here we go! I have been getting TC lockup issues for 3-4 days now and its getting worse. I pulled out my meter and sure enough, she's blowing .045-.052, she's toast. So I am willing to spend a little more on an alternator and hoping to not play roulette with china crap form local box stores. Where should I order from? Im hoping to keep my core since its a OEM original unit. I could possibly rebuild it for later. Im leaning on the Denso Hairpin 180 from Nations. However, I was reading somewhere about a better one from the dodge dealer t…

333K on truck, tyranny rebuilt by dodge at 70K; its starting to show its age. 1qt of fluid every 200 miles, shudders on the 2-3 up shift. I tow a 25' travel trailer and a 5 ton equipment trailer with mini excavator and a single car trailer with my RX2. Budget is the limiting factor, figure 3K max

I went to remove my filter to look at doing the lockup switch the other day. I noticed an oily mess on the firewall and around the A/C components. At first I thought my A/C was leaking though it still works great. I checked the turbo and noticed a fair amount of shaft play and the blades are turning black and sticky. It also appears oil is seeping out the back side of the housing as well which is where I think the mess came from. I was really hoping to do something different with the turbo when this happened but unfortunately I am strapped for cash as I can barely afford the rebuild. I dropped the turbo off at Master Tech in Boise as they came highly recommended an…

  6. It is time for some new brake pads for the front of the truck, I am thinking ebc or performance friction might do the trick, anyone with recommendations? Rotors are stock with no damage and as usual I plan to turn them unless someone out there recommends otherwise. Thanks all,Chris

  7. The Problem: My head gasket seems to have sprung an external leak right under my thermostat. I've got a big trip coming up next month with a pregnant wife, a 4 year old, and a 7k trailer on mountain roads, so I've got to get this squared up, and done correctly (though not overkill). I'm very capable with a wrench, and have been through every facet of gassers over the last 20 years, so I'm not worried too much about tackling it (other than the 200lb weight of the head). As I move forward I have a couple of planning questions to ask. What tools will I need other than the basics (I've got a decently stocked roll away with the basics)? I don't mind spending up t…

So here lately it's been getting colder and things have been working just fine. WTS light comes on, then off and she fires up just fine until....... When getting ready to leave work a few days ago I went to start her up.lile always but when I hit the key she didn't fire right away like normal. It hit one 1 or 2 cylinders and began to chug and huff smoke like mad. It caught me off gard so I immediately shut her dow to evaluate the situation. I listened for the lift pump, it's working, but I noticed the voltage gauge wasn't dipping like it should with the draw if the grid heaters. So I then cranked her over and let it run, it fired on a few cylinders again and after a…

This past year, i put in a new alternator, replaced the VP, new injectors, new radiator and just had the ECM reworked. I have had a group of electrical gremlins move in to the truck. It has gotten to the point that I do not trust the truck anymore! Been telling everyone it would be my last vehicle. Guess that is not going to happen . Can’t complain though. It has been a good truck. Now the hunt begins!

  12. While performing regular maintenance on my wife’s truck Ifound that one of the universal joints was shot. It was making some horrible screeching metalto metal noises on the test drive whenever I applied any throttle. Her truck is a 2001.5 long bed that has the 2 piece driveshaft. Since the universal joints and components onthe driveshaft appear to be the original OEM components, I want to replace ALLof the universal joints AND the center bearing. I want to replace the universal joints withSpicer Heavy Duty/High Performance universal joints and a Timken centerbearing. Has anyone done this task recently and if so, I sure wouldappreciate any comments, su…

Well, got my diagnosis from the trans shop today, the 47re needs a full rebuild. They want to charge me 1500-2000 for a stock rebuild and 2500-3000 for an updated rebuild. Considering I could buy a waranteed reman for that or do a 5 spd swap, I think I'll be going elsewhere. I'm looking at Shift Rite (out of Kankakee IL) or Smart Parts. Both have warantees and seem comparable. Any words on which is better? Shift Rite is a couple hour drive away so I can bring my broken trans in and make sure it passes core inspection, then leave with my new trans and save shipping cost, so I like that idea. Any other brands out there in the $1500 range I should look at? …

I have a 96-24 valve motor, it has 300,00 miles on it and still runs great....but yesterday she started throwing oil out and over EVERYTHING....The timing cover is "cracked" they say the motor needs to come out to repair it???? $2700.00......don't sound right to me.Have any of you changed or repaired the timing cover on this motor? What could cause this condition? How bad of a job is it to change / repair?Where could I get a replacement cover? Is the timing cover on this motor steel or plasticMany thanks as always for your help. I have a 2002 Ram 2500 Rwd 5.9L H.O. 6 speed. I had a small oil leak. It was leaking out of the over flow catch bottle. So, I did the crank case vent mod that I found in the tech articles here. So small oil lear went to a smaller oil leak. I power washed the driver side of the engine to get a better look at where the leak is coming from. It only leaks when its running. There is usually about 3 drops on the ground after you shout it off.It appears that the oil leak is coming from where the vp44 pump and air pump/ power steering pump bolts to the back of the timing plate. I guess my main question is how hard this is to do and what is the best way to attack this. Can…

Getting ready to install new billet torque converter in the old 47re. Just wanting some tips on what else should be replaced while I have it out. Rear main, front pump seal kit? If anyone knows of a good brand pump seal kit let me know. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Also, what's the best filter?

  20. So feeling like a bit of an idiot for trying this project during a very cold weekend which is contributing to my install. Not my first time upgrading injectors. However, can’t get 5&6 injectors to seat. Can’t apply enough pressure to push down on them and as they near the back can’t swing a mallet either. it’s just about freezing so fighting the cold metal and moisture in the air which is making it doubly hard. Anyone have any experience or tips to seat these? Can I use the hold down rocker arms and and torque the hold down bolts to seat them? Dumb of me to try this in the cold but hey.
