I need some experienced advice from you guys who live in weather that often gets snow/ice . I just had a new vp in and I installed a raptor 100 running around 18 ish psi....my truck is a 2wd...before I start getting too crazy with my effort to make the truck as reliable as possible and efficient I want to make sure that 2wd will not disappoint me in the long run... I have been off roading for 20 years, but not with such a long truck without 4wd...I am itching for a stick shift... I don't care about power as I care about reliability so the raptor is the only aftermarket part on the truck that would be considered a performance mod... I consider it a necessary to keep fuel s…

Hey everyone, new paying member here, having issues with my truck and looking for some guidance. My truck is an 01 24v HO. I have had zero drivability issues since purchasing it about seven years ago until yesterday. Driving down the road as per normal when the engine just suddenly shuts off. I coasted it to the side of the road noticing the check engine light was on so immediatley cycled the key to view codes. I was met with P0230, P1688 and P1689. Luckily I was semi close to my shop so had some good Samaritans help me push it the rest of the way there. The truck is a crank but no fire scenario. I first turned the key on and confirmed the lift pump started and primed. I …

I was installing my BHAF today and discovered that one of my batteries had blown up or something (a big piece of the top had broke loose and I could look right inside) and there seemed to be acid splattered all over under the hood:bang::bang: Any suggestions what would be the best course of action to clean this up? I did go to the car wash and washed it off good with soap then rinsed real good.

I've been loosing prime lately. * Park nose downhill, starts fine - uphill, hard to start * Pressurized the return lines from tank filler neck, no fuel leaks visible (did hear a hiss from the top of fuel module - guessing take vent) * Checked all inbound and return connections, everything is dry (replaced sealing rings/grommets for banjo fitting in back of head and tee 10 months ago) * Oil level is fine So at this point I feel like all external fuel lines/connections are sound. I drive like an old man most of the time. However the other night, I turned the quad up a little and got on it for a few seconds. The n…

Well, been looking over the truck the last week. Originally had, what I thought to be, a bad water pump. Looked to be leaking out weep hole due to coolant seeping along the timing cover below it. Replaced the pump and all was well for a couple days. After a 4hr trip I found a small coolant puddle. Started tracing it and found the source at front-middle of the head. Leaks down behind the fan housing and follows the timing cover under the water pump. Warmed up the truck and when I squeeze the upper radiator hose small bubbles emerge from the head in the area pictured. Will start tackling the head in the next couple weeks. Surprised it blew with arp studs in plac…

What is the benefit of a torque converter having a billet front cover or not? Im not questioning the internals of the TC as I understand what bigger/better components within the TC do but I’m just talking about the billet cover itself...

I've got an 01 6 speed HO with 160k on it I bought not too long ago. Previous owner had installed a FASS and Edge Juice on it. I went to clean up some line routing/wiring and noticed what I now know to be the timing solenoid wires were completely bare at the top outside the sheath. I poked around that area a bit, looked over some fuel pump wiring/hoses and then quit for the night after I saw how much work I needed to do. Next day I fired it up (still hadn't done anything but literally poke the wire bundle around to look at it) idling rough, p1690 pops up (no other codes) I shut it down and decided to swap the crank sensor. No change with the new crank sensor…

I have pulled my valve cover about 3 times in the past several months trying to track down where a ticking noise is coming from. I think I have narrowed the tick down to the very back no.6 exhaust valve. I don't think it's normal to be able to hear this sort of ticking from inside the cab when applying the gas. I noticed this tick around 25,000 miles on the truck & right now it only has a little under 40,000.This last time that I pulled the valve cover I found the valve to be out of adjustment & so I tightened it up. Before I adjusted it I pulled up and down on the rocker I was kind of surprised but there seemed to be a small amount of movement between the roc…

When I install my big line kit from FF to VP, and if I keep my pressure gauge tapped at the fuel filter test port, will the increased fuel line size result in more pressure at the VP inlet that I won't be able to see on my gauge because it's mounted at the fuel filter test port. Just curious. Thanks.

Changing my manual mirrors to power, heated, and lighted. I know doors are pre-wired for the power/heated and I've already added the mirror control swtich and the temp control with heated button. My question is if anyone knows if there is lights-on power source inside the door. Looking to avoid running wires through the dash to the light switch.

Vp44 guys. Im doing alot of work on my truck, cutting weight etc...my plan is to completely gut the cab, pull everything out and leave just the column, seats, shifter, and guages...gonna use my tablet/quadzilla for tach and speedo. My question is, Is there anything in the cab that is a "must have" to complete circuits or anything that if removed would cause the truck not to run? Besides the obvious **** like ignition wires. Id also be open to wiring a push button start. Any info would be much appreciated.

Hi Everyone, I've got an 01 Drive-train that's doing a weird thing. First 5 or so seconds, the truck seems to idles a little high, and a little rough. Then it smooths out and sounds like its running fine, but it has to Tach reading. Completely drops to zero, this is consistent. Every time you shut the truck off and restart it, it does this. The tach even reads, while it does read, seemingly accurate. What else has me confused is when I plug the code reader in and go for a drive looking at live data, it also seems to report proper RPM. I did a cluster test and it didn't seem to have any issues, so I don't think it's a short with the gauge, the Ca…

Im a new guy on this forum, This is my first post and hope to exchange a lot of infro on this site, Any way I have been tyring to figure out an annoying leak comming from ps pump out the cap for months, The pump seems to Be genarating fluid and overflowing out cap. I can drain pump down a bit and it wont leak for awhile, then about a few hundres miles later it gains a few ounces and pukes it out cap, and of course makes a mess everywhere. I have already changed fluid (put ps fluid back in) and bled system, so I know those ideas wont help, I rebuilt vacuum pump about 150,00 miles ago, and there is no external leakage. The oil comming out of pump is real black, Is it possab…

Hey there again. I got started on trying to clean up my stock injector lines that came with the truck and was curious if anyone had some good ideas or better ones than I had to knock this task out. Thought of scotch brite over the whole thing then a thorough cleaning and blow out. I have better pictures of mine now and some of the ends I'll be working with. Maybe prime and paint afterwards? Something to soak these bad boys in?

Greetings-From Steffen at DTT ...I purchased the Assassin Mechanical Fuel Pump for my '98 24 Valve-I also purchased the Vulcan Double (Filter and H20 Separator)To install along with it. My idea of how to install the Pump etcis as vague as the instructions included with the pump. Which consists of a simple line diagram with little or no descriptions of where different fittings, filters, hoses go...there are not even instructions as to where to put the pump...where the individualbolst may go. Yes-given lengths of time and trial and error I could most likely figure it out, but I have had my truck off the road (A FUll MOTH) waiting for this pump. I already replaced my Inj…

Hey all. I have been poking around different threads asking questions but I figured this is a big enough problem that I should start my own. Over the last month or so I have been having a problem with my batteries running dead in short amounts of time. I blamed it on the cold and put 2 brand new 850 CCA batteries in and changed out the alternator after having the light come on multiple times for it. I was having fuel gel issues and left it parked overnight (the block heater WAS plugged in) and came back the next day, batteries were to low to crank over. I know for a fact the block heater is working correctly, block stays nice and warm in the -30 weather we have. I…

Well I called Airdog today and they do not have a bracket for a '02 short bed Ram:(. I really want to put the Airdog 150 by the transfer case, not in the path of wheel debre from being outside on the frame. Does anyone know where one is or have any specs on one that they use/built? I think if someone wanted to make a few of them there is plenty of people that would buy them.
