So I've come to my senses a bit thanks to @TFaoro and have decided that I need to cannibalize my fleet and throw the HX that's in my 99 into the 02 since that's the truck that's staying for the long haul. Now, with that being said, I do have some questions. - Do I take out the entire thing?! (turbine & compressor housings n such?) - I figure I should get a rebuild kit for the HX since I know it's never been done, anything else besides the basic kit DAP sells? - Anything else I should look at changing or upgrading while I have it apart? - Tyler I know you got yours all nice and polished when you did your rebuild, where/how did you do that?

Alright I am working through the process of creating a true instant MPG meter. In theory, I love that word, we should be able to know how much fuel is being burned. We know commanded duration, we know speed, we know rpms. Below is the rough draft #1 for my testing, I am not concerned about it being %100 accurate. So my Question is when it comes to injectors in the VP44 system. If the vp44 can produce 125mm3 of fuel per stroke in stock form, what happens when you increase injector size? Does having larger injectors mean the vp44 will produce more fuel, IE 200 mm3 of fuel? Or is the 125mm3 the vp44 is spec'd to p…

I may have posted here before. I have had this issue for sometime and have read that is a concern and also read that it's not a problem unless fp drops. My fuel pressure mostly runs at around 18ps and down to 14 psi at WOT when towing a heavy load. I noticed yesterday that while unloaded, I drove to round trip 5 hours and let truck sit for about 4 hours. Then when I got in it to leave to go home from work, my fuel pressure was bouncing up a lot. It will run at 18 psi or and it just so happen when cruising in 5th gear, the fp would drift up and down from about 24-25psi back down to 18psi. It did this a bunch of times and slowly settled out the longer truck ran …

With the recent snow storm I was pummeled with, I had to utilize the truck today to get to work. Unfortunately, the lift pump wasn't giving me a pre start prime. Even cranked over and running, the lift pump is still not giving pressure. I checked the fuse, it's good. I swapped the relay out with a different one. Nothing. I checked voltage at fuse and got nothing. Any ideas? Pump dead? Some other electrical issue?

I read that it is turbo boost sensor A circuit low. would appreciate some info on this. why and what sensor is reading this. truck seems to run fine and boost will go from 0 to 28 psi. thanks.

  7. Hey,Before anyone ask I have a needle valve and a Autometer fuel pressure reducer which is a fitting with a small hole in the middle. That setup has worked fine for several months and was working fine after I installed the VP and injectors for about two months.Recently I noticed the fuel pressure gauge start shaking around and dropping down on pressure, a few PSI at most. I changed the fuel filter yesterday and that seemed to fix it for a few miles (5), but today after I down 2-3 miles down the road it started it again!!!!:thud:I played with the needle valve and it seemed when I closed it down more the shaking settled, however, it is still there and I bet as soon as I tak…

Evening Ya'll, 1st things 1st, THANK YOU MIKE! THIS SITE ROCKS! I've been using this as my service help for the last few weeks. I picked up a 2002 Ram 2500 SLT, Automatic, 4x4, short bed. Got what I thought was a good deal. I drove it 150 miles home, it was a DOG. I pulled 2 codes, P0112 (IAT v low) and P0237 (MAP v low). Using Mike's trouble shooting guides for the above DTC codes, after much wire tracing, ground cleaning, and testing both sensors are good along with the corresponding wiring..The ECM was bad. OK...FAST FORWARD to the 14th of March. My new (rebuilt) ECM came in, programmed ready to go. Installed the…

I popped my hood recently and found the vacuum line that runs from the firewall to the vacuum pump just laying there...still attached only to the firewall fitting that I previously replaced. On closer inspection of the vacuum pump side where it is supposed to be connected I found that the rubber 90° elbow that receives it has now degraded to the point of failure. I've been looking online for a replacement rubber elbow but can't find anything specific to my truck...only come across HELP kits with several generics and ones that specifically fit Volvos and Mercedes. They all look like they might work OK but can't be sure. I'd really rather have the exact repl…

I am going to at least begin this mod today. I just received my 150amp breaker yesterday from Amazon, I'll still need to pick up an online fuse holder for the pcm as well. I do have a couple of quick questions. 1. What size fuse for the PCM? I read both 7.5amp and 5amp. 2. I read that the ac noise would affect cruise control somehow on a manual truck. I haven't used my cruise much, just wondering how it affects this? Any other things it could mess with? I will take ac noise readings before and after to see how this works out and report back when finished.

So my front driveshaft came apart. Anyone have any idea how long they are right off the top of their head? I can order a new one($258) vs having one built ($650). Mine is too damaged to measure properly.

Installed a new VP44 from DAP. Truck starts lightning quick as it should when cold. I can let the truck sit for 5 days, nose uphill, starts in about half a revolution as it always has. So no siphon or fuel leaks. However when the motor's warm, not so much. Takes 3-5 seconds but does start every time . But let it set for several hours, cooler engine, no problem. Starting pressure with my Fuel Boss is 20 lbs. Out of curiosity, I put my DDRP back on which also runs around 20 lbs starting pressure. Same hot start problem with either. Is 20 lbs too much? No codes with a good scanner. …

Well I have been curious just to see what an average EGT range for the VP powered trucks. I run between 600-700 pre-turbo anywhere from 55-75 MPH usually at 0-3 psi of boost. My truck has 100hp(7x.009 SAC) injectors, a 62/68/14 wastegated turbo, factory air box with a modified opening, 285/70R17, low stall converter, done rite valve body and 3.54 rear gears. Like I said just curious to see what people average.

  16. Want to service my 47RE Auto Transmission and install a drain plug on the pan. B&M advertises a plug, but I have read they can/will leak. Are there any other options for a retrofit plug? If someone has done this job, what is the best location for the plug? Also, if there is Go-By article, would someone please point me to it? Thanks. Leaky

Hey guys, so ive done several good wiring go overs and I can't get my truck to start. I suspect now it could be the neutral safety switch, but I'm not sure at this point since the reverse lights come on when the truck is in reverse. I'm out of ideas here. EDIT: I pulled codes with the scan gauge and got po602, and po1689 Also can anyone tell me what this plug is for? I believe there is a purple and white wire on it. I think it's the CCD, but I don't remember now.

As the title says I've got the alternator diode issue and while it's off I'd like to make a new wire from alternator to fuse box. The rubber loom is rotten and falling off causing it to short against spots. I'm not sure where I can find these exact lugs. Fitment in the alternator is pretty tight.

Hey guys, I gots me an AirDog II 165. I installed it back in September and have been with this quirk since then. I'm not sure if it is a problem or anything but just wanted to see if others experience this?I got my fuel pressure at 20psi according to my fuel pressure gauge. When I start the truck and the grid heaters kick on, the fuel gauge will go down to 15-16psi. When the grid heaters switch off, the fuel jumps back up to 20 psi. I have watched the fuel in the line move back and forth to the gauge as they switch on and off.Its a mechanical gauge with a cage protector in between the stock fuel filter housing and gauge.WOT never shows fuel pressure to be lower than 15psi…

Hello, I am getting ready to install Fuel Pressure, EGT, and a Boost Gauges in my truck. My question is about thread sealant on the treads of fittings and senders. I am going to install a tapped banjo bolt on top of my filter housing and a needle valve will be installed in that. I don't see a lot of recommendations for Teflon tape and I am not sure if I can get a good seal without adding something to prevent leaking. Does anyone have any suggestions? For the EGT gauge I was planning on using an anti-seize on the treads of the sensor. How about for the boost sensor? Is anything recommended for that connection? Thanks for your help.
