What's the procedure ? I'm guessing just pull the bottom pulley and pump mounting bolts. Then tilt the pump down to get the drill chuck on the shaft? Do you need a 3/8" or 1/2" drill? Spin clockwise? Or do they make a pulley you can put on a drill and use the belt to prime?

Gents, I have done some searching online and have not been able to solve my problem. Under acceleration I can hear a squeaking noise while accelerating however when I am decelerating in gear I can also hear the noise I believe my needle bearings have worn out on the u joint it’s self. Granted the 20 to 80 mile an hour pulls don’t help much??‍♂️. Any help with the sizing would be greatly appreciated. Spicer sizes preferred!

Upon checking my drivers side ground wire I see it has 3 leads. 1 attaches to fender, heavy battery lead to bolt on engine block. Other lead has also been attached to this bolt but I believe it was originally attached somewhere else (maybe frame)? Will it make any difference where this 3rd lead is attached?

I have read the FSM for changing out the center bearing on my 2-piece driveshaft, and looked in the Parts List in the Articles section (which is for 2001/2002). Part # listed is: 04773014. When I go to Rock Auto that part number isn't listed for 2001 models, just 2002 models. For both years, they list options with two different diameters (even when I've selected Diesel and Auto, etc.) 1.5748" and 1.3780". Is there a good way to determine which I need without removing the clamp for the rubber boot and putting calipers on the shaft? EDIT: The difference is in the Wheelbase. If you have a 138" wheelbase (Quadcab, shortbed), you get the 1.3780" bearing. If…

Does anyone know of any issues with removing 5th gear from an NV4500 and driving long distance without it? My wife and I are in Fort Myers, FL visiting family. A couple days ago we we on our way to Tampa and I lost 5th gear. We were about 70 miles from where we're staying, so I made sure the other gears sounded normal and we turned around and headed back to Fort Myers. Seeing as we're about 1100 miles from home, and planning on heading back to Ohio in two weeks, I'm trying to weigh my options on the best way to proceed. I'm thinking that I can just take out 5th gear (and the nut), put everything back together, and deal with the repair w…

What do you guys know about the 100 or 150 hp injectors, I want to hear the good, bad or indifferent opinions on them. Cost, and how well they perform. I'm looking for more power in my truck, this 7000 lb tavel trailer is really hard to pull up hills especially when some idiot decides to drive 10 mph under the speed lmit right in front of me and I loose all my momentium and rpm's.

I have been towing my 5er across Texas on the new rebuilt motor. Started with 1100 miles on her, I am about 750 miles into trip. hot as hell out here. I have been running in 4th gear, nv4500, at 2500 rpm, right around 64ish mph. Wierd thing has started to happen when I start slowing down for an off ramp for fuel, or rest. When the clutch goes in and I amdown shifting as I slow, the idle wants to drop to about 700 before it catches itself and comes back up to about 825ish. After I stop, it smooths out and idles perfect? Anyone ever heard of this? All sensors where replaced during rebuild...

I'll be going down the road and itll happen my rpms will go up about 200rpms and I loose speed. Thanks for any input really annoying having to drive 50 miles a day to work on the interstate with it doing this.

  15. Anyone have good advice for dropping the trans? Ive read the truck needs to be on jack stands to fit the tranny out. Some guys say seperate the transfer case, other guys say not to. My thoughts are keep them together, get the truck up a few inches on jack stands, get a harbor freight transmission jack because I can get it here & now, and go to town. It's the little details like a double click of the converter, not hurting any seals as I slide it on, and/or anything else I may not know about. I'd rather not mess anything up. I do have the big factory service manuals here I will read first, but I thought maybe someone here could share some insight. I've neve…

  16. 2002 3500 dually 6 speed 200k. Bought this truck late spring, finally getting around to fixing things. Needs new rear rotors. Went to take the rear wheels off, passenger side came off fine. However the Drivers side inner wheel is stuck solid! Looking like some rust in there where the wheel mates against the hub. Dammit! :banghead: I tried everything, doused it with WD40, beat the tire (not the rim) with a hammer, won't budge. Kicked things up a notch and took the truck off jack stands & put the weight of the truck on the wheel & drove it back & forth in my concrete driveway. Nothing! Chirpped and spun the tires on the driveway. Still won't budge! (At lea…

This might be a silly question for all you dually owners, but I was helping my Son with his brakes today, and I`m curious .. Do the front wheels rotate out with one of the rear duals? They appear to be all identical rims, but the fronts have a chrome cover on the outer.. I`m just wondering if dually owners bother with tire rotation. P.S. Sorry I think I put this in the wrong sub forum

I just replaced my VP pump & also replaced the "CAM SENSOR" because it was easily to get to with VP Pump OFF, now the Engine idle's up & down meaning it rolls up and back at random varying about 150-200 RPM's. I checked the voltage on APPS and got 0.315; my voltage is stamped on white tag on rear of APPS is 0.448 so i reset voltage to 0.448.. Re-Calberated the Apps sensor by Disconnected the Batt terminals and reconnecting then pressing the fuel pedal down and back slowly...still does it PULLED DTC CODE'S #237 & #215 I think the #237 is from having the map sensor un-plugged when i first started the engine...not surebut the #215 i dont have a clue.... woul…

  19. 1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect APPS harness connector. APPS is located on a bracket, just above fuel injection pump. Start engine and allow the engine to idle. Using DVOM, measure voltage at terminal No. 5 (Dark Blue/White wire) on APPS harness connector. If the voltage is greater than 5.5 volts, go to next step. If the voltage is 5.5 volts or less, go to step 3. I get 5.6 2. Turn ignition off. Turn ignition on with engine off. Using DVOM, measure voltage at terminal No. 5 (Dark Blue/White wire) on APPS harness connector. If the voltage is greater than 5 volts, repair short to voltage on Dark Blue/White wire between APPS and ECM when the ignition is on. EC…

How do I tell what module the DTC is set by? ECM or PCM? I have a 99 so the key reading codes with the key on/off does not work. I do have a code reader (BlueDriver) A little background about 4 months ago it got pretty cold and I had a rough cold start which popped P0122 with a slight pedal stutter. Cleared code chalked it up as a cold start low voltage issue. A week or so later it did it again a couple of times. I swapped out with a Timbo Apps and no more issues. This morning another cold morning not too bad of a cold start no pedal issues detected however It popped P0122 again. I am now wanting to go through the complete troubleshooting tree however I do no…
