Hey, Alright guys yesterday I noticed the indicator light wasn't working on my truck. It goes into 4wd but I don't get a light on the dash. I've pulled the switch and tested it and seems to be okay. I've tested for continuity in the harness and some to be fine there. I've done what the Dodge book says to do and haven't gotten a light yet. I've tried to jump the plug across and I still don't get a light. Any ideas?? Should I pull the cluster and see what is going on behind there?? Is the light a bulb or LED? The Dodge book says it is a LED, but I'm not sure?? It has been a while since I've had a cluster out on one of these so I can't remember how big of a de…

Well last night I installed my new steering box and let me tell you this...HOLY HELL did it make a HUGE difference. The steering went from about 40-50 degrees of play down to maybe 10 degrees of play. The tseering is SO much more responsive to turns now! I got a reman unit from Carquest Auto Parts and it is just amazing what the difference was from the stock unit. I want to give a very big thanks to MnTom for sending me the factory bolts to install the new box and they worked out excellent! I can't thank him enough for helping me out in this situation. The only thing that kinda sucked was removing and installing the pressure and return lines on the box itself. It was a ti…

  3. (Not sure where to post...Please move to right place) Finally going to upgrade my 2001 stock radio...am/fm, cd with something better. Trying to figure out what I should get, so I can burn cd's or MP3's. Or are cd's/mp3's outdated now days? Over all goal is to play what I want, when I want and go down road with "my" music playing a little bit louder than noise of motor. If cd's are still the way to go, where is best place download from? Any recommendations for a good music machine?

I'm thinking of cleaning my nerf bars up this winter before they rust bad and wanted to use bed liner on them. Anyone have any good experiences? Something thick and durable that won't peel easy... Thanks

I am looking for pictures and ideas of where to mount switches in my truck. I am going to have to build my own cubby hole mount for my high idle switch. I am mounting 3 rocker switches below the CD player. I am going to need about 6 more mounting spots for other switches... Pictures will be of great help thanks.

Does anyone have one of these trucks that can help me out with some measurements and answer some questions? im trying to find out what the rear frame and rear axle differences are with my 3500 PU to see if I can use a set of bags I can get ahold of. (I'd test but they are out of state) I know the axle and frame is narrower than mine but is the frame C-channel different? Are the axles just narrower versions of the stock dually axles with the same size axle housing tubing?

I bought the torque pro app a while back to use on some of the gassers I work on and would like to use it on the Cummins. To get it to work properly and have full functionality I need the Chrysler specific PID`s and there parameters. Does anyone now where I can find them?

Been doing a R/H/S rocker panel, step and wheel arch on a 04 Ford Transit van for a customer, started Friday morning and by 2.00pm ish I'd run out of MIG gas so off to get another gas cylinder, It's a bit tight on our drive at the moment due to small plant, trailers, 2 Rams, piles of logs etc and while reversing and turning hard to get out of our gates I just caught a wall, took a very quick look out of the side window and no scrapes on the wall so off I go. The gas supplier I use is about 6 miles away and after about a mile I heard something, I assumed it was the 2 gas cylinders in the bed which were ratcheted to my 5th wheel rails moving around so I pulled over onc…

Anyone have replacement radiator supplier preferences? Mine is leaking at the tank gasket. I don't need a super-duty, haul 25,000 uphill in the desert model.

Can you use a pass. seat cushion on the driver side with very little mods? I realize the seat part #'s are different, but can they be made to fit?

  11. I took this compressor apart because it was leaking through the bolts (I'm thinking the 2 that have green inside the threads, top left/top right). The gasket on it looks fine so I am wondering how it was leaking. Can I get a new gasket for it or will that not fix the problem? Can I put some thread sealant on the bolts maybe?

I caught a sweet deal on a new driver side seat cushion a couple weeks ago. The seat shop was having a sale, $25 off and free shipping. I tried to get one but code didn't work for me so I canceled the transaction and left a comment on their FB page. Somebody replies to apologize and explain the sale didn't apply to 05 and older ram cushions but to give them a call. I call the guy and he explained the situation further and ended up letting me have the cushion for the sale terms anyhow. While replacing the cushion I noticed that while my cover wasn't visibly torn, one of the rods had pushed through on the right side into the middle seat. I reset the rod and springs an…

Been dealing with some mid 20's temps of late. Fire the truck in the am and the steering pump is moaning and groaning. Thats not to surprising to me since the pump is the OE pump and could stand a fluid change. The weird part is I drive about a mile from the house to get coffee and its moaning and groaning the whole way. Park, get coffee then jump in the truck fire it off and no moaning and groaning, not a sound. Drive 25 miles to the and still nothing. Not complaining but it does seem weird that after a mile of it complaining, all I have to do is shut it down and restart and it quits complaining.

  14. Had a slack day yesterday at work, nothing broke down for once so got on here and read some posts, what struck me and sticks out like a sore thumb is how unreliable these trucks can be on electrics.... post after post of dead vp's, dead ecu's, dead pcm's, bad connections, bad this and that..... Million mile engine bolted to a chocolate auto trans that just might run ok through the first year, I then got to thinking what it would mean to me here in the uk to just suffer 10% of the faults posted, I came to the conclusion that although I've been a diesel mechanic for 41 yrs now and have picked up a few things along the way I'd be struggling. I get diesel through work so…

I am hearing some problems from use of the spare tire winch so I was wondering if someone has done any mods to this. I am concerned about seeing my spare tire passing me on the highway sometime. Was thinking if anyone's found a solution... it seems kinda flimsy and that ratchet effect doesn't seem like it will hold the tire forever. So my first thought is a small boat winch mounted near an easy access point (wheel well or something) and then have the cable going over to where the original winch was with a pulley. I don't know.... just planning on having this truck for a long time and a boat winch is loads more positive holding locking power. A beer for your t…

  16. Ok fellas... so every road trip I have made lately I get low fuel pressure at high elevation.... here at home in LA I get 15 - 16psi ... i went up to the Rockies in Colorado... the whole time I was running 10- 12 psi...drove east towards iowa.... pressure started getting better...continued south gets better. When I get back to so. California I'm back up to 15psi... please rule out fuel filters because I had new FASS filters on it... what you all think??

  18. I bought a used 1998 24V QCSB (185k) about 6 months ago. Occasionally, it will fail to start for exactly one hour. Then it will start right up. I suspect an aftermarket alarm. I have no fob that might have come with the alarm, but there is a switch hidden under the dash which enables/disables it. Same problem not matter which position the switch is in. Most of the time it starts just fine. But has failed to start twice in the last week. So, the frequency may be increasing. Any ideas at all? I know the alarm has lots of wires but haven't any idea where to start to troubleshoot. And it may not be the alarm at all. If it is the alarm shutting down the ignition and it has a t…

I have been getting an intermittent no bus message since July or so. It had went away until my hunting trip last week. When it happens I of course lose all my gauges, but I can pick them up on my ScanGage2 through the OBD port. It seemed to happen on rough road so out of curiousity I tapped, or more like punched the cluster and everything came back up. This happened a few times. Since I can read speed, tach, etc. through the OBD port when the dash goes blank is it safe to assume that the problem is a loose cluster? Just trying to narrow it down before I start the long drawn out testing process.

I am considering using Luke's link to rebuild my track bar and tie rod ends. My criteria as always is, the best possible improvement for the money. Is anyone A where of a better solution when compared to the cost. In other words, buying all new components such as a track bar for $300 may be a better solution, but certainly not as frugal. Besides the Luke's link appears to be a permanent solution whereas a new factory or aftermarket track bar may be a temporary solution.
