Alright guys, I had to get my 01 a new trans, so I went with the whole deal 3 disk TC Jam Pac valve body bla bla bla $4500!!! Got to say the stock tranny held up well even though my truck is 12600lbs. So with that said, Im thinking of adding a chip, get a little more out of the old girl. Nothing serious just a little more hp would be nice since the trans can hold it now. Ive added the S&B cold air and the AD100, so a chip is next. I have looked into the edge ez chip and want some input. Also the intake elbows, do they actually help or do anything? let me know, Thanks

I'm driving a 24 valve with a Blue Chip Special X VP44 that has the timing slightly advanced to give it 22 additional HP. I also have a set of 75 HP injectors from Dynamite Diesel. They had to be readjusted to reduce smoke. I would like to use them but I need a way to control the smoke or fuel. I see a lot of members are using programmers or tuners for this reason. I'm not trying make a hot rod out of it just looking for a little more performance especially at lower speeds. With the timing advanced I have been told I can't use a tuner that has the capability to advance timing any more than it already is. I don't think with the 75 HP injectors I am going overboard and need…

i haven't seen anything latly about using b-20 fuel. over long term is there anything bad that will happen to my truck? i live just outside of chicago so i could use it almost year. there is a mobile gas station on my way home from work so its easily availble. besides the better mpg it is ussually a little cheaper then #2 diesel. so i guess the real ? is. use it yes or no?

As i was installing a DPS compound set up on my truck i ran into a problem. The tranny heat exchanger that sits on the driver side of the block is in the way and has to be removed or relocated in order for my big turbo to fit, has anybody removed this or relocated it and how so?! any help is greatly appreciated as i have to figure this out by Friday night!

I'm pretty excited! I've been working on this project off an on for about a year, and finally took it for a test drive today! There are a couple bugs that showed themselves, but it worked well enough to get a little data from. These are all at 1/2 second update rate, forgot to change it back to a little faster rate before taking off. RPM also seems to give weird readings at times, not sure if that's a software or hardware issue. This one is starting in 2nd going up a small hill. Totalling about 1:45 minutes. I "benched" my wastegate and have it so it just starts to open at 20 psi, so it seems to be working as it should. I have to adjust the rod for a…

  11. I just installed my airdog 165 fri night and sat I was having problems with it cranking and now it surges going down the road! This morning it took forever to start! When it did crank, drove it to the office and had to keep the idle up and the check engine light came on with the following codes P1692, P1693, an (2) P0122! Any ideas on what to do? I did the fuel module install! Please help!!! Jason:banghead::banghead::banghead: --- Update to the previous post... I finally got the pressure gauge to hook up an I am running 15 psi! Just as soon as I get it started, it is still loping! I believe I am sucking air some where but I don't know! I took the fuel supply line of…

Are aftermarket intake elbows all that their cracked up to be, or are they more less a fancy engine dressup?

Well guys I finally reached my goal of over 20 mpg! I went on a drive from southern Washington to Northern and back which netted me 20.33 mpg @ 65 mph. I also did a mix of city driving as well. This is with a corrected speedometer and I actually lose ~1 mile over a 550 mile course. I believe this increase has come mainly from the weather heating up and from possibly using S15 D-2 diesel as opposed to B20. I had the timing set on the quad @ 18* at 65mph. Rpms are around 1780 with 3.54 rear and 295/70R17 tires. I also swapped the steel rims out with 3rd gen alloys which reduced some of the rotating mass. Soon I will be switching to 245/70R17 tires and I hope to see another …

  15. I've been fooling around with moparman1973's tunes on my 2nd gen cummins and figured smoke was just a way of life. However I was recently cruising threads and saw a comment alluding to a required step to adjust something when tuning for a truck with large tires and tall gears. I think I have the absolute worst case for this issue so help or guidance where to adjust would be greatly appreciated. My concern is not mpg but rather managing the fuel and timing curve to light the turbo well and hopefully minimize smoke 2001 5.9 valair twin disk nv4500 3.56 with 35" tires. 17. So I've made some real progress the last couple weeks. Truck runs pretty well and cold starts are much better now. Still have to harden the hardware to make it a daily driver. I got some open source schematic and PCB CAD generator program called KiCAD, seems to work pretty good. Had some install issues because I'm still using Win 7 LOL but I found an older version that works. I used to use Eagle CAD, not easy if you don't use it often and forget things like me. Got most of the sanity checks done and correlated with the usual DTC codes. Some took guess work there isn't much in depth documentation on them. Thanks to the MoparMan forum I fou…

  20. I put down a number I am pretty impressed with last weekend. Now we are debating on trying to make it to 750hp on the SO without nitrous. A friend of mine thinks we are already pretty close to the highest power SO pump. So I figured I’d ask you guys since this is probably the biggest active group of VP guys. Dyno was at an old gasoline hot rod shop so it was only set up for 1,200 max torque. FullSizeRender.mov Oh and the tach pickup kept falling off which is why torque drops off on both pulls and print out is in MPH.
