  1. Might be time to pull the starter and check the brushes and contacts. Both can be purchased at LarryB's and rebuilt yourself...

  4. I've got a local gent with the code too and just install the fuel pressure gauge and so far he's holding up just fine but got a few quirks to it.
  5. I would absolutely cry my eyes out... :cry:But I got smart years ago and run twins. Main drive is 1.0 TB and the back up drive is a 1.5 TB. So when I was running windows I would have Norton Ghost run in the late hour of the night and backup all the 2.0 TB to the 2.5 TB so there was a fresh backup every morning. That system is still in place except windows doesn't run in the night so the backup are rather stale. So I know I got to force Ghost to kick a backup next time I fire up windows. But being I do most everything in Linux I tend to forget.So like the Linux drive I'm working on is a 250 GB drive with problems already and eventually I got to get off my rear end and move Linux over to the 1.0 TB in its own partition so it remains part of the system. But I know I'm on barrowed time and the 250 GB will eventually fail me. Linux is already warning me with SMART diagnostics. That's something I love about Linux it tells you your drive health and if and when it might fail.
  6. Well if your on Ubuntu I would know how you did it. At least with Ubuntu there is a option to unmount when you reading MS drives. Well I've come really close to using the next command up which is format. Since I flipped over to LXDE Desktop now that problem is gone. :wink:Sure sucks to lose 200 GB of information... I've got more like 2.5 TB or (2,500 GB) of information on one computer. I need to sneak over to Windows for a bit and back up again, It's Been awhile.
  7. 55 MPH I float 2-3 PSI of boost and 400-600*F EGT's.Idling I can pull as low as 250*F but typically see 300*F.Towing 8K travel trailer with Edge Comp wide open. No problem 700-900*F roughly on flat ground. But climbing a grade no problem either 1,100*F in 4th gear on 6% grade at 53 MPH.

File system is a bit different but root, home, user, etc are basically the same as Windows just named differently.But I tend to agree browser wise Opera, Chromium, FireFox all work much better on Linux much smoother. Very very rare have I've seen system or app hang in Linux when it does it so wonderful to pop open Terminal box and call out the command "sudo killall (app name)" and the problem is gone. :woot:When it Windows it still possible to hang the entire system so bad than keyboard and mouse hardware are dead and non-responsive.
  10. Got it working... So far it works better in Linux than in Windows. Hasn't crashed or had network issues... But need more test time...
  11. Well I'm pushing even harder now. I managed to fire up Guild Wars which is a Windows game on Ubuntu Linux using WINE. So far so good... Here is some information on what I'm playing with... WINE http://www.winehq.org/ Ubuntu Linux http://www.ubuntu.com/ And the MMORPG game I'm firing up. http://www.guildwars.com/ I'm going to benchtest this and see if Linux is more stable than Windows Vista which seem to have hang issues and network dropping issues.
  12. Correct... You insert a 56K ohm resistor into the plug of the IAT lead. It should enable high idle 3 cylinder.

  14. In all the vehicle I've owned I've never ever had a violent blow of a tire.I've had tread face separate on my old Dodge Motorhome but it could barely run 55-60 MPH at 4,000 RPM's. No damage done. age factor here got me. One both my 2002 and my previous 1972 Dodge trucks I punctured tires with rocks, tree limbs, stobs, etc. Some so big the tire was ruined on the spot.As for tire after 5-7 year regardless of remaining tread the tire should be replaced. The tire manufacture date is on the stamped part of the tire in week/year. As for properly inflating tire I'm normally a stickler for that I will readjust tire pressure when I hitch up trailers or haul loads.I kind of wonder if you two guys had tires rated for lower roads speed? 200,000+ miles no blow out and plan to stat that way for many more miles!

  17. As for my truck I'm only let a few choice friends drive my truck but I was always in the passenger seat. My parents have never driven my truck. And then a few shop mechanic have driven my truck but that about it.
  18. Belt has to come off first thing... The just remove the two bolts there "should" be plenty of room. I say much more being I've never changed mine yet... :rolleyes:EDIT:Oh crud... I just realized its a CR engine... :banghead: Yeah you might be in a tighter jam...

  20. Death wobble might be from worn shocks, loose steering parts (tie rods, ball joints, track bar, etc.)

  22. Please do and include lots of pictures and video if possible.
  23. Double check the brwon wire down on the starter for shorts and follow it back up to the PDC (Power Distribution Center). You might end up pulling the starter and checking for internal shorts. If this is beyond you then you might end up just replacing the starter... Maybe but Maybe someone here might have a little more to add or suggest.
  24. On the brake part of it is there ABS or BRAKE light lit?Did you purge the system of old fluid before setting all back up?I just wondering if there is debris in the fluid that might of plugged a port or something. As for the brakes its sound like a ABS issue almost..
  25. Well you VP44 is for sure gone...1st smoking gun - All the codes.2nd Smoking gun - The poor performance and lack of power.Now this might address the failed part by why did it fail? Did you actually test the fuel pressure?
