  1. Straight fall out... Just missing the failing whistle... :whistle:Awesome to see them fall hit the drive and explode...
  2. Question to you White... What is the filter cost to replace and how long do they last? Can you only get the filter from them only or is there other outlets?
  3. Here is my feeling on motorhomes... When you pack up a motorhome and stay in a camp site you'll have everything home like. But the only problem is when you need to go to the store or such you got to pack up the entire camp site and motorhome tie everything down just to go shopping or pickup supplies. I've owned a 1976 Dodge Jamboree which was exactly this issue. Get to camp and be there a few days and need to go somewhere... Pack it all back up... :rolleyes:Now with a 5th Wheel or travel trailer you can haul it with your Dodge and get rather good MPG's. Then when you get to the camp site you unhitch and the you can jump in the truck and go shopping or looking around. 5th wheels tend to pull better but also have a bigger profile to cut wind usually a bit low in the MPG dept.If you have a travel trailer and not a 5th wheel you can haul ATV's, UTV, bicycles etc in the bed of the truck and still haul the trailer but with a 5th wheel the bed is basically consumed with the hitch. Very limited what you can toss in the bed. So hence the travel trailer works for me...
  4. I don't know Russ... But that 1973 Charger is what made me who I am today and my love for the Mopar products. It's also what I learned how to turn my very first wrench on. Trust me I learn a awful lot of things with that Charger. Basically what I'm saying is if it wasn't for my Dad giving me the Charger for a graduation present this site might not of ever come to be. The Charger was the vehicle that got me started down the slippery slope of Mopar / Dodge Products... :whistle:Could of been worse my first rig could of been a Ford or Chevy...
  5. PS fluid should tan to honey color. Never black. As for flushing here is a 3rd Gen method but it works. http://articles.mopar1973man.com/3rd-generation-dodge-cummins/53-engine-system/119-power-steering-flush
  6. Think about it... This is the vehicle that made me who I am. Mopar 1973 Man - 1973 Dodge Charger hence where my nickname comes from and the site name. This is the very first vehicle that made me a Mopar Nut, Dodge Crazy! Might as well been putting the dog down...
  7. Ekkk! Even covered the roof vents...
  8. Yea its a direct bolt on item...
  9. I've got a 17 year old Chainsaw (Sthl 046 Magnum) still got the factory orignal spark plug yet. I've only pulled it once and cleaned it in 17 years the gap is still good too. Dorkweed is right 2 cycle oil is designed to burn and doesn't contain things like ash, friction modifers, anti-scorching compounds, etc. Which are now being found in todays oils and ATF. These things are harsh on the fuel system and will degrade the performance of the truck in a semi-permanent manner. (Ash build up on pistons and injectors).
  10. Well it finally left the property today... I'm sure going to miss that old car... Like all you said it best to left go and allow some one else to enjoy the vehicle now after he builds it back up again. :thumbup2:My buddy Relentless70 show up with his trailer and we loaded it up and got it tied down. The the new owners showed up shortly afterwards and finished the transaction and handed over the title.
  11. Day got all bottlenecked with getting the Charger loaded up today. It's gone...But tomorrow I'll get to town and get the fittings...
  12. Geez... Story of the long hair... http://forum.mopar1973man.com/converse.php?u=10339&u2=2
  13. Agreed! WEO/WMO is not a good idea for Common Rail or VP44 injection pumps because of the tight tolerances within the fuel system. Even when Cummins allowed WEO/WMO to be used in the early years it was only allowed up to 5% by volume or 1.5 Gallons to 35 Gallon tank. So these guys that are burning WEO/WMO are risking ruining a very expensive fuel system trying to save a few pennies.
  14. Arrgh...On my last outing I notice water dripping down on the rear corner of the RV. It was leak from up inside near the city water connector. Looking at the plumbing there is a piece of vinyl tubing clamped to the city water fitting and the PEX elbow. So loosen up the clamps to find both are damaged so I might as well replace the tubing too. Gave a firm tug on the city water side and POP! It came off but it broke the PEX elbow. I called the local lumber yard and they have no way of cutting the PEX clamp band. Great! So I hunted around the property to find the Dremel tool I found a small grinding wheel started slowly grinding the band. Well eventually the band got hot and the plastic melted behind it. POP! The elbow came out with minimal loss of tubing! Right On! So now today I'll take a trip to the local lumber yard and get Sharkbite connector, barb, 2 hose clamps, and a piece of new tubing!
  15. Those are the ones I typically run.
  16. That is the raylle speedo for that car that goes to 150 MPH... I pulled it out to keep myself out of trouble because that car has seen 145 MPH...
  17. No kidding... Just roll up in the and sit back and enjoy...
  18. The family that is buying it is going do me the favor and post pictures of it change in life. So as he fixes it up he'll post pictures up of the the car... So its going cool to watch him restore the car back to the way it was the best he can. Be nice to see a 39 year old car rolling again...Yeah its sad but yes I need to let it go... There is no reason to hang on to it to let it rot away under the tree.
  19. Well gang...I've gone and done it. I've gone and sold my 1973 Dodge Charger to a local family that is planning on restoring the car back to its glory days. This car has a lot of history being my Dad bought the car back in 1973 brand new and then hand down to me for my 16th birthday. The car is now 39 years old and got roughly 339,000 miles on it. The engine and trans have low miles on them.
  20. Not I... But I know the Zim's hot springs down the from me does and man in the dead of winter with some serious cold temp that lodge is toasty warm even when your dripping wet.
  21. Yeah that is so common... We all start to use short hand or cut corners in posting... I try not too... But still do it! :banghead:
  22. It was a loose / poor connection. I found the junction area in a storage basement and re-twisted the line for the 12V and set the wire nut down tight. Then clean the light oxidation off the post and the terminals gave them a oil treatment like the truck. I want to replace the ring terminal and nip back a bit of the wire to freshen the connection but use soldier on ring terminals. Better than crimp ons.I did a quick test run and system worked better. Less voltage drop from a things. Like I fired up my 400w inverter plugged in a compact florescent light, VCR, and my portable 5" black and white TV. It was drawing 20 watts (1.6 Amps) and staying up at 12.2 to 12.3 with a full charge. As for operation of everything while plugged in... I can flip on every light in the house and the inverter to boot and still hold 13.5 to 13.6 with the converter running. The slide even moves a bit faster now while on battery compared to before...I know I know... I tell you guys all the time and this time I should of heeded my own warnings... :banghead:Yes I can still sit back and laugh about it...
