Because under load the timing drop very low to as deep as 8 degree BTDC. This keeps the cylinder pressures lower and not likely to pop head gaskets. Where the Quadzilla could possibly hold timing more advanced even cold. You have to look at the entire timing curve stock to understand. 20% engine load and the timing drops super quick into a deep retard.

Ecm or something else?
WTS is only light that is controlled directly by the ECM. If there is a WTS light issue, or wiring issue there would be P0381 code. ECM and VP44 are ground directly to the battery terminal on the passenger side. No body ground for PCM, ECM or VP44 these three are directly ground to the battery. No body grounds for these. IAT sensor and Battery temperature sensor control the WTS light for duration. These are a must for proper WTS and grid heater function. All other gauge cluster functions are pulled from the CCD Network. If there is any P1698 or P1694 codes then you have a CCD network issue.

Guages?!
Gauge wise, I still love the ISSPro EV2. Like last night I didn't grab my cellphone to the fire call. Quadzilla ran like normal but headless, no display to look at. ISSPro's cover me with boost, pyro, fuel pressure and trans temp. I love the idea I've got the red warning light programmed for the limits I want. Boost is 0 to 60 PSI gauge and got the boost limit set for above 44 PSI. Fuel Pressure is 0 to 30 PSI gauge and got the limit set for below 14 PSI. EGT's is 0 to 1,600 gauge and got the limit set for above 1,200F. Trans Temp is 100 to 320 gauge and got the limit set for above 220F. Now I don't even watch the gauges but I can tell but location of the red light what I need to do. Wonderful design. I want to catch up with @Chris O. and see if there is a way to wire into the check gages and chime. So if the red light pop on any ISSPro then the check gage light will pop and chime too. Dreamin' but maybe its possible.

New Adventure! - Just Blogging
Ok... It's time to start a new page in my life. My mother @MoparMom has passed on (rest in peace) then I've got my wonderful girlfriend @Wet Vette that has been at my side the entire time. I've been super busy as of yet between taking care of last few thing for Mom death certificate and Eileen's medical appointments. I'm doing good and got my mind focus on moving on. Don't get me wrong I still have my weak moments and shed a tear or two with certain triggers. Even that is getting better. Give me a about one more month and then I'm going to be back here really working the website. I plan on getting back to article writing and being here on the site to help people more. I won't have all the long hours of driving like the last 4 years. I'm convinced that with a bit more effort I could really make this website pop. We are clearing about 2,200 people per day on the site. Like the conversation over on @JAG1 camping club I plan on having the RV ready for travel this spring. I need to get my transmission pulled and sent back for warranty work for 2nd gear. Even want to have the ATV ready too to load in the back of thew truck for local stuff like firewood hunting, camping, etc. The other thing I want to get my shop rolling, the fact I'm the only mechanic in the area now. I've got a huge chance at really building up a good local mechanics business. I've got lots to do do done at my other shop at Russ's place in Pollock. I've about got all 3 bays clean up the way I want it. After spring gets here I want to get the yard clean up more for parking. I've got to admit I know I'm pretty tired from all the long driving even now I'm still running back to Boise today. This why I'm saying about another month of so to get rolling 100%. I plan on taking some time off and getting to meet my new family and other mother (Eileen's mom) then I'll have a grandmother (Eileen's Grandmother) to go visit few hours from there. I'm might of lost my own mother but I've got another family that accepted me. So this is going be part of my healing time I'm going to do soon. I've got a ton load to do at home still like going through all of Mom's stuff and get things gather up for donations, trash, yard sale, etc. This is the other part I've got to do that a bit tough. Like I've told friends I'm not going to hang on to all of Mom's stuff I got to move on and look forward, yeah there will be some keepsakes. Both houses are just a mess right now with boxes and stuff scattered between storage, the guest house, and the main house. I've got big pieces of furniture that will need to be sold. I've got walls to paint and carpet to replace. Last night I ran my first fire call in 4 years. Even that felt great to do once again. Nice to get back to the thing I use to enjoy. It also made me think I need to re-order the house for what I'm going to be doing. Like my fire bag need to be repacked and kept at the front door for the next call. I'll be able to jump back in my Station #1 Captain position once again and doing all the fire truck repairs like I did years ago. Like riding a bicycle you'll remember pretty quick how to do it. I did do something fun for once and I gotta share. We need to be in Nampa area on Monday evening being Eileen's doctors appoint was at 8am next morning. We packed up a bit early and went down and went to a concert. This happen to be my first one in Idaho. Breaking Benjamin and Korn at the Ford Center in Nampa.

Tire recommendations
My 4 years of running back and forth to Ontario I've ran Hankook ATm 235/85 R16 (31.7") and 245/75 R16 (30.5") tires. Excellent winter traction still running 55 MPH in snow. Got at least 60k miles from a set of tires no problem. Now that that has ended I'm might have to revisit my ideas on tires for something a bit more for offroad being this spring I'll be back to cutting firewood again. Excellent fuel economy, low rolling resistance.

Pepsi's modified 1999 Long Term Injector study.
I'm running 7 x 0.010 @ 320 bar no issues all the way to minus temperatures. Starts very easy at +25*F and above without grid heaters. Last tank I got 21.25 MPG. I'm going to be rolling with the Cummins this morning back to Weiser, ID and then on to Nampa, ID to hit Eileen's storage.

Headlight upgrade problems.
Told ya... Just made a fire call for the first time last night and tickled the HIDs were in my Cummins. I was able to see deer along the road side very easily. Still gotta adjust the headlights in the 1996 Dodge. LED installed but the aim is wrong and too high.

I run 170*F warm up limit. This runs the super advanced timing of the stock ECM till warmed up then flips to my bit retarded timing after the 170*F. I checked on level 0 stock will twist about 21 to 22 degrees at 2K RPM then once warm up mode completes then it drops to about 19 degrees. It's worth looking at Level 0 sometimes to see where stock is vs your tune.

What mpgs with 7x0.010?
Quadzilla doesn't use much from sensors. It's mostly stand alone fuel and timing. Once Qyadzilla comes online past warm up runs it's own timing and fuel maps.
-
What mpgs with 7x0.010?
No Canned tuner. You can't change timing values. Only Quadzilla can. Well Smarty Touch could but it cost 1800 for 60 HP tuner.

95 2500 check engine light/ possible grid heater malfunction
Yup I agree with alternator check. Verify the blue wire for 12V at the field leads.

Radiator Recommendations Needed
Napa radiator in my truck. No issues.

What mpgs with 7x0.010?
Same here. My problem back with MoparMom see tends to be slow so I was typically running faster than normal to make up time. Now that is all a wash now and there is no schedules so now my MPG is starting to climb.
-
What mpgs with 7x0.010?
Cut wind drag and drove slower. No engine mods, fully stock.

Bad mpg with quadzilla tune
Holding cruise timing too long will hurt MPG's. I'm only running 20% with 4* of cruise timing. You can run more cruise timing on lower percentage of loads. Being my normal cruise load is 17% at 65 MPH I get to keep the cruise timing quite a bit. My base timing is retarded for local high cetane fuel which will shortly start to be reduced soon. 3.55 gears with 35 inch tires are not going to work. That puts your final ratio to the ground too low. 3.21:1 to the ground is your final ratio this will add enough drag to equal towing my 31 foot RV. Optimal final ratio is 3.55 to 3.73. I reverse my setup dropped the 265's and went to 245/75 R16 which is 3.69:1 to the ground, my cruising RPM is optimal at 2.500 RPM at 82 MPH. This has been twisting out 20 to 21 MPG for the last 2 years at 80 MPH tested many times even datalogged.

What mpgs with 7x0.010?
I'm one of the hypermiling nuts... Being hitting high MPG numbers for long time. My goal is to bet the 1997 Dodge 1 ton in the Diesel Power Magazine which made a solid 30 MPG. Still short 3 MPG to reaching that lofty goal. Now that I'm not a dialysis schedule any more those days are going to return and high numbers will start popping again.
-
What mpgs with 7x0.010?
Hypermiling is the point at which you have gauges for everything. Basically anything that creates heat is a loss of power. Reduce heat loss by reducing weight, wind drag, and rolling resistance. Like me I done all the weight and rolling resistance part. I just need to keep he engine load down and timing in the sweet spot. Timing is based on two factors which most will not get. Cetane of the fuel and the pop pressure of your injectors. Cetane that is high requires more retard, of course low cetane require more advanced timing. Pop pressure is going to affect clean atomized spray or big droplets that are difficult to vaporize and ignite. Hence why my 7 x 0.010 injectors were popped at 320 bar not 305 bar like most get. This provide a very fine mist but the timing is late. Quadzilla allows for adapting to different pop pressures and cetane. This is where Edge screws up big time. It follows the stock timing and adds rough +2 on top. So if the IAT temp falls to 80 or lower the ECM automagically jump +4 degrees to timing screwing up the winter MPG even worse. Hence this where my MPG fooler came to existence is because I understood colder air ment over advanced timing. Like myself my Quadziila is setup to watch Intake Air Temperature, Coolant Temperature and Engine Oil Temperature. As timing gets advanced oil temp will rise, being more flame front is against the cylinder walls. If timing is off engine load typically rises, this is due to being either retarded and only a percentage of the power is actually doing work. Or... If its too advanced the engine produces negative torque slowing the piston down as its still rising in the cylinder. So at the proper timing the engine load will be super low. Typically 65 MPH is about 16 to 17% for me. I data log all my fuel and have for years. High mark best is 27.2 MPG (Edge Comp, stock injectors) Last high was 21.25 MPG Typical average is 19 MPG currently.
-
What mpgs with 7x0.010?
About 2 degrees on average. But the load limit is 20% and the timing retard quickly above 20% engine load. The only way to keep timing on a Edge Comp or Edge EZ is drive slower. 55 MPH is limit for this device to keeping the engine load down so timing stays up! Like the Quadzilla I'm pretty well locked to 19 to 20 degree at 2k RPM. My last trip to Lewiston, Idaho I twisted out 21.25 MPG.

Please prayer for MoparMom
Yes. There will be another dog in the family. Eileen and I already talked about that. She has been looking at puppies and going nuts about wanting a furry kid. I think the biggest thing that help me heal is just "talking about things" as what is going through my mind. Like this morning my mind would not leave me alone waking up to dreams or memories of Mom. Partially remembering her in the hospital and other of hiking trips we've done in the past or camping. Eileen has a few medical appointments to take care of this week. I'm going to head in to work today and finalize a Chevy transmission that I need to finish. Then we are packing up and heading south. Being her first appointment is early on Tuesday hard make the 3 hour trek. Stay the night and do the next on on Wednesday go t the next one. Like yesterday was my first trip of freedom. Instead of going to Ontario or Boise for groceries we flip and went to Lewiston, ID. Very nice to get off the beaten path and go elsewhere to shop. Funny part we we up town and friend I know he happen to hunt me down on the streets. Nice to see him and gave him a big hug knowing he just lost his father and I just lost my mother. Just in 5 to 6 years since I've been there its been changed a bunch. time to relearn another city again. I catch myself constantly through day thinking of Mom schedule and looking at my watch. Really hard to stop that. When I back up and realize I've been doing this since 2004 which is 16 year. Yeah, its tough to let go. I'm going to put a small pause on life and have a bit of fun. Sad part is I STILL need to finish my truck and get the transmission done. Already been talking about camping trips and going places. Hopefully catch up with @JAG1 and @IBMobile this summer. Even talking about hooking up with friends I have not seen in over 7 months. That would be @Taz. He's only 35 miles from me but schedules prevented me from seeing him. We are slowly rebuilding a home our way.At first we were going slow and being nice about Mom's stuff wondering if she would be coming home again. Now Mom is gone we are moving along full speed ahead. We are bag up clothes for some of Eileen family that they could use. Pull blinds down dusting walls and ceiling. Bathroom upgrades and bedroom changes. House is still trainwreck but we'll get thing sorted out. Like me I want to get on business wise now I'm not traveling 3 days a week and constantly fixing my rigs. I made the order and got a fresh batch of Timbo APPS in for the site. I've got two order to box up this morning. Take a bit of time we will build our own system of handling things business wise.

Need to get your final ratio to the ground between 3.55 and 3.73. So for example my truck came with 265's and 3.55 gears. Now switching to 245/75 R16 that drop 1 inch on tires and final ratio to the ground is 3.69:1. This makes for optimal high speed travel. I've done plenty of 2,500 RPM runs at 80 to 85 MPH and netted 20 to 21 MPG. On the scales I'm barely 7,300 to 7,500 pounds on average. Need to shed lots of weight. That like towing my empty trailer behind your truck. My BigTex 70TV is exactly 1,800 pounds empty. I learn long ago not to carry any tools in the bed or truck. Does absolutely nothing. 5th gear disappeared. Nothing a toolbox could do, no way to fix. Lift pump failed, nothing a toolbox can fix without parts. Broke the mainshaft in the transmission nothing a toolbox will fix. I stopped carrying tools. 409k miles later and toolbox could fix ZERO of any failures I've had! Edge Comp, RV275 injectors, road speed limited to 55 MPH and MPG fooler was being used to retard timing. (Not advance). Now knowing these tricks from the past I've been able to keep 500 HP and still keep 19 to 21 MPG most of the time. Matter of fact Edge Comp broke the mainshaft in my transmission. My angle is remove as much drag and rotational mas and the power natural comes out. Currently 3rd, 4th and 5th gear are known to spin the tires.

Please prayer for MoparMom
Right now Priorities is getting some rest this weekend some how. Then heading to Lewiston, ID for shopping. I don't need to run to Ontario to get hit with all the memories. Eileen has a busy week taking care of her medical appointments. Once they are done we are free to travel south. Beyond that I want to have what most have a 9 to 5 job and a paycheck. Get a few months of normal life and then get rolling in to the fun stuff possibly. Summer is coming. I know there is 2 members talking camping trip. Gives me a goal of getting my transmission fixed and Cummins / Jayco RV ready to haul towards a camping trip. There is a few other people I want to travel and see too.

Please prayer for MoparMom
I gave my Mother an extra 4 years of life. Making sure she made it to dialysis for four years. 125 mile one way trip 3 times a week. (tues, thurs, Sat) I've created so many new friends and jobs down there its just sad that I close the book on many people for the time while I heal a bit. Actually I've been tending to Mom since 2004 when Dad passed away from cancer (16 years). I've now got to reprogram myself to tend to my wonderful girl friend Eileen Nickeson and myself. I spent many years being guided or directed by the medical field on what I was going to do next. Now it our time and our choices. I still have problems with sleeping in all those mornings of getting up at 4:30 to 5am getting Mom ready to haul south. Is all gone. I fight to sleep in but it will come in time. I will heal. Be nice to have a normal work week where I'm here in the valley all week. These are to come soon. Always seem like the last 3 months was something dragging me side ways and heading to doctors office. As for me soon I'm going to bolt and head south to visit Eileen Nickesons mother and her grandmother in law. This will be part of my healing process. Starting my new family. It was very awesome to here Mandi Thoreson tell me she loved me and I'm part of her family now. Thank you my dear that was super awesome. At this time I'm just trying to get my own home in order sorting furniture, books and messes. Trying to box up Mom's stuff and move on. That is tough to be all the memories come flowing back. Mostly good ones and make me miss her once again. Both of my parent raise a good son and I'm got a wealth of knowledge given to me by two wonderful parents which I took care of both my parents to there dying day. I've done my job the best I could for both of them its time to move on to "my life".

Please prayer for MoparMom
I can say I've had my cry quite a few times yesterday. Still sad about it. In the other hand I'm free from tending to mom. I've got my own plans of making a new family. I've got 4 wonderful daughter that enjoy talking with me. Then a son that needs a bit guidance. I've got now a mother to go visit in Susanville and another grandmother to meet too. I might of lost my mom but gained another family. I won't be alone. Hardest thing for me is to reprogram myself to my own life.
