  1. Made it through Christmas. It was quite the family gathering here. Eileen and I made a big ham dinner. We had my Mom come down to the guest house for dinner. Then Eileen's son family came to spend Christmas with us. I started Christmas morning with rebuilding a front driveshaft so I was ready for today's haul back south to Ontario. I will quickly say SKF u-joint have upgraded design with better seals and should hold up better. The very front u-joint was salt contaminated. So the red grease was turning white from salt and then with bit of rust inside as well on the metals. Everyone made it here about 4pm and the dinner began. Jacob and family stayed the night in my RV. They will be heading out this morning after me just about day break. I'm going to be out in the dark at 7:15am like usual. Eileen will be starting her new job this morning too. 2. Myself I'm running a HX35/40 Hybrid (60/60/12) with 150HP Injectors (7 x 0.010) @ 320 bar and Quadzilla Tuner. No problem to hit 47 to 50 PSI of boost. I've never move a boot or clamp ever. I'm running Vulcan Performance boots.
  3. Last batch I bought was Prestone and SuperTech Universal and both were the same yellow coolant but that was some years ago. I'm back to NAPA green on this load of coolant and creek water.
  4. Do yourself the favor and just change the thermostat. Please don't go the Cummins / Mopar route being Cummins and Mopar do not manufacture thermostats and currently Cummins and Mopar is using a Robertshaw 320 high flow thermostat which is produced by Mr. Gasket. Very poor quality thermostat that will separate and drop the bypass shutter in the block because of the junk design. Suggestion: NAPA thermostats have been working awesome for years here.
  5. Be better to re-do all the vacuum lines with air brake line and fresh vacuum hose rubber. I'm sure there is way better routing that could be done. It doesn't have to be routed through the middle of everything. No it does not have to run along the cowl either.
  6. The original stealth cover was designed as a plastic cover with holes drilled. Then the tap hole was threaded in the plastic. Common to strip out. Then it was updated to a hex hole on the back that is snug enough to hold the nut with plastic tension. Then the screw threads into the nut now. I've got both versions of covers the old is in my toolbox and the current upgraded on the pump now.
  7. Beyond me... Rare to see biodiesel here in Idaho. Then the price of biodiesel here if you do find its roughly 15 to 30 cents a gallon more per gallon over a gallon of petroleum diesel. Every time I get to Ontario, OR which is biodiesel required state and it just as high as the highest price diesel in Idaho. New Meadows is 3.399 a gallon and Ontario is 3.459. Then if I stop in Payette, ID I get super low price of 3.299 a gallon. When I tested biodiesel from Ontario I took a loss in MPG's always did better with petroleum diesel.
  8. I told you the money is worth it by a long stretch. Wait till you out on a lone road and tall trees and you'll see a way different pattern. Like I love the fact of the light pattern is super wide. It much wider than the highway then vertically it can light up just about 50 foot tall tree to the top. Make sure to set your step on the yellow center line. Then just enough vertical height to cover the pavement but not up on reflectors along the road or signs. Already have nearly 100k miles on my light no issues. Shutter, relays, bulbs, or ballast. All working as designed. You won't be able to install stock halogens again because the guts of the HID's have to have the lens pulled off and then remove the HID's then you could install the stock halogens again... Not possible on the road. Every morning the HID's are on for 2.5 hours and then every evening 2.5 hours they are one for the trip home. Power usage is much lower vs. halogen. 35w is quite a reduction vs. 60w halogen burning. Chances of failure is low. Next step would be convert the rest of the truck to LED tail lights and marker lights. Huge power usage reduction as well.
  9. Total cost of what is in the front of my truck is $1,000 worth of street legal lighting. My Morimoto D2S air aimed properly the cut off line is way low no way to blind anyone. My PIAA LED Driving lights are 100% street legal and proper cut off not like LED light bars which are not street laws in all cases. Play headlight war with me though and I will promise to light the inside of your cab like the sun just went super nova. Once in a great while I might the little low rider or such wink at me and then get the cab lit up. What? Really you need a shop for that? I've got the u-joints and the center ball for the cardan joint. Ran out of time yesterday but I'm going to repeat my last rebuild. Starting to vibrate in 4WD.
  10. Wal-Mart must of changed since my last use.
  11. Walmart is universal yellow or Prestone they are both the same and can be used in our trucks.
  12. Try 4,000 lumens in PIAA LED driving lights. That's even brighter. With winter solstice behind us... I can say I love the idea of flooding the highway with over 50 feet wide of light and 50 plus feet vertically on hi beams. The 4,000 out of the PIAAs flood the lane with light and you can see a mouse run for cover. I find tons of vehicles driving super slow because the stock headlight suck and barely light up the road. I can flood them with light even on low beams without blinding anyone...
  13. Nope. This is a old school double knob and the neck is plastic and its leaking from the neck. I've changed the o-ring even still leaking.
  14. Yup... The only problem is there is no money down here. He's looking for super cheap fix.
  15. Well the one I'm dealing with is junk. Long lag to get into gear and only has 1st and 2nd. Won't shift to 3rd or 4th. The owner wrecked his other vehicle and came to get his. I told him it was beyond me and nothing can be adjusted. Should consider a rebuild at a trans shop.
  16. Thursday trip home sucked big time. All you people with Toyota Prius's park those little stupid cars cars. All you with you wanna-be AWD cars driving 25 MPH in 65 MPH zone you are an IDIOT! Seriously!!! I'd seen 4 of them AWD off the road, then watch one bounce off a concrete guard rail 3 times. I got to the Weiser river bridge project waited for the light. There was 5 cars ahead of me and one behind. When I left the light every one crawled out at 25 MPH in 55 MPH zone. Highway was lightly snow covered. I pulled over took a leak let everyone go. Fired up my MP3 stereo and started rocking out. Took off. In just a mere 7 miles I caught the entire pile of 6 cars. Then once I past the Tamarack mill I opened up and passed all 6 cars dragging tail at mere 35 MPH and resume cruising at 60 MPH. Still only light snow on the pavement (less than 1 inch). If you holding up traffic PULL OVER not everyone wants to drag along for hours at 25 MPH some of wanna go home today! Another day... It's my Friday. Ontario trip today. Yesterday I've been working on my 6.7L CuMy relationship with Eileen @Wet Vette has been growing. We work as a excellent team when we can get together. She loves the place up here in the mountains and so does here family. Like her son came out and spent 4 days with his girl friend and son. They wanna come back for Christmas time. So, I talked it over with Eileen and she wants to learn about the website and help out.mmins with a code hole in the delete tune. I'm having issues getting the flash to go. With the weekend here I could not call for support the vendor was closed. As for my life I've done some talking to @Wet Vette and she is up to learning about the web site and helping out. She seen all the cables come in and me box up a set for DAP. My first box was 30 units so I sent 15 to DAP and kept 15 here for the web site store. Now I'm just waiting on @Me78569 to send some switch to me. Then we will be in business again. I've made the call to Timbo's APPS to get a restock again. Still waiting on a phone call back to get that going. My relationship with Eileen @Wet Vette has been growing. We work as a excellent team when we can get together. She loves the place up here in the mountains and so does here family. Like her son came out and spent 4 days with his girl friend and son. They wanna come back for Christmas time. So, I talked it over with Eileen and she wants to learn about the website and help out with the store and boxing up stuff for the mail. I'm trying to get a balance between the driving job and the wrench job. Wrench job are far and few in between right now. I've a got a few nickle and dime jobs. Then I've got the web stuff I'm trying to get to market being the website has invested thousands of dollars in to parts now we need to sell said parts to make the money back. Like right now I'm trying to keep the home functional. Fought with a leaking kitchen faucet. Darn plastic faucet leaking down back under the sink. The bathroom faucet is plugged up with something and barely any water will come out. Priced out faucets for the kitchen it like OMG Home depot in Ontario is like 100 to 300 dollars for a kitchen faucet that has some quality and metal. Below 100 they turn to plastic junk like I've got now. Like today I'm packing my laptop with me and going to work on the vector art for possible hydro-flask for sale on the site. I lost my can which is a killer 64 ounce can. I talked with the gent I got mine from he'll will to work a deal with me. Hopefully it turns out a good deal. Then a friend in New Meadows calls last night. He's a Ford man. He got his hands on a Ford truck body with no engine or transmission. He's ask for me to find him a 6BT Cummins that is p-pumped. So I'll have a retro fit to do soon. Then one of my past jobs was a transmission job on a Durango. I made a call to Jon @Dynamic and found out those transmissions are junk in design. Known for issues with solenoids and clutch issues. Nothing adjustable like the 46RE, 47RE, and 48RE. Basically this gent is going to need a transmission shop to just rebuild the transmission. Oh, The dumb thing... I got home and parked my truyck in the garage and forget about the packed snow the next morning there is water every where.
  17. Normal. Mine in cold weather initially can be way up in timing but as it idles for a bit it drops rather fast. The VP44 can go as far as 32* BTDC for timing.
  18. Standard Google Adsense... Depending on how much money your will to put out per day and when can make advertising well worth it measure. I will admit its rather pricey to do but can bring in a ton of traffic if done right.
  19. IOD fuse? (Ignition Off Draw) Fuse...
  20. I've made a change up in my cannabis usage. We are no longer going to use vape pens or vape cartridge cannabis. There is a few people having lung issues even with cannabis products. There is debate of the oils in the cartridges might not be absorbed well by the body and tend to harden in your lungs kind of like bacon grease would. We switch back to strictly flower usage. Now my late birthday present I got a beautiful glass bong. Very nice piece with ice chamber included. Lot easier on the body with cold drawing of smoke. What I did learn is that vape pens might be super high in percentage of either CBD or THC contents but your body will get use to those levels 70 to 80% THC. We where finding that cartridges where not last as long being you can consume more before feeling it. Now we are backing back down to flower that is in the 20's percent range. For me it is great muscle relaxer at night after working also great stress reliever. Even I've got a few friends that backed out of using RSO (Rick Simpson Oils) being that the process of making the oil is required to soak the entire flower in solvent. The problem is there is other contaminates that might be on the flower and processed into the RSO. Like my buddy he's now switch BHO and shatter being its a cleaner product. He's using it for pain relief for after his knee surgery which is much better than pain pills. The other thing that we changed up is we now have a herb grinder. This little grinder breaks down your cannabis in fine chopped bits and Keif is screened off in the bottom chamber. This is really nice because if you want a booster you can sprinkle on a bit of keif and it will boost the high or relief. Way less herb is wasted. Another thing is keeping your pipes and bong cleaned. After they start to discolor or have a foul flavor its time to clean them up. Day of old people would save the resin and smoke it again. I've tried that and it a foul flavor of everything mixed together and typically a headache is next. We use alcohol or acetone to clean everything up. Glass and aluminum pipes clean up quick and easy. On the bong it best to drain you water after every usage. I love to fill it up with ice cold water and then drop 3 ice cubes down the neck into the ice chamber. Super nice! Still hold to my guidelines of no cannabis usage till everything is done for the day. The only time when this can be broken is when your sick. I came down with something like the stomach flu or something. I will admit if your trying to eat and hold food down cannabis will do it. It will give you the hunger and also help with the nausea and allow you to keep functional and allow you to eat. Then a bit more after eating and it will help you sleep off the illness.
  21. Made my trip to Ontario, OR yesterday. Extremely cold morning started at +12F here and the quickly changed to -5F in New Meadows, ID. As I posted that on FB at breakfast my State highway guy posted up you should of waited another hour it dropped to -8F before the sun came up. Got MoparMom to the dialysis center. I quickly ran to the bank being I transferred the fund for high idle cables. Then had my bank make me a counter check for the cables. Made the 35 mile drive to Caldwell ID and picked up the first batch of high idle cables. Yup its true I've got cables and @Me78569 is building switches. There will be high idle kits once again. Personally I added a bit more to that check for the cables as a bonus. This changed the play field quickly. The shop manager was chasing out to the parking lot to meet me. So I gave him the low down on what we are building and because of the extra in the check the remaining cables should be ready by next week. Currently in QA testing. Quickly get spun around and headed back to Ontario, OR. I had a few things on the shopping list. Groceries, a bit of smoke, and few parts for the house. I've got a kitchen faucet that is leaking. Man, kitchen faucets can be expensive. Wow. @Wet Vette started her new job in McCall, ID. About the time I got MoparMom loaded up she was heading to work. As for coming home the roads a good and clear but cold enough that you had to be aware of damp areas. These could be frozen or icy. When I found out climbing grades and have the rear tires possibly slip some climbing grades. I made it home at just about 7pm. House was cold 57F inside. Promptly built a fire in the stove and started warming up the house. Evening passes... Now I'm up this morning and got a 2012 6.7L in the yard and then I've got Dodge Durango at the other shop. Bitter cold yet and dragging my feet some. Not wanting to jump out in cold morning air. Already this morning talked with Nick about the high idle kits and how many we are shipping to DAP. Yup. I'm going to have DAP sell a batch too.
  22. You guys don't want to see my wood pile rather shameful.
  23. I ignored that and customized to fit. In tapped on the trailer relay and they come on with parking lamps. My switch is in my overhead console.
  24. Yeah I've missed a few days here. Been busy of course. The only day I did absolutely nothing was Sunday. I never left the house... Monday I was up and jumping quick. My morning started with a nice hot shower to loosen up to then as I turned around in the shower the hot water went cold on me. Yeah can imagine how fast I jumped out of the shower. Grumbling and upset I drove to New Meadows to buy 2 water heater elements. By the time I got back and installed the new elements it was going on 11am. Took @Wet Vette little car to town and got fuel for her and found out what is up at the shop. Ran home grabbed a few things. Then proceeded to start a front driveshaft rebuild. This must of been the worse time I ever had in rebuilding a front driveshaft. I've done mine a few times and goes easy. This shaft from Russ's truck was a PITA. Fought to even get one joint out. Once I got it apart and the center ball bearing was exposed. I fought for quit the while Russ had a secret weapon I've got to remember. He's got a 3 finger slide hammer. The expanding finger barely fit the ball and then tighten it up and about 3 or 4 slides on the hammer and presto it was out. Now assembling this mess again was a PITA. It seemed like everything got screwed from here. Flipped needles over in the caps, binding up, etc. After 4 hours of fighting I finally got it together and smooth but tight. Now I've got Dodge Durango with Transmission issues to jump on next and 6.7L Cummins to look at. The Durango has issues where it will only shift 1st and 2nd gears. But will not shift 3rd or 4th. As for my ECM rebuild project I finally closed that... ECM was tested by ACS and was good. I got it installed and the truck started for all of 2 seconds and died. Back to its errors and lack of function. Without a wiring diagram for the 6.7L I'm not able to help much. The owner is planning on getting a full engine harness. Next jobs for Russ's is going to be doing a heater core in a Chevy pickup. Then I got to do a heater core in a Industrial Chevy boom truck. That should be fun...
