  1. I have a 12k# winch on my car trailer that I power off my truck batteries and my little power puck doesn't seem to mind. I would think that warning is if your truck is dead and getting a jump. Maybe the qwad wouldn't like the power spike but I can't say for sure.
  2. Shims go between the housing and the bearing.
  3. Mine is also cast with a 70-2u but no idea what it means. Sounds like "Bubba" got in your rear end...pause for laughter...and didn't know what he was doing. Pretty unlikely there would be no shims on the carrier. http://www2.dana.com/pdf/XGI.PDF
  4. Wow talk about a pucker moment, that could have been ugly. When I installed an aftermarket box I had to oval out the holes in the steering brace about a 1/4".
  5. My step dad had an old ford pickup and a cat decided to take a nap under the hood. He fired it up and heard a terrible noise. Let's just say in a cat vs. fan belt fight...belt wins.
  6. I took out the rubber door gasket and taped off right on the inside of that pinch weld. Not a bad idea to paint the whole door sill to protect it from boot scuffs. Obviously plastic off the interior unless you like paint smell for months.
  7. Michelob, Budweiser, Coors. Cheap and cold usually works for me.
  8. Well your not really pumping new fluid in, just adding new as the old is being pumped out. "Pump" old fluid out by turning the wheel/pumping the brakes and add new when the reservoir runs low. "The solution to pollution is dilution" Beer breaks are a requirement for this process to work correctly.
  9. Sounds exactly like mine but I have twice the miles. Run it hard and don't worry about it.
  10. I understand now. I was just referring to to the top cover as being one piece. It should separate from from the bottom portion you just have to be a little delicate. Some light prying might be necessary to pop out some hidden push clips. I have seen the drain hidden in the fender before.
  11. Most of the cowls I've had off are one piece. Typically there is at least a few screws towards the middles long with those plastic push tabs and maybe some metal clips along the bottom edge.
  12. Recently I was driving down a divided 4 lane highway, 7k lbs in tow, 62mph in a 65mph speed limit, hardly any other traffic on the road. I was coming up on a car going noticeably slower so I switched to the left lane and as soon as I did he started pulling away, so I jumped back in the right lane. A few seconds later I'm gaining on him fast so I switch lanes and again he starts pulling away. He did this to me 4 times and twice I had to slow down to 50mph to let other traffic go by. So needless to say I was slightly annoyed, seriously thinking about trading some paint with him. So I let him pull this stunt one more time and as soon as he started slowing down I unleashed every bit of HP the ol girl would give me, he floored it when I got next to him but I had to momentum. I waited until the back of my car hauler was a few inches past his bumper and switched lanes. He locked up his tires and quit screwing around after that. I don't encourage road rage but this guy had it coming.
  13. Most of those logs look like they weigh twice as much as a honda. Sounds like you could use a tractor.
  14. Do you know any of the specs on this filter?
  15. Very nice. I've been driving the 68 ford for a week. Been pulling down a solid 8mpg.
  16. And PDC is Power Distribution Center
  17. Sunrise a few days ago after night shift
  18. Is that .25 volts with the radio plugged in or unplugged?
  19. I have to brag a little here because at times it seems like my wife is more in tune with car maintenance than I am. All my preaching over the years has apparently paid off because she fills up at 1/2 tank and notices clunks/clanks/abnormal things before I do.
  20. Also North Dakotans enjoy their tobacco at a much cheaper price.
  21. Why yes we do. Actually I think MN gas tax went up recently to help cover government lack of planning/overspending. Or maybe it was tobacco tax...both affect me...cough cough
  22. My draw straw has been very reliable. I accidently found out I can drive for a long time with the gas light on. The trick is to install it correctly....
  23. It's possible, maybe a farmer will chime in. All I know is I filled up at $2.59 in Two Hatbors, MN.
