Upgrade my turbo?
If your wanting to do a brake, why not get a 351ve from a 6.7 with a brake. You would want the Fleece controller also. Check out some YouTube videos about it, several 1st and 2nd gens have done the swap.

I never had any problems after the level and none with the new coils either. I will get a picture of where the steering hit the cross member.

Problem I was having was, the steering would hit the crossmember when I hit a good bump because the bumper was so heavy.

What's Best For Our 53's?
I don't think it is different than any other block, just don't whoop the dog pee out of it cold. I know there are some that say its a fleet engine and you can start it and beat on it right away, most of the people I know do just that but I never have. I start mine and when I see oil pressure, I go easy until the thermostat has opened. I used to start and wait several minutes but I don't believe it matters.

RPM to speed ver gear.
Yes, you have 3.55's. Mine was the same with the auto. Im about the same now with the 5 speed and since dodge calibrated my speedo for the bigger tires.

Welcome to the fam, looks like a nice truck and the next one sounds like a cool project.

Pulled this lastnight
98whitelightnin replied to 98whitelightnin's topic in Utility Trailers & Recreational Vehicles (RV's)It was a crummy pull, the chain was not tight and when I took off it jerked and nearly stopped me. Next pull I will have my traction bars mounted and axle stops in.

RPM to speed ver gear.
You will want all that stuff for the new truck too.

These Thuren coils are alot softer than the stockers. I have heard the Carli coils are a little stiffer than the Thuren's but I only wanted a 2" lift and Carli didn't offer it.

Nice, I love my big bumper. I had 1" spacers but then moved to 2" Thuren coils and the ride is much better now. Truck sets about 1/2" lower in the front and that's the way I like it.

RPM to speed ver gear.
No, they are known to be inaccurate in the first place but when you add the smarty or any other power enhancing device they get way off.

Pulled this lastnight
98whitelightnin replied to 98whitelightnin's topic in Utility Trailers & Recreational Vehicles (RV's)First hook with the p-pump, hoped to do better but the track was really loose. Still had a good turn out and got to see alot of trucks

RPM to speed ver gear.
A 2nd gen with 3.54, automatic and stock tires should be running about 1900 rpm's at 70 mph. Did you correct your speedometer with the smarty for bigger tires?

What truck to purchase
I like the early 3rd gen truck (03-early 04) but there is not much more room in those back seats either. What about a mega cab or a 4th gen will bigger back seat?
