  1. Well its about time you mini mirrored potato farmer.
  2. I pulled mine once with a small steering puller. But now l have one from DAP for pulling the gear which works better. About 25 bucks. My VP failed on the highway and l had nothing else with me to pull the gear.
  3. Some folks seem to have VIN problems when mixing them some dont. Kinf of a crsp from what l have read. No personal experience however.
  4. No zerks, they are sealed. I have never touched them for any maintenance. I would like to find an original carrier bearing but no luck with that one. I am going to repace them after l retire. Be interesting to see in the caps.
  5. Definitely no fuse for the lift pump. The fuel system fuse in the pdc is for the VP.
  6. I still would want mine under ECM control and no just a key on hot.
  7. Have you read the codes since ECM replacement?
  8. How far do you have to go to find the TP?
  9. Well i will not scold for buying the pump. I paid big bucks to Dodge for one about 9 years ago. If I had to depend on for anything but getting to and from work i would have been in bad way. If you re using the truck for hauling for a living, you need a better pump. Just my experience.
  10. My oe last 75k. Better than some l have seen here though. My last one came from Blue Chip 8 or 9 years ago for $1700. It wasthe only one I could find with new electronics at the time. Not sure how much better theirs are today since they dont build theirs either.
  11. When l did mine the part came with a 9v battery and instructions on how to index it. Been trying figure out how to do that now since either the motor is gone or the blend stuck in AC position. I believe it is stuck in the full AC position but not sure.
  12. Thought you were speaking of a 98. Just noticed you have 2 trucks in your sig. My 02 is the same as yours, fuse 11 ignition, run, acc. 50amp
  13. I was really surprised that my LED's in the cheap housings l bought worked as well as they do. I think I got very lucky with the bulbs and the housing and hiton the right combination with them.
  14. I am still running the factory u joints and carrier bearing on mine. I found some new old stock u joints a couple years back from back in 01 and 02 according to the stickers them. They old ones are all still tight for now. Never dreamed they would last this long. I replace the front ones about 3 years back. The right front failed and l just replaced both. I hate grease guns but a necessary evil.
  15. The LED's in my headlights work just fine rain or not.
  16. I looked at the 99 wiring diagram and fuse 11 is aso shown as the 40a for the ABS controller.
  17. I have a spare serpentine belt and a fuel filter. Cant carry a spare everything plus most parts are pretty easy to get most anywhere l travel. The last major part l had to buy on the l95 corrider was this truck back in 01. My 96 with the V10 blew in SC on my way to NJ from FLA. Only took 2 days to get it.
  18. DAP has theVP's for $1000 + the ride. One year warranty. They also have other options. That is where I got my last one. His come fron Industrial Injection l believe. There are very few rebuilders and many, many sellers. Remans are are the only thing available. The code reader might not tell you anything if the pump is gummed up from sitting. If you work on your vehicle they are a very good tool to have. Have you ever verified you do have fuel to the VP or the head? @Blueox01 l made 277k off my last one. That seemed to me yo be pretty darn good compared to others. What are you doing to get such longevity?
  19. No sir I have not. These 70 hour weeks are taking its toll on this old man.
  20. Open a couple fuel lines at the head and see if fuel, comes out while cranking. Loosen the nuts completely and you should see a good stream of fuel. If there is no fuel it could be the vp or maybe the lift pump. You can test the lift pump by bumping the starter, no engine start, and the pump will run for 20+ seconds. You have to get near the fuel tank but should be able to hear it run. Or you could open the drain on the fuel filter canister, do the same starter bump and fuel should stream out of it. That will make mess though without some thing to catch it. As far as checking the VP, Blue Chip Diesel has a very good trouble shooting guide for the VP. Far better than anything I could tell you.
  21. Fuel pressure from the lift pump. Do you have a FP gauge? While they advertise the in tank pump for our years they are not great pumps for a VP truck. Dodge put one on my truck to the tune of $900+ 12 years ago. About a year later it was barely making any pressure. Did you check for any trouble codes? Fuel connections all tight? Any fuel leaks? Fuel in the tank? Bad VP maybe? Recheck anything you messed with during the install. Something may have come loose and you lost prime in the fuel system. Also open a couple lines at the head and see if any fuel is coming out while cranking. No fuel no start
  22. I think any of the ramans say it somewhere. Never looked on this newest one from DAP. But there is nothing on the cover of this one.
  23. I took mine off about 2 years ago and cant tell a difference. Running 265 75 16's. Have little play in the steering box. Box has 505k on it though. Steers maybe a bit better than new, certainly close to new anyway. Hard to remeber 18.5 years back. But l personally will not buy another.
  24. Mine was changed under warranty but l cant remeber whether the sticker was still intact afterwards. But it was there when l bought it.
  25. Crossing 3 or more states it could be pain. Glad I dont have to do it.
