  1. Welcome to the forum FMhouse! Although there may be work arounds, it is HIGHLY unlikely the PCM/ECM from the 99 will work properly with the 2001 engine. If possible, can you obtain the PCM/ECM & wire harness from the donor truck the 2001 engine came from? In my opinion, this will be your best bet for success and the least amount of problems. Is the 2001 engine an HO engine? If it came out of a manual shift truck with a 6 speed manual transmission it is highly likely it is an HO. Different VP-44 than standard output engines and will require the original harness and brains.
  2. Thanks, a good laugh is the best way to start the day off.
  3. Sorry to hear of your wheel cracking problems Mike. That really sucks! I had to replace one of my aluminum wheels after the tire was shot and the sheriff dept. vandalized it. It was at the time impossible to find just one aluminum wheel. I ended up having to buy a set of 4 wheels for $400 off of eBay. I keep them for spares and now I am glad I bought the full set of 4. It also lets me keep a couple of tires all mounted up and ready to go in the event of a flat.
  4. That is what I am using on both of our trucks. I use one in my truck as an added safety filter in the event something goes wrong with the filters on the Air Dog 150. Hightly unlikely but might help me out in the event if I got bad fuel with a lot of water in it.
  5. In addition to the above, you might want to consider pressure washing out the radiator being careful to use a reasonable amount of pressure and spray pattern (wide) and blow the radiator out with compressed air. You would be amazed at the amount of bugs and crud that builds up in there.
  6. Glad to hear you are not tore up too bad. You should use this incident to consider looking at life and how you want to be physically inclined in your future. Take care of what you have and make it last. Everytime you sustain an injury like that, the injured area is NEVER the same again......and usually does not recover to as good as new. Take care and heal up.
  7. I used one of the big cans of R-134a, oil, and stop leak last Summer. I intially overfilled the system and had to let some out but (knock on wood) the system is still cooling fine. It was FAR FAR cheaper than having the leak repaired. At least I can hopefully get more use from the system for and extended period until it craps out altogether. Then I will have to bite the bullet and have it repaired.
  8. Got an email from Go Daddy. They migrated the website to another server. The website seems to be working the best it ever has now for that past few days. Even faster than this forum now. Anyhow, the forum posts and traffic have really picked and things seem to be back to much better than normal. If anyone has any problems on the forum please let me know so I can get on the horn to Go Daddy.
  9. Guys, I have opened up a trouble ticket with Go Daddy. I just got off the phone with them and they are still working on the issue. They are working on moving the website to another servers and researching the MySQL server none response and slowness issues. Hang in there, I am working the issue as best I can. If GD cannot get their act together, I may have to look into going with another web hosting service. In the mean time, please be patient and know that I am aware of the issue and have been for a good while as well as calling GD to do some MAJOR azz chewing about this. :banghead:
  10. Yet another reason why I started my website for personal preparedness, survival, and self sufficiency. http://www.tractorfarmandfamily.com/ I keep the book cover of my website kinda low key and more geared to a mix of not only rural living but personal preparedness, survival, and self sufficiency as well.

  12. I like the Vendors over drive unit. That having been said, I just don't see how the huge cash outlay can be justified on the premise of this unit paying for itself or even reducing fuel costs enough to offset the huge cost of the over drive unit. Most of our trucks will already get 21 - 24 mpg running empty provided the vehicle speed is kept below 50 mph. The laws of physics are still in effect. If you drive faster than 50 mph, you vehicle fuel mileage is going to fall off proportionally no matter how tall a final drive you use. In my opinion, our trucks are pretty much already geared to run in the engine's most efficient rpm/power range. If you want the Vendor's overdrive unit for the ability to split gears and operate under a much wider range of gear ratio's to keep the engine in the most efficient rpm/power range, then there may be some benefit from installing one especially for towing and hauling applications or you just want one because the additional range of gearing is appealing to you yeah go for it. Otherwise, I think you may be spending a LOT of money for something that may yield disappointing results. You can buy a LOT of diesel fuel for $3200. Just my worth.

  15. Diesel is nearly twice as efficient as a gas engine. It burns I higher BTU content fuel than a gas engine and typically runs about double the compression ratio in many cases. http://www.howstuffworks.com/diesel1.htm http://auto.howstuffworks.com/question399.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diesel_engine Some diesels although not many modern consumer use or light duty are 2 stroke diesels. For instance some the now discontinued Detroit diesel or the Waukeshau diesels (kind of an odd duck) Hopefully this will give you some food for thought.
  16. Well, it appears that there is already a run on potassium iodide. About 3 hours after I placed my order, the they raised the price $10 on the family pack of 7 and discontinued the 40 and 100 packs. Glad I ordered when I did at $79.
  17. GOOD call! Here is where I ordered mine: http://www.kio3-usa.com/ These guys are sponsors and vendors for Survival Blog: http://www.survivalblog.com/ If Jim Rawles allows them on his blog, they are legit.
  18. I was able to buy the correct key fobs for my truck and they programmed up according to the enclosed instructions. Did you check to ensure the fobs you ordered were the correct fobs for your year and model truck or email the seller about verifying the correct fobs? Here is another link to a key fob you may want to look into. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Dodge-Ram-Dakota-Durango-Keyless-Entry-Remote-56045497-/170612496440?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3ADodge%7CModel%3ARam+2500%7CYear%3A2002&hash=item27b94c1838
  19. Be very careful not to add too much oil like I did. I used one of the freon refills like Mike shows in his pics above. It turns out that I just needed some freon and had enough oil. I ended up having to let some oil out of the high side schrader valve to stop the ugly noise my compressor was making. Been running good since.
  20. Welcome to the forum rbwerst! Glad you found us.
  21. The alternator bracket creates an interference, at least on my friends truck which is a 99 model.
  22. We found the fitting we were looking for, just took a good bit of looking and cross referencing. It was a tee-fitting that splits off of the turbo oil line to send oil to the Centrifugal filter.
  23. Currently working on adapting a Fleetguard Centriguard CH41102 Centrifugal Oil Bypass filter to 24 valve 2nd gen. trucks. We were having some difficultly finding oil line fittings. Will post pics and part number with my supplier contact for the Centriguard once we have everything worked out.
  24. Great write up and pics! I am sure others will definitely benefit from your post and experience.
