(This is a project only at this time and 2nd on list) Last week neighbor asked me to give her kids car a battery jump at local grocery store. Had to use wifes CRV as my dash still out of my 01. When I arrived I couldn't get near enough to jump battery. As I'm sitting there waiting for somebody to move their car. I'm thinking I need longer and better jumper cables. Project is... I'm thinking 2/0 welding cable has would cover the project of about 25 feet. From right side battery and underneath to back bumper. Once at back bumper going to use "Anderson SB 50 amp" connector. I just put a vp44 on my truck and got it running but it idles at 1000 rpm but when I floor it it’ll idle at normal rpm. With the key on I tested all 6 wires and they all have right around 5v. Unplugged the tps and it idles fine obviously but what should I be chasing at this point? Codes are p0123 p0113 p0118 p01693 x2 p0236 p0237

Well I have finally came up with a solution for the dreaded torque management that has plagued us 2nd gen owners for decades, and best of all its free. It all happened by accident actually. I opened up my trans due to some funny shifting issues and found every screen inside it was full of metal shavings. Which obviously meant that they got past the filter but more on this later. I cleaned all the solenoids and sensors of the metal and the little screens that protected them along with installing a new filter and fluid. So 2 days ago, I disconnected my grid heaters after testing ac noise. Which was .034 after using them all winter. Now the wait to start comes on like normal, I turn truck over it's barely stars and then dies.so I turn it over again, get it to idle, and its puffying out white and blue smoke like a train from exhaust. Temperature was 36 at 7am when I started it. I disconnected grid heaters at battery like it was suggested so as to not throw codes. HI Guys, I bought a Built unit and I'm dealing with the Black smoke output. As long as I leave it in Cruise control it will just build boost and climb the hill in overdrive. But when I interface with the throttle Black Smoke BABY!! Drop out of over drive and it goes for a little then it Black smokes. So in doing my learning, reading, It's been suggested that a Quadzilla V2 would allow me to tone down the injectors, and Tame the Smoke. Newby here. Sorry if I posted in the wrong area. Just got this truck so the super chip is going in the trash. Ok I have full gauges. New vp new lp new apps. I have no white tag to set volts to first off. So how do I know what to set it to? Second it revs like a monster in neutral with 13psi. Wot it's at 11psi idol its 18psi. Pulls hard till about 20psi of boost or 2200 rpm. Then sometimes it does it at 10psi and 1400rpm. Sounds great till then. If you ease in to it it wont change anything. And I can't get the chip to connect to ecm. I get a code but only after I run the truck.shut it off code goes away.

I went to remove my filter to look at doing the lockup switch the other day. I noticed an oily mess on the firewall and around the A/C components. At first I thought my A/C was leaking though it still works great. I checked the turbo and noticed a fair amount of shaft play and the blades are turning black and sticky. It also appears oil is seeping out the back side of the housing as well which is where I think the mess came from. I was really hoping to do something different with the turbo when this happened but unfortunately I am strapped for cash as I can barely afford the rebuild. Does anyone have a 4x4 locking /free hub/spindle kit on their truck? A guy's dodge truck in the shop has the yukon free spin kit installed. He said he gets better fuel mileage and he can feel the difference driving around I always thought about installing one of these kits. Cant remember what brand I was looking at

My needle is jumping like crazy at highway speed it's at 0 then 120 then back to 0 I've replaced speed sensor and the wiring cleaned connection up put dielectric grease on and on the pcm as well guage cluster is fine no codes on it

Anybody see or hear about elec damage from water, (washing or rain, etc) getting in from the cowling? There is a piece of rubber on each side by hood springs, mine have came loose. Going to glue them back on but wonder if beefing up some might be worth the time. Just wondering if might be problem.

Going to try and keep this from becoming a long novel...I basically have 2 separate issues in 1 thread (might be related). Long story short, I have been having these intermittent surging issues since late May of this year (happened 4 times I believe). Fast forward to now I am dealing with three things: P1693 P1698 High Parasitic Draw For the longest time I was getting a solo P1693 with my scanner which as I understand cannot exist by itself. I was towing the 5th wheel yesterday to get it set up for the wife and kids to camp in, and while I was going up a hill I lost turbo boost and my EGTs went up. Pulled over and discovered that the first intercooler boot had blown off of the intermediate pipe. My guess was that the clamp wasn't tight enough or had backed off, so I put it back on, went back at it and half hour later it came off again! Hasn't come on since, but it did seem like it was a little stretched out. I'm thinking I should replace the boots. All I've found is Vulcan or factory boots. Which should I go with? I have a BD Modified HX35, which I believe is essentially an HX35/45 Hybrid. …

I have an 01 24valve after having the truck sit up for a little more then a year for major upgrades and front end repairs. I filled the tank for the first time and changed both fuel filters on my fast flow setup. At idle the truck runs perfect once a load is put on the engine it starts to show signs of a miss fire. Could the be because of a clogged fule filter? If so, i used the correct size socket on factory filter housing to check and replace if need fuel filter but the socket continues to round off. Is there a trick to remove the filter housing top without permanent damage? Also no codes shown on snap-on scan tool.

I have power loss sometimes. Sometimes going down the road empty I am at 50% throttle to do 70 mph and turning 1700 rpms this is when I have power loss. ALSO EGTS GO UP TO 1200 AND BOOST GOES UP TO 28 When running good I am at 23% throttle to do 70 mph 1700 rpms. boost 9 ish and egts 650 ish Things I have changed. All electronic sensors. Vp pump has about 20000 miles on it. Updated the programmer and re flashed the eco in the truck. This problem comes and goes. I can be driving down the road and all of a sudden it loses power. Then maybe the next time I drive the truck it will have power again but not always. Really not…

Hi everyone, got my injectors thanks to @Dieselfuture.. but havent got time to fit them till next week when i get back from my 600 mile trip. i was going to put my boost elbow and fooler on tonight is there any point ?? Currently got a superchips tuner on and BHAF... the elbow comes pre set to 30psi. I havent got any gauges installed yet but they have been ordered. Any advice??

I have 2 issues with my truck. Some times my idle lopes from 800 to 900 rpm. This issue seems like not a big deal but maybe points to the other issue of a miss at idle and at speed.The lope issue seems to be only while the truck is getting up to temperature and it is inconsistent. The second issue is the truck develops a miss as it warms. I have isolated it to cyc 3 and 4 by using a snap on code reader /scanner. My son thinks I have a couple of leaking injectors or possibly crossover tubes. Truck gets good mileage 14 in town and over 20 on the road at 70.Truck information ; 180 k miles 3/4 ton 4x4 5 speed. So, I've been doing bolt-ons to the motor (62mm turbo, 125 hp injectors, S&B intake, BD intake elbow, 5-inch straight pipe exhaust, and V2 tuning). I have yet to touch the transmission besides regular maintenance. Every time I step on it, I get a little nervous that I'm going to break something. The 47RE definitely doesn't like the new upgrades.... it slips quite a bit when WOT. The guy I bought it off of said it was rebuilt 30k miles ago. Good Day all , I did search a lot before asking but I could not find. My truck is stock and I has boost / fuel pressure and exhaust temp gauge. So for the last 2 year my truck was always cutting fuel/power without me letting the gas pedal off. it was not noticeable physically but I could see it on the boost gauge , it was maintaining 4 PSI and then dropping to 2 and back up to 4 on a flat road. I have worked on vehicles off and on since the late 60s, gas and diesel , air cooled and water cooled and haven't had this happen before. I did a coolant flush as it was due and changed the thermostat because it was running about 5 degrees hotter the last year. The first new thermostat that I installed was listed as 190 degree and it did not open until 207 and not close until 183. I filled the radiator through the thermostat hole as i normally do and topped off in the cap , let it run through open 2 cycles. All good .
