2nd Generation Dodge Non-Powertrain

Bought some McQuiers' plastic trim and dashboard restorer and did the black plastic on one outside mirror and then did the other mirror using Virgin Olive oil. Let it sit for a few days in the rain and sun. Olive oil out performs the McQuires by around three to one (my estimation). Even the first day revealed olive oil to do far better. It's been a week now and the olive oil is still showing the plastic like new. Anyhow it works great. You will notice the white milky, somewhat chalky look on black door trim and plastic handles will disappear in a flash. A bit oily at first, wait about a day and it tones down to a nice look. So far seems to last. Cu…

I want to see pics of your trucks with running boards and hear your experiences with them? Thinking about getting a set to add ease of entry and protection from rock chips. I want chrome style and I want them to look good.

This just started this morning, a popping sound when making a tight right turn at low speed. In a parking lot for example. Had not done it turning left at all. Wife said she felt it in the floorboard when it popped. This is while in 2WD. Have not tried in 4WD yet. No obvious cause when I looked under the truck. Truck has 187,000 mile on all the stock hardware except shocks which I replaced last weekend. Suggestions on what to check for?

  4. I know my OEM headlights may be brighter then my ideas, but I can't see very well at night. Lots of us have poor lighting on our trucks, we spend hundreds and thousands modifying the truck, but most have stock OEM lights.Estimating cost at under $340 shipped for new sport headlights with a new set of bulbs and wiring harness. Would there be much interest in a plug and play kit with the sport lighting which uses a 9004 &9007 bulb at the same time in each headlight instead of just the 9004?Tipsto get better light you can:1. can use rubbing compound or degreaser on your yellowing lights to clear obstructed lenses2. do not use blue tinted lights or the "WHITE"' lights a…

  5. Ah, Dodge Cupholders. There are so many classic designs. Remember the old 1994-7 dual action one designed to either flip a mountain dew onto your right inner thigh and knee or bounce it vertically so it spills all down your radio and fills the CD slot with goo? How about the 98-02 model that looks super cool, fits up into the dash, but squeaks... creaks... and you only put one drink into because it is made of paper mache? I decided that I had enough. I went to Genos and ordered the center console cupholder I've always wanted. Let me break it down for you. This cupholder CHANGED MY LIFE! I am not sure what this says about me, my personal standards, or qu…

I have an am/fm cassette factory sound deck. Non premium. I've got speakers right left and front rear intermittently cutting out. Bad deck or wiring issues likely?

I know this has been discussed at length, and believe me, I've been through (I think) all the threads on this on multiple sites and just can't seem to get a bead on exactly what's going on with the non-factory-foglight trucks' wiring. I'm in the middle of a pretty extensive interior rehab and figured it's time to finally dive in. I have a 2001 (manual trans, I saw one guy claim that matters?) without factory fogs. I've picked up factory housings/brackets, bumper inserts, and a fog light headlight switch. I do have the harness down by the front bumper. I pulled the headlight switch today, and it looks like the harness runs to the dash too. It also looks like it…

Hey guys. I'm looking to swap my overhead console out of my 99 and into my 02 before I finally sell the 99. Yea I know, I'm swapping everything I can! Lol! Anyways, is it just a simple one for one swap on the console? Maybe a plug already there? Or would need to take the plug along in the swap? Figure I'll have to swap the front sensor under the hood as well. If this was just something I was trying to piece together I wouldn't even bother but, DTE, a better trip meter and outside temp would be nice (if that would even work). So if anyone's done this swap or knows more about it, please chime in.

I know this probably isn't the best place to post this, but I thought it would be noticed here more than the other conversation areas and it won't be there for long. (2 days) On Ebay a guy is selling a 2002 2500 with all the bells and whistles with 20,000 original miles. It is a truck that looks like the day it was bought and is like stepping back 10 years. I have nothing to do with the truck or the dealer selling it, but thought someone might find it interesting to see a really nice original 2nd gen truck. There are lots of pictures. If I were a rich man this truck would be in West Virginia... I don't know how to link to it but the ebay auction number is 1906243751…

I've been trying to find some better mirrors for my 01. I really do not care for the Dodge flip up mirrors. I've seen something about using Chevy extendable mirrors on the 2nd gen but haven't found out for sure what year mirrors to use. Anyone here know anything about this?

My track bar just separated at the balljoint near the differential. Which is the best upgrade and why? I read on a few sites that the newer dodge pickups will match up front end components.? I also can turn the steering wheel about 3” to 4” before I get response for steering. What should I do to correct this steering and get it back to new steering. I have 285/75R 16 tires and stock 16” wheels. No other mods accept for a Darin’s steering stabilizer. The truck is a 2002 HO Cummins 2500 Sport

I added dye to the a/c late summer last year, and can not keep this thing charged. I am in process of changing out the evaporator. I checked out the evaporator with a uv light, and did not see anything light up on the evaporator. I followed all the lines as best I could, and can not find anything blaring out. The engine block does look like it has a haze on it from the a/c dye, but can not be sure. Has anyone ever had this issue before?

Well someone (brushed) my bumper with there car in my apartment parking lot and I'm annoyed enough to rant about it Ik it's only spray paint but I figured I'd go crazy so anyone have a opinion on a sturdy enough bumper hold up hitting a deer at 70 but not break the bank ik about the ranchhands moves ect I figure if I go this route and it happens again it will hurt

Has anyone ever had one of these apart? I may look mine later today, the PO had the spare laying in the bed, the end of the winch cable with the tire cradle is zip tied to the hitch frame. I assume it was seized up or something but the more I use the truck the more the spare in the bed gets in the way. I've looked at new winches and they're a bit pricey for what they are so just wondered if anyone has dissected one.

Drove to work yesterday, and saw I had 1/2tank fuel; seems right. Left work, started the truck, DING DING.. Low fuel light; WTF? Needle was below E mark. Rushed to fuel station ($3.899) and filled up... 18 gallons, that's it? Started the truck to only see the same thing. Reseated the connector on the tank to no avail. The needle barely moves from key on to key off. Do the level senders fail in this manner, or do I need to look elsewhere? Thanks, guys!

  17. I have heard stories about peopl putting a stick in your tank to check for red dyed fuel.So last night I was out by the truck and had a small stick and decided to see if someone could put a stick down inside to the fuel level. It can't be done on my truck. However I did go get a flexable piece of plastic line and it will go down to the fuel, but there is not enough on the line to tell.So that would tell me if they do poke your tank they have to use a tube and collect a sample of fuel.No Stick! Truth in doing.

Ok so I am able to get a set of Glow shift gauges EGT, Fuel Pressure, Boost, and three pillar pod for about $220.00. Which seems like a good price when compared to other sets. So my question is what's everybody's opinion on this particular brand? Are they good, and reliable or should I just not waste my money on them? Anybody out there with these particular gauges your experience would be greatly appreciated!

Hey gang,I've got a question. Is there a professional way to seal up the lovely wind noise from the top of the doors? The pins look like they are okay but I've never changed them with 235k on the truck. I've thought about getting some foam weather stripping from the hardware store and sticking that on there, but wanted to see if there was something I'm missing.:shrug:Thanks,Winslow
