Hp goals
I've done a lot of construction in my life and it's good money but eventually your body will start to break down, as much as I didn't care for school I had no choice but to take some classes for my current job and once I got that piece of paper, all of a sudden I became more important with much better pay. Even though same guy working with same people and really without much more knowledge then before the school. But that piece of paper apparently means a lot these days. Not saying you have to go to school just to go to school I never believed in that, but when you get a job and just by having a piece of paper you could double your salary then it's definitely worth it.

manual boost controller
I did not know you had a boost fooler, in my understanding you can adjust your wastegate all you want with adjustable boost elbows/etc but ECM is what's going to limit your fueling unless you get a box that fulls it.

Not till you get the quad, but you may want to order one now as it's going to take a month for the better to arrive

Stop beating around the bush and get the quad, I think you'll be amazed at what it can do with your hx35 and 75hp injectors.

Whine is usually something misaligned, whether it's just a lot of use on that gear or something has shifted.

Floating Gears
In 2001 they went from 1 1/4 to 1 3/8 so as far as I know 1 3/8 was as big as they got. But still $1500 that I didn't want to spend at the time...hopefully I'll never regret it. But I also don't want a garage full of spear parts for just in case, done that before and then I'd sell whatever it was for and usually ended up giving most of it away with that vehicle. Trying not to make that mistake again.

Floating Gears
Man I should of grabbed a spear 6spd for 1500 when I had a chance had 180k on it and from 01 with bigger mainshaft.

sorry to keep bugging you, but was second gen all stock, did you have bigger injectors, gauges, what was the limit on your egts when towing all that time. Just trying to figure out how to make this thing last even 500K already had to have a machine shop put new valve guides in at 156k which is sad. I know a lot of your miles are highway but still a lot of them are also towing. Plus if you don't mind I wouldn't mind seeing a few pictures of some big boats you towed behind your 2nd gen if you have any, I've seen one on this site look like by a motel. Thanks again

painful things to watch people do in their trucks.
No kidding, I used to have a tundra myself it was a nice pickup, average 18-19 MPG and was way better than F-150 I had before similar a year. That's the only thing I'm going to compare to is a half ton. I still would take Tundra over Chevy or Dodge or Ford that's 1/2 ton and it's good to pull a smaller load but some people listen to salesman, we've stretched our breaks and our frames don't rot away anymore and it's like having a 3/4 ton, bla bla bla. After one of my friends bought a Ford with a 7.3 in it and seeing how easy it was pulling same trailers we pulled before, I knew Tundras didn't have anything on it. Edit, @JAG1 I corrected my phone again and it changed meaning to my message, might want to see if your like still applicable

I think you got a really good point, not all pumps are the same. It's no wonder they say your pump is wearing out when your MPGs start to drop. I've been wanting to change my VP ever since I got the truck because I had symptoms like it was going out, but with all the mods I did since then thanks to this site, it seems to be doing good aside from constant MPG. For a while I wished I had a death code for the pump so I wouldn't be second-guessing it, just didn't want to change it out for no reason. At the same time I think with summer fuel and warmer temps it went up from averaging 16 17 to 19 20 driving with an egg between pedal and floor. No chicken jokes please, I think dripley had enough picking on lately.

The legend himself, nice to meet you sir. I'm with you on 4th gen if I ever get a newer truck I'm skipping over 3rd gen straight to 4th like i did with pagers. Glad to see you still around.

Dropping the transmission, tips n tricks
I believe on the dipstick there is just a bolt that holds it to engine and it pulls right out, I think there may be an oring or something similar. It wouldn't be a bad idea to use some Loctite, torque is always good, but a lot of times I just went hella tight too ha ha. I've tightened so many bolts in my life my hands are kinda like torque wrench now.

New guy
So if I'm not drunk when rescuing I should be good just to leave that stud in pdc empty or use it for something else? If that's the case I'm all done then
-
4x4 spin free locking hub spindle kits
Does it use common bearings or is it special, I think I'm almost due for front hubs and kinda considering going free spin. What about abs stuff is it all incorporated.

@dripley @IBMobile I just did this ground/alternator charge wire mod. Have not hooked up cables to battery yet wanted to make sure I'm on the right track. Question, the wire that ran from alternator to pdc is now at passenger battery how important is it to put an line fuse like it was in PDC. And another question in PDC where alternator wire used to be, do I just leave that blank or use it like @dripley power lift pump from there or something else and it will be protected by a fuse which can be changed to a different size. @IBMobile I know you mentioned something about not using a fuse because Volvo doesn't but I forgot which thread that was in, and I remember @Mopar1973Man saying something about frying things if there is no fuse between alternator and battery. On the other hand I'm happy to take time and redo that wireing with cheaseeee glue connections, thanks again to @W-T for his knowledge on this electrical stuff that potentially caused headache to many prior to discovering this mess. Edit: Sorry to OP didn't mean to

He needs to level out his drive way with some riprap a bit so he doesn't drain his battery's every time he comes home, it'll be an expensive electric bill charging them every day.
