Mean While on Hoth....
About 15* her this am and I delayed my departure for work. I only had to drive 150 miles east of here but the temps stayed low an the ground was covered in snow the whole way.Cant remember the last time i saw that. Could have turned around and see that for several hundred miles in the opposite direction. Odd winter we are having. Hope all you folks on the west coast do not float away.

busted console lights
Well the other week while poking the passenger side overhead light it broke and would not click on or off anymore. Beings I had a lot else on my plate it seemed pretty insignificant at the time. So last week I went for the drivers side and bang it came apart. So this weekend I pulled the console and put them back together. All the parts were still in the console and it seems that the switches had just come apart. I glued them back together with RTV since that was all I had and hope they stay together. If not I will super glue them the next time.

Injectors
While I put my 275's after the Banks system I installed, they were a nice little bump in power and I saw about 1 mpg increase in mileage. I am hoping with 50;s or so I might see the same. Only time will tell. My 275;s came from DAP with no issues. Not knocking Vulcan, just thought it ought to be said.

Ambient Temperature Depending Performance
Using that as a base line, my dash gauge is up over 40 in less than a couple seconds. Even this am at 15*. I have to temper that with having it plugged in and the water temp reading at 73*. I have also started the truck at 20* without being plugged in with very similar results. A little harder start but the oil pressure goes up fairly quick. I have also noticed several folks her say they have to plug in quite early to get the temp up. I plugged in this am and was up to 73* in just over an hour. ECT read 73* and IAT read about 50*.

New Cummins owner - Intro and beating the dead horse on fuel delivery
Amazing how much you miss after a post. I would like to add that when I found I had problems with the intank pump I installed a booster pump sold by BD diesel. They worked fine in tandem and eliminated the problems I was having. This was long before i became a member or knew anything about fuel pressure. Ran that set up for near 3 or 4 years before replacing the the whole thing with an AD and a pressure gauge.

Injectors
I have done a little searching on injectors.and nowhere have I seen self install voiding a warranty nor only new for a Dodge Cummins. Maybe I have led a sheltered life. Have not seen it mentioned here before from anyone. On top of that even "My Dumb ***" can install injectors in a couple hours in my dirveway. $930 for that package, even including tubes, is whacky. You have to pull the tubes to do the injectors.

Ambient Temperature Depending Performance
I have to ask the question about oil pressure coming up too slow. Mine is an 02 without a true pressure sender. While starting in this cold weather I always see my pressure gauge come up almost immediately. by that I mean in less than a second it starts to move. How I understand it is my sensor responds to about 6# of pressure. I am assuming the only reason it goes higher is because the ECM is just reacting to input from said sensor. I guess the only way to really know is to install an oil pressure gauge. Since I dont normally see the temps I am experiencing now it is not on the top of my list. I guess I did not ask a question, just trying to be sure I am seeing correctly.

I dont know about the Fuel boss but am curious as to what fuel pressures you are seeing with that in tank pump? Mine was pretty useless not long after it was installed.

Mean While on Hoth....
Been quite a while since I have seen weather this cold or colder. Just dug out the wifes car and drove up to the main highway, had no problem for the most part. Turned around went back confident the wife could. Just got back from pulling her out of the ditch. So much for that idea.

Mean While on Hoth....
I cant claim what you all are seeing. It is only +26 and we got 6 or 7 inches of snow. Supposed to get down around 10 tonight and tomorrow night. Thats a pretty good version of Hoth for us out here.

Me, I am electrically illiterate. I can do some basic stuff but have not taken the time to learn a lot. Barely enough to get me by. But I am learning, but slowly.

Mean While on Hoth....
I dont know about the panic room but grocery store shelves will look like they do in the Walking Dead. Never have figured out the panic people get into. Even home the main roads will be open in a day or two. I dont remember any panic while growing up when it snowed more down our way, Just anticipation for the snow to come. Much easier to deal with it when you're only 10. My office in Atlanta is already shutdown schools all closed and everyone is headed home. I lived there back in late 80's and early 90's. They used to wait to the last minute to close anything and dump 750k people onto the streets. That was a disaster. Now there are near 4 million people there. I dont blame them for cutting out early. That is just another reason I do not miss living there.

Careful now. I might take this personally, even if there is some truth in it.

Truck shuts off but starts back up
Auto shut down relay. I always thought is was there to shut the truck in an emergency, like a wreck. I did not think the truck would run without it energized. But it seems the more I tried to find out about it last night the less I knew. Not really sure what it does now.

Fueling questions, Return fuel line and fuel module
We have folks here doing it both ways with success. The only thing I question myself on is how hot is the fuel returning from the head and does it raise the temp of the fuel enough to effect the cooling of the VP computer? This would only be during low fuel level conditions. I dont seem to have any issues. The pump has 175k on it now and all seems well with it. On the plus side you will always have fuel in the basket until the pump sucks it all out. That was my thinking when I installed mine. I typically fill up with near 31 to 33 gallons so my truck sees low fuel levels on every tank. This is all based on an electric lift pump, not sure how the mechanical ones are set up.

Glass Head on small motor
It is all pretty amazing even with the lower rpm our trucks turn. Then you think about a race engine and the rpm they turn and it all still works. Pretty cool.

Fueling questions, Return fuel line and fuel module
If you are pulling fuel from outside the fuel module it does not make any difference where the return goes. Mine is pulling from the module and both my returns are in the basket. It pretty much insures I can pull all the fuel from the tank and have darn near done that several times over the years. Still scary to put 35 gallons in the tank, just means i stretched it a little far. Now there is a valid argument on dumping the warm return fuel straight to the pick up and just pumping back thru the system. I have no way to check the temp of the fuel coming back from head. I would think the return from the pump would not be much warmer than it was when pulled from the tank. Even then I would not think any of that matters until below a quarter tank or so.

New Cummins owner - Intro and beating the dead horse on fuel delivery
My long bed will actually make a 3 point road turn on two lane road. A two wheel drive is another story though. Driver ability helps too. Exhaust brakes, while pricey, are worth every penny. It is perhaps the best mod I have done to my truck for DD and towing.

New Cummins owner - Intro and beating the dead horse on fuel delivery
@jokra I dare your Dad to strap 15k to the 1500 and drive off in it. You might have a short bed, but it will. I have not ever been able to resist the "missing 2' of bed" comment. Just me. As far as the color, "Beast Mode Red" ought shut anybody up. It will me. That's pretty Manly!!!! Are you seeing this Mikey? Show your truck some love and it will love you back. You have come to the right place to find that. We do have a little different opinions on how to do that from man to man, but it all seems to work.
