  1. Washer nozzles go bad, plug up, when hard water deposits form in them or an alga blockage . If you can take them off, with out braking them, soak them in CLR then rinse and blow air backward through them. Some times you can run a very fine strand of wire through the openings.
  2. He smiles when he's going for the beer. @KATOOM this will show you a good place to put the filter.
  3. Yes they are easy to reseal. On other module vehicles that use the Saginaw power steering pump I've seen leaks due to stress cracks at the bolt holes in the fluid reservoir. With the miles on that pump it might be better to get a rebuilt unit. Get one with a lifetime warranty.
  4. They must have shipped that last one to the same address as the first two … La La Land.
  5. It was a typo. My head lights are not sport so I have only the one blub, 9104. I think you could use them, also, in the low beam position if the terminals in the blub connector are moved. If they're 9104 they should be the same, 80/100 watt. I found these on eBay https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=9104+flosser+bulb&_sacat=6000 None, other than a twitch in my left leg.
  6. You didn't have this problem and no codes before the VP44 was replaced? Is this right? If so then you have a wire problem probable in the harness near the VP. Open the harness near the V Pand check for a bad power/ground splice or pinched wires
  7. I use an LED head lamp like the one below. What ever you're looking at be it under the hood, truck, dash or the brakes and tires it will be illuminated. It works great day or night and both of your hands are free. No extra wiring needed and it fits in the glove box, door pocket or under the back seat. You can also use it if you need to work on a trailer you towing. Good ones sell for $20-$40 and get the one that has 3 AA batteries; they're brighter and stay lit longer.
  8. I doubt the wires running close to each other is causing this but the grid heater put a very large load on the alternator which would produce a higher ac voltage signal. Try this, disconnect the grid heaters main power leads from the left battery positive clamp and see what happens.
  9. Manufactures are only required to supply parts for vehicles for 10 years; after that it's at their discretion what parts to supply. They will then supply the fast moving, money making parts. I bought my truck at Jack Powell and have a wholesale parts account with them. I'll make sure I ask for Nolan next time I'm in there.
  10. The green/white wire behind the AC controller. Leave a little pig tail (2-3" long) from the plug in case you want to use that function again.
  11. Glad to have you here, where people come to tell stranger than fiction stories about their trucks and other things. It'll be nice to have another tech who can enrich us in the latest from Mopar and bounce ideas off of. I worked in dealerships for 24 years. If the dealership sells unauthorized aftermarket parts or modifies their products in a nonprescribed way corporate will put the hurt on the franchise from pulling cash bonuses, reducing car inventory allotment, to revoking the franchise, The auto manufacture only makes money when they sell their stuff.
  12. Welcome to the site. I don't know how much Cummins food there is. Most of use like pizza and beer, chicken wings or the lobster buffet but it's an all you can eat forum. Truck repair with RV parking Reasonable Rates Call now, Operators are standing by.
  13. Never mind... I see it now.
  14. Now the rest of your truck is going to be jealous and want a face lift. Don't forget to put the felt isolators on. From whom did you procure it?
  15. The PCM should not have any influence over the regulation of alternator voltage when an external regulator is used but the alternator voltage will have an influence over the PCM. Maybe the external voltage regulator is going/went bad.
  16. I changed out a set of bald 265/75 R16 Goodrich KOs for slightly used 245/75 R16 Michelin a couple of years ago. I use the truck 90% of the time pulling my 5er and have gone on two 7,000 mile trips this last year with this size tire. Yes, the sweet spot for towing with a 4.10 is right around 2,000 RPM. At that RPM I cruse in 4th at 65 MPH indicated. The truck pulls very well when going up hills and I drop down to 3ed, this keeps the exhaust temp down. The change to a 245/75 R16 tire will increase your finale ratio to 4.26 and the speedometer reading at 65 MPH indicated will really be 62.4 MPH https://www.discounttire.com/learn/tire-size-calculator https://tiresize.com/gear-ratio-calculator/
  17. The same tools at Harbor Freight cost more and their quality is barely good for a do-it yourselfer. https://www.harborfreight.com/automotive-motorcycle/refrigeration/3-cfm-two-stage-vacuum-pump-61176.html A mechanic starting out needs to buy quality tools that will last a long time and in tools you get what you pay for.
  18. That's because old people's skin gets thin and they go deaf. I found a TBS list at TDR and didn't see a fix for drain back. https://turbodieselregister.com/tdrarticles/TSB-2012.pdf
  19. NAPA shows 6 thermostats for this engine. Which one? https://www.napaonline.com/en/search?text=thermostat&referer=search_form-savedveh
  20. I hear that's what happens to old people.
  21. So, is it worth getting an aftermarket thermostat, ie: Stant, Gates, or spend the big bucks and get the Cummins or Dodge?
  22. Yes the pressure switches are utilized. If you look at the wire diagrams just above you'll see the light blue circled area is the same in both. This is where the PCM and switches are joined to the AC dash controller at connector C-130 in the PDC. I tried this on my truck. I removed the HVAC controller to access the wires behind it and when I ground the light green/white wire the AC clutch is engaged all the time, in all vent positions, while the truck is running
  23. In 1976 Volvo switched all 4 and 5 speed transmissions from 90wt and 30wt fluids, respectively, to Dextron ATF due to poor cold shifting characteristics. They kept it that way through 1995. Volvo also called for Dextron ATF in the power steering systems until 2001 when it switches to a "European" ps fluid . For me, I run what the FSM says.
