  1. Hey Wacky ......... with 1/2 inch lines all the way I've pulled mine down by 4 p.si. while hauling heavy up a steep grade.
  2. I think It is Possible John Might be right about the fuel pressure always being positive or always ahead of the vane pump in the VP44. However, we have not seen detrimental effects from pressures higher than that. I will say it...... Commonly accepted pressures are to be no lower that 14 and no higher than 19 p.s.i. 14 is where the overflow valve opens and returns cooling fuel back to the tank and 19 is needed for when hauling heavy going up grades, that's when 8-10 might translate into slow damage to the VP during times of extreme heat build up. At 19 you are insuring maximum cooling with an open overflow valve. Additionally, I have tested newer mechanical gauges and found them to be showing higher than actual pressures by as much as 4 p.s.i higher. I have only tested two brands and the Isspro was closest with only 1 p.s.i. over actual pressure. I've always been a believer in Isspro brand gauges. Tractorman has been a great help to this site and do not wish to slight in anyway.... again I say he may be correct although I do know the overflow valve will open and return more fuel at the 14 level so the accepted higher pressures are a level of insurance for maximum cooling when needed most. I always use two stroke oil added to the fuel
  3. Dieselfuture, I'm serious when I answer your question about marketing those, for the third time, No I don't think you should call them 'Maxi Pads' Someone already uses that name I'm pretty sure.
  4. I haven't been myself lately enough to do much around here. You know after a long haul of a hard job...... combined with other difficulties I'm taking a much needed vacation. Hopefully I'll be back with some wonderful thread hijacks all you guys can jump in on
  5. Why? Did I do that to you before? I think you musta' had a bad dream about the 'mad moderator'
  6. Also need adjustable track bar, longer end links, longer shock absorbers and a realignment. Then when you load up the RV or whatever you'll hate the rear end sag. So next is the air bags, which need at least 10 psi all the time to not damage them. What a pain in the neck. The most I would ever do is a 1 inch level kit because when you measure the 2 inch lift kit, once installed, it's really more like 2 and a half inches lift kit. So one inch is the most you should do. Your right I'm no expert on the subject, but I know and experienced all I ever need to know I'm sorry to be so stubborn as a mule on this. Someone may have a picture to post
  7. Yep never do another a wild hair thing like that again. It was expensive and it wasn't right. I'd rather get a raise from my work any day
  8. You should be keeping good fuel pressure between 15 and 19 psi to keep the VP44 healthy and not cause slow death or premature wear. Also be running some 2 stroke oil in the fuel, around 1 ounce to the gallon, to reduce the scoring caused by the ULSD fuel we have these days. The VP44 injection pump was designed around the higher lubricity fuel we had back when they were being installed on the 24 valve Cummins. A couple questions; Is the old lift pump or the in tank fuel pump still in the tank? Do you have a fuel pressure gauge? Have you ever removed the fuel module in the tank to see if the screens are clogged? Did you try clearing the codes?
  9. Now can we turn it into Moparman private fishing resort?
  10. Love places like that. Hardly anyone around, do my metal detecting and Bicycling. Have coffee with anyone that wants some.
  11. Mostly coffee breaks, the rest was handing me tools up to the roof .
  12. I have talked with Larry before, he is a nice guy, maybe you should call him and ask for special consideration on the shipping. I burned up most of the fusible links from a bad relay. it was a bear to repair on my first gen truck.
  13. DD, this is just a small part of what it's all about to become a member here. Why don't you join up?
  14. Just a hint of help from me....by putting 2 stroke oil in the fuel it will help lubricate the timing piston which typically is the first thing to go on the Bosch VP44. About an ounce per gallon will get the fuel lubricity within Bosch specs by lowering the scoring value.
  15. Both my second gens have the return fuel plumbed into the filler neck. I like being able to see the amount of return flow when the cap is removed and it also helps mix the 2 stroke when pouring in.

X2..... and this place makes the morning coffee ten times better with everyone on here Saturday morn this site and coffee...... nothin' better
  17. I think they appointed me head moderator is how that happened Your lucky to be going to the beach for a family get together.... Have fun Dave
  18. I know the prices you have been quoted are pretty low. I don't think you will get any kind of bullet proof transmission rebuild at that level. You need to deal with Georend Transmission. Those people are first rate folks. You also need their Trans pan with the temp sensor. I could not believe the extreme quality in just the trans pan they shipped. Even the way it was packed was amazing. My other second gen got the Mag Hytech pan, but the Georend is tops.

Hello Eric, I used to live in Petaluma when I went to school there. Bet it's changed a lot since 1973..... I would not be able to recognize it.
  20. I'm hoping a good soaking of rain and some air moving. In Oregon, it is very strange not seeing any movement of air in over a week after after the fires began. I mean you cannot find even one small leave moving so the smoke just lingers like an evil cloud everywhere. It's weird. I think we will be out of the smoke by the weekend, but hope our NW storms start up to help the firefighters
  21. There is a pair of shoes stuck up there ...... IB says, ''more more sticky stuff!''
  22. Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts. We are out of the fire danger now that the wind is calm and the few smaller fires close to us were put out. The closest one (set deliberately) was 3-4 miles, another was about 12 miles, but in the path of the strong winds. It was a fearful experience with the trees I have around us. They are beautiful and parklike but can be an explosive situation in conditions like we had.
  23. Nice to go get all new vent hatches along with the frames. They were easy to seal being new and clean.
  24. On edit everyone..... this thing was showing a benign face in the beginning, but now we are under varying degrees of danger. 22 miles away we were ordered to evacuate our jobsite. Got home to blue skies around my place which was nice, but the wind has changed direction and put big dark clouds of smoke almost right over us. Please keep your prayers coming. For all my neighbors, about 27 families, there is only one road out. Thank you all
