mine is the same way. and i have a 2wd. on the last 1.5yrs i have changed the whole front end. the biggest difference was when i changed the steering gear box. my local part store(oreilly's) only stocked remans (by the brand CARDONE). at first it was AWESOME, but over time the slop and extra work came back. the gear box has a lifetime warrenty, but i have been to lazy to remove it and take it back. as far as the moog balljoints. i have their uppers and lowers on both sides. they have been good so far

the oil filter is not the same as a fuel filter. the filter has a by-pass valve inside it to prevent oil pressure loss. as the filter becomes clogged to slow the oil pressure, the valve opens to prevent pressure loss. after a point the full flow filter is not filtering anything.

if it's cracked in the usual spot, then it should run fine. depending on the crack it could be a few drips to a sieve. with your luck, if it has any problems other than a water leak, leave it alone. what is your plan to repair the crack?

i think we need to figure out if the VP44 even reports the timing to the ECM. i have read that the FPCM (fuel pump control module, ie vp44's computer) has final say in fueling and timing. if it does report it to the ecm, then it would be possible to monitor it.if i am right, anything on the CCD bus has "access" to everything on the bus. each module only looks at a small spectrum of the bus. like a television. you may be able to pick up several station, but you can only watch one channel(the one you are TUNED into) i believe that all info could be accessed if you have a device that can "tune" in to the proper frequency. i have had limited success using the ELM327 as it gets its info from the ECM/obd.

i got the wallyworld batteries. what is it, EVERSTART MAXX. i don't know what group it is, but is 1000ca each. only $75 a piece. walmarts are everywhere and it was ~$20 cheaper than all the part stores i found. even some of the new walmart don't have tire and lube, but still have an automotive section with batteries
