  1. hey russ, you said that your new AIRDOG was 2nd hand. i don't know if yours came with the instruction book(not that you really need it, but). I uploaded my copy to mopar1973man's download section. it is awaiting to be approved, and probably be up a little later in "other manuals and documents"
  2. thanks th, i hope everyone had a great christmas....i'm just glad its over
  3. in my 99, you have to run a filter in the canister or you have a BIG leak. other than the filter, there isn't much to "gut" out. if you have only 1 12MM-> 06 JIC. then the the kit is meant to bypass the filter can. if you have 3 and a small section of 1/2"(less than a foot), then you can plumb the can in line.
  4. russ, you will love the airdog. my lift pump was going out when i bought my truck. i picked up AT LEAST 2MPG from having a lift pump that is able to provide the VP44 with proper amount of fuel.
  5. when i fill up i usually pump 26gallons. that is usually as the fuel light comes on at a 1/8th tank. i have never recorded a 600mile trip odometer, but have got 21MPG had calculated. i have read a lot about fuel gauges being off, and have always attributed it to that. i can drive 100+ miles while the needle is on FULL line, but goes way fast below 1/2 tank.
  6. hahahahaha, but the stick doesn't die if you let out of 1st gear(manual trans). there is something called anti-stall that fuels to keep it from stalling, in fact i never give it throttle while taking off from a stop. if your foot is steady enough, you could take off in 3rd without killing it(pretty rough tho). the scary thing is the truck would slide of the tree drive over the curb and thru the house/business near said tree. --- Update to the previous post... that is how i drive my truck. most of the time, i am on call. no luxuries of 5min warm up time. i have heard that a lot off fleets don't want the trucks idling. warm up or cool down. seeing as big companies only care about the bottom line, and the policies still standing, you can speculate that their maybe some truth behind the thought. --- Update to the previous post... would a line lock or something not be what he is referring to?
  7. i have been wanting to do a heat shield like mopar1973man's but have recently seen this one http://www.fostertruck.com/heatshields.htm i wonder if this one would slow the turbo from cooling off....
  8. replacing the contacts are way cheaper than replacing the entire starter...on my write up, there is a trick to get the contacts in there now to work. /threads/1911-Starter-contact-write-up">http://forum.mopar1973man.com/threads/1911-Starter-contact-write-up
  9. i did, but i have always attributed to having proper fuel volume. the carter pump was near dead when i bought the truck.
  10. yes it does need a new pickup. the "drawstraw" is the new pickup. yes, there is a new return from the pump. the airdog kit comes with a "T" that you splice into the filler neck(where you fill the diesel tank). if you buy the upgraded drawstraw 5 (my understanding) you don't have to cut the filler neck, as you hook the return into the the straw. that and that helps prevent the "ran out of fuel and still have a 1/4 tank" problem (which i never have had, myself)
  11. until hypothermia kicks in and you die....
  12. maybe i should have left my muffler bearings on, then i could have swapped a 12v variable starting transducers into my truck, and use it to refill my blinker fluid
  13. the amount of fuel they pump. the 100 pumps 100gallons an hour, and the 150 pumps 150 gallons per hour
  14. i thought those came off with the CAT and muffler
  15. my 99 has a HX35 and it is stock
  16. mine usually does the same during cold starts, usually it is the oil pressure building(maybe a slow oil sending switch? ) i run valvoline with the "C" and donaldson endurance filter. it also does it when both grids are hitting for excessive time. it drops the volt-o-meter down to ~10volts and trips the light.
  17. i bet that i5 would make that AMD look like the step child
  18. i wouldn't do the drawstraw unless the pump you buy requires it. i never have liked the idea of drilling a hole in the tank. i think my drawstraw's grommet leaks when i fill the tank up. if you do go the route of the drawstraw, get the upgraded version so you can put the pump return line on the straw. this allows you to NOT have to cut the filler neck, and helps in low fuel situations. lift pump should help you russ. before my airdog, towing 7k or less would net me 10 MPG. same trailor/load with the airdog netted 14 MPG.
  19. my AC compressor cycles using every selection(or so i think). on 2sec off 5sec. always thought that might be a source of lower MPGs but do not wanna hack the harness for a toggle switch.
  20. at 35F-40F out door temp, i get 120F out of the vent next to the drivers door with it blowing out the vents and floor. i was going to measure with just the vents but couldn't take the heat.
  21. rotf lamo....that was funnyturned a rotten day around with a good laugh!
  22. and i always pegged you for a labradoodle guy :lmao:just kidding... labradoodle are some ugly dogs
  23. you speak of our very own AH64ID. here is his threads...first one is when he did his cam swap. http://forum.mopar1973man.com/threads/1627-3rd-Gen-Cam-upgrade?highlight= this is where he says that his last UOA was good for continued use, but he had more wear on his cam than he would have liked to see. http://forum.mopar1973man.com/threads/2225-When-do-you-change-YOUR-oil?highlight=cam+wear Wild&Free is right. soot is the killer. your lube oil suspends the soot and contaminants in the oil. when you change your oil, the contaminants come out as well. the oil can only hold so much. when you reach that point, you start forming sludge. extended oil intervals are a balancing act of "holding to much, or can hold some more". most by-pass filters cannot remove soot as it is too small.
