Ok, so I keep hearing about #1 and #2 diesel. Also certain stations are containing 5-20% bio diesel fuel. If I am out running around at any particular day of the year what do I need to look for in fuel when it comes to any of this? I know there is a summer and winter blend but do not know the difference. What do I need to watch out for at the pumps? Sorry for the noob question, I just want to be on the right path and this way I can pick my fuel stations to fill up at when I need to or at least know what I am looking at when I fill up anywhere.

Where does the diesel noise come from? I was thinking lifters, but when coasting there is no noise. I started adding 2 cycle oil and no reduction noted. Could it be the injectors? Pretty noisy clicking when going uphill at low speeds especially in the morning before operating temps reached. 161,800 and don't know if the valves have ever been adjusted? Only owned it for 20k miles.

So I came across a web link with some great information. I’ll leave a link below. This website tells you all about maintenance intervals and fluid amounts etc. I plan to change my diff gear fluid soon and I plan to use Scaeffers 75w140 gear oil. Iv heard talk about adding a friction modifier? I’m curious if anyone knows about this stuff and how much is needed per axle? http://www.cumminshub.com/5.9-24v-cummins-maintenance-schedule.html

I am attempting to track down a driveline vibration. Seems to be happening when accelerating from a stop while turning left. Unknown history of diff and drive line maintenance. I Changed the diff oil in July. Not many miles use since June. Will take a diff oil sample soon for analysis. This weekend I drove at hiway speeds for about an hour. No issues. Got home and immediately used a laser thermometer to check u-joint and diff housing temps. Ujoints all seemed fine and no hot bearings. Rear Diff housing pumpkin measured about 100F. Housing near pinion recorded about 120F. Is there something maybe going on with a pinion bearing? Any idea on normal housing temps a…

Ok all, as I may be in the market for another VP, what are the differences in the VP pumps? I have a 6 speed manual truck. Will any other pumps fit on this engine? I keep hearing that the automatic transmission pumps are different, then there is a SO and HO pump/engine. Truthfully am almost out of $$ to spend on this truck and hoping to find a used pump off of a wrecked truck, and need to know what would work and not. Thx, FT

3500 02 cummins drw hey guys i just took off my drain plug for my rear diff after driving about 3 weeks after changing the oil right after i purchased it, when i took the plug out a bunch of pressure released and went pooof. when i inspected the cap it had a coating of what looked like a gray silicone but it was obviously metal. ive never seen anything like it, no chunks or long bits just what looked like drywall mud. would this be normal? i just got the truck and when i first serviced the rear there was little no no metal. i put75-140 in the rear. i dont know if this would make a difference but i ended up having to repair the front end diff as it was pus…

Hey guys. Have a question about my truck wondering if you can shed some light. I bought this truck a couple years ago and have been slowly restoring it. I hear a loud knock/clank I believe to be coming from cyl 5 or 6. I say this because I originally thought the TC bolts were loose. I checked them. Removed, locktite, retourqued. I cracked fuel injector lines one by one to try to isolate noise, etc. Each line I cracked, I heard a noicable miss but the noise never stopped. Today I took my valve cover off to look for anything obvious. I found a few things! I see all my rockers getting evenly oiled, no visibly bent pushrods, no dropped valves/carbon buildup anywhere. …

Anyone know the diamater of the DiProcol gauges? I looked on several different suppliers websites, and even on the manufacture's site and can not find any reference as to the size. I have ordered the gauges, and need to order a steering column pod for the fuel pressure gauge but some pods say they are 2 and a 1/16" and some say 2". Thank's for any feedback............Hood Latch:confused:
