The crf450ish random question thread.
Whats a good random question thread wthout good random answer? I agree, I don't use mine for now. Even at15* plugged in for 30 or 40 minutes gets me 50 or 60 degrees water temp for nice start up.

The crf450ish random question thread.
My 02 does not trip the light or a code and I don't have a high idle switch. All I have is the Comp on mine at it is unplugged at the moment.

Relay clicking under dash?
Get someone to ride with you. Maybe they can locate it or let them drive.

Loss of boost and power

I disconnected mine at the battery.

01 24v VP44 to VE Swap (info gathering)
I think the VP got a bad name early on. My oe only lasted 75k. The remain Dodge put on it lasted 150k. And now 220k on this one. I am not knocking what you want to do. If the VE is what you want, go for it.

5 speed
Got stuck in 4th gear. I had to hulk out of 4th and it would not go back in. Never made a sound or gave any warning. Don't know what happened.
-
5 speed
No. The one I have now came from the salvage with 52k on it. The truck had about 250k on it at install. That's really about 220k on it.

ABS/Brake lights on
This pulsation seems more rapid than the rotors a turning. Kind of odd for warped rotors.

Track Bar failures
Cant answer that for sure, but it would seem to me they should be the same.
-
Track Bar failures
Possibly pushed the axle to the passenger side due to the springs sagging. A longer track bar would do the same.
-
5 speed
How many miles on said transmission? Could just be normal wear and tear. My 6 speed with 200k has some movement.

Get the code reader and see what the codes are.

Limp mode with codes
The PCM is telling you the ECM has a problem. My opinion anyway. The 606 is an ECM failure code. Go to the articles section, 2nd gen, engine, obdII error codes and look at the 606.

Limp mode with codes
The ECM and the PCM are two totally different family members. They are NOT the same thing.

Track Bar failures
I cant argue with what @Dieselfuture says on adjust ability. I have about 20k on my second MOOG non adjustable track bar. The cost was about $100 from Rock Auto. the first one had about 160k on it. Hopefully this one will get the same. Dont know yet. My springs, as best I can tell, have not sagged. At least if they have they have done it equally.

ABS/Brake lights on
Riddle me this one. My brake and ABS light are both on and have been for a while. Never felt any pulsations prior to the lights being on but now have those pulsations under hard braking but I know the ABS is not working because I can lock all four wheels up. ???

Limp mode with codes
Very much what happened to mine when the ECM committed suicide. I did not have the 606 code but it acted the same. From the 216 code you might have lost the vp too. Hard to say with the ECM flailing around. You cant trust the codes to much.

01 24v VP44 to VE Swap (info gathering)
There are other things that can do the same to you. Not just the VP. Hard to carry a spare anything. The stock filter is supposed to be very good, but I for one opted for more with the AD as many others have. Kind of a personal preference. You do NOT have fly by wire like my 02. Yours is vacuum controlled. Here in NC we have no emissions on the 2nd gens, but a lit CEL will fail inspections. I am at the present working in Bowie MD and will be for the next 2 or 3 months. Maybe a get together is in order.

Stock clutch torque and hp rating
I ran my stock clutch with a Banks Ottomind tuner, 75 rwhp advertised power. I pulled a 14k pound 5th wheel with out any problems. May be I was one of the lucky ones. I do not what clutch was rated for.

Loss of boost and power
The VP does not like high pressure when starting. The ECM regulates the starting pressure by turning the lift pump on and off rapidly. Pressures north of 20 psi while running are not recommended as that is hard on the VP. Fuel temp does play into this since the fuel is cooling the computer on the VP.

Loss of boost and power
Like to hear a little more info from them on that. I have been feeding mine between 15 and 19 psi with normal cruising pressure at 17 psi for 7 years for about 190k miles with a total of 220k on the VP I have now.

01 24v VP44 to VE Swap (info gathering)
I currently have 220k on my pump. I fed it a steady diet of 2 cycle it's whole lifer and good fuel pressure also. She might blow tomorrow, who knows. It has lasted longer than the 2 that proceeded it together.
