Good evening, I have a 1999 Dodge 24v and am looking at replacing the fuel return system. Has anyone made their own return system? If so, do you have a list of parts used? I may just buy stock parts, but would like other opinions. I am looking at replacing the line at the back of the head, line from vp and the t fitting. The return line going to the tank is in good condition and does not need replacing. The other lines are rusting and starting to leak. Thanks, Tim

Hello All, Sorry for the story, but I am confused. After reading all the articles on here with AC Noise Issues/Excessive alternator load, I began disconnecting my grid heaters (at the battery) during the warmer months (40F+). Over the holidays, I took a trip to the mountains for some time in the snow so I hooked back up the grids and first start up the check engine light kicked on. The engine was idling fine, but i noticed the voltage gauge took a long time to recover from the initial grid usage and every trigger (2 times) before I took it down the road to just check things out. At the gas station (5 miles away), I scanned the truck…

I just replaced the vp44 injection pump and lift pump, now it stalls when pushing in the clutch when coming to a stop. Rpm will bounce around sometimes you can keep it from stalling by giving it fuel and pushing the clutch in. It never did this before, I had a p0252 code is the reason I changed out the the vp44. The new lift pump is a OEM. Vp44 is a remanufactured.

Yesterday I was trying to pull my loaded trailer out of a snow covered driveway. I spun the tires in 2wd so I moved the transfer case shift lever from 2H to 4H but the front wheels did not spin on the snow while the rears were spinning. I shifted to 4L and same thing. I have no knowledge on these truck as far as the 4wd system. Any thoughts or hints on what might have happened and how I should proceed from here?

Hi, I bought this truck about 3 months ago. It came with no keys (no its not stolen, guess buddy lost them) so he put in a master switch and a push button. Master switch turns truck on, push button starts the truck. A few weeks back I took out my remote start because it was in my way and I didn't have the use for It with the lack of keys anyway. Nothing changed with the truck I still used the switch and button just fine. 3 days ago, I was frustrated with the wires from the remote start hanging out so when I got home I took only the wires that were connected to nothing out. Now my truck won't turn over and I've pulled out the wiring harness on the …

Hi guys First off thanks for the add this looks to be the place for 2nd generation questions. I have a 98.5 24 V that stopped running. It was running ok and I parked it for about 10 minutes, wouldn't restart. Turned over fine just wouldn't fire. Changed the fuel filter and bled the system. Cracked the injectors and only got fuel out of cyl 3 and 4. It seemed like it was only the lift pump pushing fuel not the injector pump, fuel just ran out when the lift pump was going. Pulled it and managed to get it started (have to love a 5 speed). Had a major stumble on the low end but once you got going it did ok. Not great but got it home. It would die if you …

I think I am right but I want to be sure. On my 02 I have a schrader valve on my vp44. I want to install my fuel pressure gauge at this spot until my fass gets here. Can i just screw in my Grease gun hose in after I take schrader valve with out needing a banjo bolt? So it would be vp44 hole, grease gun hose, then needle vavle/ snubber and then Fuel pressure sensor from quadzilla.

This is an edit on what I wrote below: There is definitely something wrong in the pump controls which must mean the ecm. I started thinking about the transmission phantom shifting problems these truck have when the alternator is leaking ac current in to the dc system. That has been happening to me occasionally. I decided to clean my battery terminals as they needed it and can be a contributing factor to the power/ecm issue. I then started the truck and had no problem with the lift pump cutting out for 15 minutes then it shut off again. I pulled up the electrical schematic and found the positive wire to the lift pump split in to two wires that both go in to the ecm. I am r…

Okay getting close to wanting to throw fuel in my tank and see if my engine even runs, but I want to make I didn't miss (or screw up) anything. So It's been 8 yrs since it's run some my memory it a little foggy, anyway when I turn key to on Oil pressure gauge goes up to 40psi, Tap starter it goes back down, this correct? Obviously I don't know what it will when actually started, Sure I'll have oil pressure just don't want to backtrack any on any wiring.

Just finishing up 47re build and I’m installing the valvbody with the trans on the bench. Is there any way to tell is the if park rod is actually engaged in the right spot or not without putting it all together and finding out the hard way?

So I have to order new hydraulics (or the slave at least because the hose popped out of mine), and I was curious what the difference between stock and valair is besides the threaded clutch rod? I have a south bend dual disc clutch btw.

WhT are common symptoms of thermostat failure? This morning I shut the truck down without paying attention to the coolant temp and started it right back up and it’s readimf around 145 155 degrees. Usually it’s right at 180 after I’ve driven it for 25 miles like I just did.

Hi guys Thanks for all the responses on my last post. It’s nice to find a page that has knowledge as well as courtesy. So I pulled my VP44 and found a broken rear bracket. Looks like I need to remove and replace/weld. My question is can I remove the vacuum pump with the injection pump removed or will the pump gear fall down. Looks like both run off the crank from what I can see. Also looks like a good time to rebuild that oily mess. Thanks and Merry Christmas Bill

Just moved to the area ( Lawrenceville ). Normally do all my own work, but currently living in an apartment while looking for a new home. Unfortunately, apt does not allow residents to work on their vehicles here. Currently having extended crank time/loss of prime/ECM issues. Looking for a knowledgeable, honest tech in the area to work on my 2500 who knows OUR trucks and systems. Would be willing to travel for the right guy if rate is reasonable. Any help or direction is appreciated. Meanwhile, everyone have a great holiday and stay safe. 98 1/2 2500 QCSB Auto 2WD 5.9L 3.55

Hi folks I own a 1998.5 with Cummins 5.9L 24V Ram 2500. Automatic. 4x4. I got under the truck to try and ID the tranny. I learned where stamped ID numbers were located. I can read 10PK522195, I think. Hard to read. I would need to get a wire brush and some break clean to better read it. Does my truck likely have the 47RE tranny? I see a good used one for sale locally. Seems like a good price. Thinking of picking up for a spare. Mine is at 261,000 KM currently. No problems. Just planning to keep the truck long term. Could store the tranny easily. Thanks, Keith
