Anyone heard of putting a bit castor oil in the coolant to help the water pump? Heard someone mentioning that at the autoparts store.

  3. I had a couple of these laying around https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073ZBNBHS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and replace the dome light and the map lights with them. I also repaired the exploded springy map light switch in the truck today (a resent development) with the aid of some crazy glue and a zip tie for extra insurance. I'm sure some of you have encountered that seemingly common failure. Looks like the one on the driver's side already went through the process of fail and glue. I added a zip tie to that one too. I've been using these same LED light bulbs (link above) in something else for about a year and they hav…

I need to replace the speakers in my truck (99 quad cab) and just finished reading the material available on here. I don't know much about car audio, but I've done a bit of reading tonight and I am looking for some help on ordering new speakers. My truck must have (or at some point) had the infinity system. It has an aftermarket Kenwood CD deck and from when I put my mirrors on, I could see that the speakers on the back had that crescent shaped amplifier, which I understand is evidence of the infinity system. Are there any specific speakers that fit nicely and aren't super expensive? My understanding is 6x9s in the front and 5 1/4s in the back. Should I k…

so I usually never let my fuel gauge get below 1/4 tank and during my last drive I did just ever so slightly. When I took a sharp turn into the gas station my fuel gauge dropped right to 0 and stayed. I immediately shut the truck off and then bumped the starter to listen for the fass to run, which it did. So I let it run but it came up normally but the needle then vibrates quickly as it climbs to 17-18 psi. If I let it sit for a few seconds it settles out no problem. Now everytime i get slightly above a 1/4 tank it starts to fluctuate between 18 down to 7-8 whenever I stop or make a turn. Side note, this is an autometer 0-15psi…

I need to replace my headliner in my 96 Ram. The visors have some holes in them also, so I figured I'd do them all at once. How does the visor fasten together? It looks like they snap together. Bob

  10. I have a glowshift egt gauge that has started acting weird. I hate these gauges and will never buy another, but I'm curious if it is fried or if something is interfeering with it. It works normally, but when under light acceleration or maintaining constant speed, it pegs out at max temps. Once I let off the throttle, goes to current temperature, or if I'm more aggressive in acceleration, it returns to normal temp also. I'm horrible with electronics, so I need your help to determine if its failing or not. I've had other glowshift gauges in the past, all have failed, this is my last remaining one. The last one the needle just bounced everywhere, there was no …

  11. Only because I'm adding HIds to my current ones. I went the lower budget sets from Amazon as I can't afford the big ones right now. I'm going to need a new VP44 soon and also a set of tires. After reading some of the posts here, I decided too go with the H1 35 watt version and got a relay. I also got a pair of 9004 headlight extensions so I can tap off my light circuit for the relay and magnet for the high beams. Anyway, I plan to put my old lights back in so I can take my time getting the projectors fitted and adjusted properly. I decided to try to clean the lenses before putting them back in and got the turtle wax restorat…

Sometimes when I turn my AC / heater on off knob on there is a delay for it to go on. Not all the time but once in awhile. Usually if its on and I turn the ignition switch on it goes on normally. After you drive about 30 sec 1 minute or so the ac and blower will then go on Its not the blower fan speed knob but the top on/ off knob Anyone had this issue? Bad blower motor resistor?

Last year I installed new Rancho shocks. I'm still bouncing. If I cross an intersection at 30mph +, the crown of the cross street will cause me to bounce up and down 4 or 5 times. If the fifth wheel RV is in tow, a concrete interstate with it's uneven seams is horrible. I don't remember which Rancho shock model I bought. They're not the adjustable model though. Suggestions?

My original seat cushion was SHOT! I've been wanting to replace this for some time, but I hesitated dropping the money on a cushion. This was very simple to do and it only took 45 minutes from start to finish. The bottom is easily removed with a 10mm socket, there are 4 bolts that are easily accessed from underneath the seat. With the seat removed, the cover was removed by pulling the clips attached to the fabric that was secured to the metal frame. The fabric cover is held onto the cushion with 2 Velcro strips and 3 hog rings. The replacement cushion came with replacement hog rings. The 4th picture is of the rings, sorry, I didn't realize it was so …

So, I’ve had ABS and brake lights on in the instrument panel since I got this truck and have read lots of threads on how to diagnose and repair the issue. My module seems to have been sent off for repairs before. Looks like the “technician “ cut through the top cover and attempted a repair without opening up the module. I have tried to open the top cover and have all the screws out but can’t seem to get the cover off. I think the connector for the pump motor is attached to the circuit board and must be left attached to the top cover and pulled through the bottom part of the module but I haven’t been able to accomplish this yet. Has anybody opened one of these up …

I got my new Autometer "A" pillar triple gauge mount today with gauges and was wondering how you guys got the wiring and tubing through the dash? I am guessing drilled a hole somewhere to manipulate the wires and such through? I am going to try to install the Trans. Temp, Boost and Oil Pressure this weekend hopefully, if things go right. Thanks for help! Steve

I realized the other day that I haven't heard my fan kick in lately. When the truck was cooled off I grabbed the fan blade and the was quite a bit of resistance. Wouldn't spin freely at all. I haven't had any heating issues, but was wondering if there was any other way to test it. Bob
