  1. The beauty of that mod is what it does to reduce stray ac voltage on the entire system. AC voltage that kill electronic parts like the ECM. Most are seeing a 50% or more decrease with nothing but that mod.

Nice stable of trucks. I am curious of the photo of the silver Mega Cab. Did you back it up a wee bit to far? We are about $3 to $3.15 a gallon between North Carolina and Maryland. The next job is in South Carolina, always a little cheaper there.
  3. It would seem me and the JAG went to the same electrical school. The University of stick your tongue on the wire and see it its hot!! Though both of us have made a little progress beyond that.
  4. My truck at 74 mph, EGT 650-700, 2250 rpm, 2 or 3 psi of boost, not sure on the load, truck at about 7500 lbs. All on level ground. What size tires are you running? Sounds like that could be part of the problem. The fuels you run might have some bearing on that too but I dont really know. I believe thats been brought up before though.
  5. First off, welcome. Second off, I am an electrical midget. I am sure the more educated will not be far behind me.
  6. Both very good articles. The first for the why and the second for an easy how to.
  7. That is a very nice job. I have been messing around with a spare I have and can see how daunting a job this can be. Here is a link to thread about the computer grounds and a mod to improve the factory set up. It has been shown to cut down stray AC voltage from the alternator. It reduced mine from .035 to .010. Others here have seen similar reductions. It is worth the read and could be worked into what you have if you so desire.

Welcome. That's quite a collection you have. Are they all for personal use?
  9. Here is the splice, about 8" from the ECM plug going toward the VP. There is another splice of the 5v signal to the the MAP and oil pressure sender/switch that might be my issue but I have not found it yet.
  10. Heat sucks, but subfreezing weather sucks more. Just my preference any way.
  11. Several folks have gone to a 1 piece driveshaft to eliminate the carrier bearing. They seem to have good luck with it. I have no personal experience with one, just what I have read.
  12. I take it that means you will be sleeping behind the couch with the next acquisition or maybe in the yard??? the truck looks mighty good, I do have one off topic question, where are all the long bed trucks? I have been looking for a while now and all I find are short beds. Maybe one out 30 or more are long beds.
  13. Mine is LS and dont have any problems with it. Drives well in the mud I drive it in on the job and does well in the winter with snow with the tires I have on it. Not alot of off road stuff for me though.
  14. I have never had to worry gelling for the most part, just not in that cold of climate 90% of the time. I have seen near 0 temps with no problems for some trips. I have wondered about the fuel temps with both return lines going to the fuel basket and the fact I have always run my tank low on road trips both winter and summer. Just never have had filters clog prematurely or any other side effects that i know of.
  15. I guess I have been lucky in my neck of the woods. Took my hvac box out 6 years or so ago. No debris to speak of. At least nothing to block air flow. some crud in the bottom but that was it.
  16. Looking at replacing my radio. Should I ditch the amps on the speakers? Dont know squat about this but would like to know what I need to buy.
  17. Hey, hey, hey!!! Thats my kin you're looking for. That could be problem.
  18. Mine was not tight the day I bought it. It has wandered from day one. Kind of grew to accept it. Even after I rebuilt it was back to new but still liked to wander. Getting close to that day again.
  19. Good news, glad your making progress.
  20. On page 2 there is s post by @IBMobile about 1/4 the way down with the cliff notes version. It is nothing but the steps.
  21. I believe that should be gat minus the g. Looking "at fuel pressure".
  22. The construction industry is getting the same way. I am knocking all them by means most hardworking men. But I am running up crews that lack someone that speaks good english and I do have problem with that. I had several instances on this last job. I would explain myself as plainly as I could then come back and get something different. It is frustrating but I have to get the job done.
  23. Several folks here have had this problem and as I remember the seem to get in thru the cowl at the windshield. I am not one of those but someone will come along and tell you what they to plug the holes for the mice.
