  1. Well, almost 21/2 months later the dealer finally got an estimate to fix the RV, $9000.00 in repairs, and the insurance agreed to it. We didn’t want to spend that much on a $10,000 trailer so we just cashed the check and the dealer gave us a couple thousand for ours then we just put the money toward a newer model, I had to put up another $10,000 but ended up with a 2011 heartland greystone 34’. It weighs in at 10,800 empty and I think around 13,000 loaded. I like having the 8 lug axles compared to the 6 lug I had before ( bigger brakes ) We didn’t spend to much time looking around, the wife liked this one so we just went for it. She liked the large living area, electric fireplace and a bathroom that you didn’t have to walk through to get to the bedroom. I liked the four season package and a frame mounted receiver hitch on the rear with a 7 pin connector, for more toys Meanwhile back at the ranch been doing some clean up, I took down 16 cottonwoods so far and still got a few more, I’ve been lucky to find people that will burn this stuff and haul this off and I have em all bucked up for them, gave away about 6 or 7 cords so far, and I’ve been restocking with ponderosa pine.
  2. Nice to see these trucks in thier natural environment
  3. Sucks to hear that kind of news, but hang in thier, wish the best for both you and your mom. I know I’ve had my share of ER and hospital time in the last couple years, not for my self but immediate family members in life threatening situations, A lot of times being in a hospital and looking for ways to pass the time I find myself surfing this site and it’s always been good therapy just to get your mind off of things . It’s good to know you got members close by that’s willing to give a hand
  4. Chime back in, when your ready, A few of us members have done the install and willing to help, you will be happy with it
  5. My oil pressure gauge doesn’t go up with key on either, but maybe some are wired different . Thier is acually a slight delay on start up which I believe is normal for these trucks. I would hook up a mechanical gauge on the engine at first start up just to verify the factory gauge. just for peace of mind
  6. I’ve always enjoyed processing my own Elk and deer but time and making room to do it within the last few years have not been in my favor so it’s usually straight from field dressing to the butcher. I do save about 20 lbs of unprocessed meet for curing to make Jerkey and summer sausage, as far as curing ingredients I usually just get what looks good on the shelf with the pre package stuff from the local store or Bass Pro.
  7. Vulcan is a good supplier of the isspro ev series gauges, I have the isspro electric fuel pressure gauge myself but the mechanical fuel pressure gauge is just as good if not better, just depends if you want to run the fuel line into cab or not, what ever one you decide to go with, getting the complete installation kit is a good idea that way your not sourcing bit and pieces to get it installed.
  8. Mechanical fuel boss and a draw straw is a good set up that’s what I run too I would highly recommend a fuel pressure gauge along with the install if you don’t already have one. Typically you will see between 17 and 19 psi. consistently with the fuel boss
  9. welcome from the west side of the state
  10. I have considered that pacbrake set up, it looks to be a one stop shop and be done, I know $1,800 is hard to swallow but even worse is a totaled rig because you can’t stop, I have got by with the trailer brakes in the past but even they can fail and with a 20,000 GCW and 9 mile long 6-7% grades I’m burning brakes. So now that I’m upgrading to a different camper and boat I’m going to be adding a few thousand pounds, I’m going to be grossing around 23k, so that’s why I don’t want to cheap out on my stopping power. As as far as my tranny I had it rebuilt in 2011 and at the time I didn’t think I was going to keep the truck around and had them build it stock but did go with a single disk billit converter other than that’s its pretty much stock including shafts. I do have some parts gathered to do the lock up switch mod, but right now Im just can’t figure what direction I want to go with this EB set up, Since Im due for a turbo upgrade (still got the hy35) I’m also considering the HE351ve that @Me78569 has the write up on, so decisions...decisions got to figure which way to go
  11. I’ve seen some of my best mpg above 20 mpg, on that stretch of road from Denver to S/W Co. running empty with my Dodge, my best was hand calculated at 21.5 mpg. not bad for a 4x4 47re truck with 3:54 gears and 285/70/16. I really don’t think I would come close to that with the winter blend fuel though, Roads around home here in the winter is usually average around 15 to 17 depending what I’m pulling or using 4x4
  12. I can’t figure out what I like better. That truck or that trailer, nice set up
  13. I know you plan on getting a FP. gauge, but It would have detected this in a drop or erratic fuel pressure. keep us posted
  14. The one I just replaced is a hard line direct To the heat exchanger going to the front transmission cooler on radiator. I have no rubber or quick connects at the heat exchanger. It is the foreword side of the heat exchanger. The one on the rear of heat exchanger is the line comming from transmission. I don’t know of a rubber hose with quick connect on that one either but didn’t pay to much attention either for I was doing it pretty much by feel. Is it possible some one may have modified yours. If your heat exchanger is leaking into the trans fluid I would defently replace it, sure beats replacing the transmission. I have heard of some bypassing it but it’s not anything I would recommend .
  15. Trans cooler line part # 52028633 is available through rock auto, It’s the one that goes from heat exchanger to front of radiator, I just ordered one and in the process of installing as of now. It was just a little over 40 bucks with shipping. I think I should have got the rubber hose also with a new quick connect for I may have destroyed mine taking it apart, what a royal PIA.. my only option now is to either order a new hose with quick connect or cut the quick connect off rubber hose and just slide it on the new cooler line , but just can’t bring myself to cut the flange off the new steel line
  16. I remember this happening in Colorado a couple years ago, although perfect world conditions its still impressive, and even transporting one of my favorite products
  17. I had similar situation a few years ago, turned out that it was the main plug in the PDC was loose, I just had to re set it, but be carefull when checking it is easy to over torque. Just got to do it by feel.
  18. If your grid heaters are comming on at first start up that would be normal. When the heaters kick off is when you see your voltage rise back up to 14. and headlights back to normal.
  19. my wife’s 2004 Tahoe with the 5.3 and no AFM is pushing 300k , had it since practically new and engine still going strong. now I just wished I could say the same for daughters 2013 Hyundai, it’s barely got a 100k and smoking like a freight train, might be replacing that engine for her, she is not to blame though she been away at college for 3 years and left her car home for me and the wife to use.
  20. If it were me and I have chased leaks the same. I would get a couple cans of brake clean and rags and clean everything and the hard to reach areas, then start truck and get underneath with a pin light and check everything, usually the leak will present its self. just because you have oil drips off something don’t mean it’s leaking. Gravity and wind dictate where oil is going to go.
  21. I agree with dripley, keep an eye on CL and eBay. I’m doing the same. but I would have no problem spending a couple hundred on a clean factory front seat
  22. The owner should be able to soak up that cost within a year, depending on how the truck is worked and the shape the rest of truck is in Does that price include turbo or radiator or anything else that may need replaced while your at it
  23. That looks great, I have been wanting to do this for a while but no time, my interior and drivers seat are shot. and who knows what’s lurking those hard to see places, @Cronus577 I envy you for doing a great job, thanks for sharing
  24. I would assume every bit of that. with 1.4 mil. On the clock, It will be interesting if the truck is a good candidate for an inframe, or maybe an out of frame rebuild.
